Keep the head up bro. You know you have the strength it was just one of those days.  Only saw your first squat which looked smooth as hell and just unfortunate to have a setback make your day not what you wanted.   You're a world class lifter and will bounce back from it even better.  Hope the back is sweet.

Awesome post bro, disappointing result but hey I guess that's we set ourselves up for in the weight training game and on a side note you're still my favourite power lifter lol.

to be honest reading that post about mindset reminds me of myself in many ways. I guess in some ways it's bad but in other ways it's good because it means we are always pushing. If you had lesser standards would you be as good as you are now? Maybe you would maybe you wouldn't. Anyway bro I'm sure you're sick of hearing people talk about your comp but I'm sure you'll come back and prove a big point soon enough. #huhuhu

So I was unclear and asked.

The back tweaked in the warm up. Tom still chose to do 290 opener and it went up fine and he "barely felt it", probably due to the adrenaline.
Then on the 310 the pain was there the whole time and it threw him off. So after the 290, no reason was seen to drop his planned 2nd attempt. That makes sense. A 300 would probably have been smarter given the issues.

Adrenaline had worn off by the time bench rolled round and the pain was there the whole time.

Lol. I still think 100kg is my class for sure but I really need to get below 105. Ideally 103 the week of comp. I don't enjoy the big cuts even though they are doable, it really takes it out of me mentally. The week of should really be about chilling out and the two times iv done it has just been stressful. Which is entirely my fault - I eat too much and don't do any fucking cardio even though I know I should to make it easier. Too big of a cut for my liking. I have probably done it the opposite of what is ideal. Being that ideally you would want to do smaller cuts for your first ones and gradually increase the amount you are cutting. I have done the opposite and started with a really big one. I was 105.4 3 weeks ago but that blew up to 107-108 in the last few weeks from some water retention. I should have thought about that in advance and planned for it in hindsight. Dunno if I'll go to Aus next year to compete it will get expensive flying over twice and getting accom and all that shit. X2 because have to qualify. Having made up my mind yet about my next meet, will get back into training and see how I feel. But there is no upanz 3 lifts the rest of the year and that's the only fed I can compete in (and want to compete in) so looks like it'll be next year. But at this stage id rather save that Aussie money and do another comp in the USA around August next year cause I'm going over there then for my brothers final home NCAA soccer game and the senior night. So I'll google what's happening around that area and time in the powerlifting scene closer to the time.

for now though just gotta get back to basics and build some muscle and train hard.

Was only 80kg but pretty good, I'll cycle them in and out of this block and see how worthwhile they are. Not that I'll probably be able to tell specifically but they will be a nice addition to it all.

Update.

training going well. Have upped the weights abit and doing more back off sets to get the overall volume up still. Gaining some i muscle I feel like which is positive for where I'm currently at with things.

I'm Over in Australia on the Gold Coast at the moment since last week until mid February and the weather is sick! so I'll just continue with this style of training till then. I joined up to world gym while I'm over here. It's an awesome gym and got everything I need and more. Very cool gym. Being in there just makes you want to train hard AF such a good atmosphere. Some gyms just give you that fire to kill it, this is one of those gyms. Everything is genuine hammer strength gear not copy shit and man it feel real nice to use.

Very similar to what I did today lol. Are you still training with Wookie?

Good to see the shoulders all healed up that you are doing a Bench Comp. Any idea yet what you are going to attempt?

Yeah. I have never had an issue with my shoulders. arms are fine now and I tore my pec, benched 190 easily in August. Strained the same pec in Australia in December on a 160 bench. This was my first session back benching in 3 weeks. Just gotta warm it up really well and take care of it continuously. No idea at this point, see how I go next 6 weeks. Back to Aussie for a month end of this week so see how much training I can do over there.
