Are you going to pose while stonecold steve Austin's music plays? or the Ultimate warrior?

I will be posing to acdc thunderstruck . Was going to pose to the ultimate warriors music when I was thinking about which music that I should pose to.

The 2012 was the most dis-organised and badly run show I have ever been to... The dis-organisers put no pre-thought, preparation, or planning into any part of the pre-contest sign in, or the actual show.. Everyone was kept waiting for over 2 hours to sign in (they didnt start setting up tapes or scales until we'd waited an hour), they lost our music CD, and entry forms.. We are still waiting for our CD copy of the Nationals, and have been for nearly 2 years... I could go on, but I can't be arsed... Useless twats..!!

Should be a good show from what I've seen so far, particularly in the female classes. The "battle of the bitches" has Jo Stewart up against Naera Johnson in physique, the phenominal Linda Hickin will be in Figure (with her man Pedro Molina making his stage debut). A secret squirrel competitor will be popping up in the female WFF Extreme Body (Physique U60kg), cant wait to see that!

Just gotta find tickets! All sold out but maybe a few spares at the door.....fingers crossed!

OK... time for the "official" post-competition report.

This was my third competition in three weeks, and I've got to admit, I was feeling a little bit over bodybuilding by the time I got to this one. On top of that, it was a beautiful day outside, and I was about to spend the next 6 hours in a cold dark hall.

It would be fair to say that this particular member of the audience was a little bit grumpy, and NABBA/WFF were on the back foot before they'd even started. :D

That quickly changed.

Leanne, the event organiser, started the show by introducing a little kid who's battling leukemia. Leanne, who's battled leukemia herself, sounded quite choked up as she told us that the proceeds from this show were going to buy fancy dress costumes for the sick kids at Starship. Aww, so many warm fuzzies.

The atmosphere at this show was just fantastic - easily one of the best shows I've seen in terms of a supportive, encouraging crowd. (It probably helped that Lynne Wright and Tony Ligaliga seemed to have trained half the athletes in the competition, and there was a lot of noise coming from their team.)

The difference between this show and last week's NZIFBB show (pre-judging, at least) was huge. The NZIFBB was held in the convention centre of the ASB showgrounds, and the audience was all on one level, and miles from the stage. I had to look through my camera to see the athletes in any detail. Here, with a smaller venue, we were right up close and intimate, and the raised seating meant you weren't peering over other people's heads.

The one-show format is brilliant. Again, NZIFBB could learn from this - at their pre-judging, competitors would hit some individual poses before they go into the lineup, but it's not a full routine, and everyone seemed uncertain about what they're supposed to do. Often they'd just keep on posing uncomfortably until Moe asked them to leave. By contrast, the NABBA/WFF format of individual routines, then posing lineup, then awards... just works.

The one area I think NZIFBB had it over NABBA/WFF is the athletes themselves - for sheer quantity of competitors (and with that comes quality), you'd have to give it to NZIFBB. But that's not to say there weren't some phenomenal physiques in this show too.

Also, I still have my pet peeve with NABBA/WFF shows that no-one tells me what "Class 2" actually means, or how it's different from "Class 3".

But if I had to choose a competition, either to watch or to enter, there's absolutely no question in my mind. It's this one, hands down.

Some pics from the WFF part of the show...

Gotcha. But my point is just that it would be helpful for the MC to say that when he announces the class... eg "Next up, Novice Men, Class 1 - these are the guys over 1.79m."

A lot of the guys in the audience will be comparing themselves to what they see on stage (possibly with a view to one day competing themselves), but to do that, they need some sort of height or weight benchmark. Giving that information isn't hard, and it provides some perspective on what sort of physique we're looking at.

Anyway, as I say, that's just a pet peeve of mine. :)

That took a while for me to figure out what NABBA/WFF ment by class one etc until I read about the diffrent height and weight ratios for each class on the NABBA/WFF website. Now I know what they mean by after I read about each class plus it make things more easy to understand as well

Why not just pay for their medical bills and painkillers?

Good Job GymRat and everyone else who competed Biggrin

Thanks bro and when I fly back home on Thursday I dont mind if i get charged 20 dollars by Air New Zealand for having extra luage because the two trophys plus it will be well worth it.One of the other highlights for me besides from coming away with two trouphys got to meet Phil K and seeing Sue Beetliage compete for the first time after seeing her on the news sometime last year can't recall when that was.
