Building Testosterone Levels - Help & Advice please

Hi guys, wasn't sure where to post this, but no doubt body builders know all about this (not to mention this is one of the busiest sub forums). I would like to hear your stories and what you do to increase your testosterone levels. It would be great to hear for some of the older members as test tends to go downhill after 35 but all input is going to help no doubt.

Testosterone...I need more. I'm 37 years old and everything points to myself needing to supplement, replenish and potentially increase my levels. I am looking at doing this in the most natural way possible as research suggests that I'm doing most of the things necessary to increase levels but I'll need to switch things up and maybe add one or two things.

Some of the reoccuring trends I see from research online are things like full on HIIT sessions, 5RM weight training sessions, healthy fats, less sugar (including fruits?) and increase BCAA intake.

I'm doing most of this anyway, but admittedly, I really need to make adjustments and improve.

Also, does anyone have any feedback regarding doing it naturally vs taking a test supp? I've tried the test freak before and it really amped me up, but didnt feel natural, so the edge was different and I crashed?? I'm really just trying to keep all my intake natural to avoid taking supps that dont mix with this or that ... or you have to take this pill at this time etc etc.... plus... on average that extra $60 a month could be better spent elsewhere.

I just really need to get my edge back.

Any and all feedback on the topic is appreciated

Apart from exercise and eating healthy I don't think there's much else you can do apart from exogenous application....

There has been quite a bit of discussion on here over the years regards test-boosters, from what I remember most don't really cut it..

Get your bloods tested, and see if your low enough for TRT..

i remember being really obsessed with trying to increase test levels before too but i remember there were some good discussions about how artificial boosters are pretty much a waste of time and that male test peaks at around mid 30s anyway so after which it very slowly begins to decline. can't find the discussion at the moment but i'm sure someone will chime in on how right or wrong what I just said is soon enough *biggrin*

as daz said  getting a blood test to check how low it is then going on TRT if required is probably the only thing thats gonna be effective for you if you reckon your test is genuinely low

I would have to agree. Get your test levels checked. I got mine checked 6 years ago through a mens clinic. I was 44 years old at the time and I was suffering with depression, irritability, low libido, anxiety, easy fatigued, hot flushes and sweating, memory and concentration problems. and my levels were 5nmol/l "Normal levels are between 8 and 30nmol/l" I got perscribed 100mg/week at first but currently I am on 180mg/week devided into 2 doses. I can honestly say that I have never felt better in 25+ years. Intially I had to pay for TRT through the mens clinic but now I get it through my GP so the only costs are the prescription charges as it is fully subsidised.

Thanks for the insight there MisterX, much appreciated. I'll get it tested when I finally get around to testing all my other levels and see what can be done. I think I have a while yet before I have to really be concerned by the sounds... but you never know, it's certainly worth checking.

No worries. Good luck and keep us posted.

  • 2 weeks later...

One supplement you could add is good ol' taurine.

It's been proven to (if only in rats) increase testosterone by a significant amount.

It is also proven to increase health over a vast range of fators. Experts have even singled out taurine as the reason for the longevity of the people in Okinawa, Japan.

I think one of the biggest factors for influencing your natural levels would be stress. That includes overtraining, not enough food/rest/sleep, or just general life stressors - work/mortgage/money/family/anxiety/depression - and how well you particularly deal with that stress. Other than that there is just drugs.

Couldn't agree more with this comment. I also believe stress/modes do influence stress levels. The only way to be 100% ensured to influence test levels at your age would be to go to a doctor and hope to be prescribed dugs.

How to try and do it naturally? Just clean up your diet; Workout on a regular basis, Cardio daily/bike/long walks to clear your head/relax yourself and get plenty of rest/sleep.

ha, thanks for the comments. I'm as laid back as they come. Yup, have a few stress moments on occasion... but I breeze through them after a while...I'm aware that stress can cause all types of damage so I don't have time for it.

Man, the more I've read up about it, the more I realize I don't need to really up my levels, and that the reality is I just wanted what most people in this game would want...... more RAAAAARH! more aggression... more power. I'm definately feeling age, but nothing is stopping me making progress at this stage. Glad I took the time to learn about these things however.
