What's up everyone...

A little background as to who I am and why I do this...

Like most skinny guys; I used to get picked on a lot for absolutely no good reason and it lead to some serious depression where I was skipping school and just isolating myself to play video games. Just wanted to escape reality. Lack of girls, friends weren't genuine and I had absolutely no passion for anything. In saying that; if you have no passion in this life, I truly believe you are as good as dead. Some people have religious belief to fall back on but some others such as myself; don't believe in that sort of thing...

Around 2006, something miraculous happened! I some how scored myself a girl friend! And not just any girl friend, she was decent looking! *in before pics* - It was the most amazing feeling of having someone make you feel great and also the obvious benefits that came along with having a girl friend. To make a rather long (and yet obvious) story short; it ended with my heart breaking in two. I won't get into too much detail about how or why it ended but I felt a feeling that I never felt before, it was such a depressing feeling that everything around me was making me feel depressed / down. I didn't have the guts to call it 'quits' if you know what I mean so I sort of just convinced myself that it was my destiny to feel shitty like this for as long as it takes.

One day I was at my cousins house getting ready to go out and meet some friends to go chill at the mall, we walked past a supplement store and I remember asking "what is this place?" my cousin replied "It's a place that sells supplements so you can get bigger muscles" - after hearing all that, for the rest of the afternoon I couldn't get that store out of my mind and I insisted that we go back. Why? Well in my opinion, what better way to get respect from your fellow man / get attention from the gals? Muscles! I remember buying so much supplements that day and when I got back home I went on bodybuilding.com reading all those 'inspirational' before and after stories. I remember sitting upright on my chair and as time went by, I was sitting slouched. Must of been hours reading as much as I could about these people and their successes in their journy to gain muscles.

March 15 2007 was the first day I started my bodybuilding journey - Had 6 meals prepared consisting of 30-40grams of protein each (obviously I don't follow this sort of protocol anymore because in my honest opinion it's not very optimal and unnecessary to say the least)

in 2008 I met with a guy by the name of soundsgood and his good friend Elliot. We all had one thing in common, get bigger. These guys were miles ahead of me in the size department. They asked if I wanted to come watch a bodybuilding contest with them in Tauranga, I obliged. I remember we watched the prejuding of that show and we all swore that we would enter that very same competition the following year. No turning back!

In 2009 I met up with someone from this very forum by the name of 1day who took me to his posing coach.. Every Sunday we would meet up as a group to pose and he would correct our posturer / poses - I made sure that everyday I would pose my ass off so I wouldn't look like a fool on stage. Fast forward to September 2009, I entered my very first competition the NZFBB Cetnral North Island championships. I looked at the athletes there and I wanted to just crawl into a fetus position and stick my thumb in my mouth.. What did I just get myself into? These guys are all bigger than I am, i'm wasting my freaking time here.. Not to mention going to embarrass myself infront of a theatre full of audience.. If I was driving alone that day; I would have definitely driven off home. No questions. But I wasn't the driver so i told myself to just man up and do this shit... Fast forward to the prize giving... I made top 3... I didn't expect that but you know what, not bad... They call out third place... Wasn't me... They call out second place... Wasn't me... Wow what a feeling. I could not believe I won.

You get the picture now right? After that show I was HOOKED. I wanted to improve so much and I started to develope a passion for nutrition and I still have that pssion today, infact even greater than when I initially got interested in it. I have won every single competition I have entered (in my class obviously) - I have entered the overalls in all of my competition but obviously I haven't won all of them. In 2011 coming second in the overall to someone who didn't have a tapered physique but came in great condition slowly ate away at me. It inspired me to try and get as lean as I can and to try and win an overall, I was so close to winning an overall I could taste it. In 2013 I entered the Auckland champs where I got what I wanted since 2011.. An overall title. Being crowned Mr Auckland was a great feeling no doubt... But it wasn't satisfying enough for my liking. I wanted a National overall title.

Last weekend I competed in the Nationals but sadly I missed out on the Overall title and came second to the person who I beat in my class back in 2011 - this really killed my self-esteem for a day or two after th competition but now I am back on the horse with my intensity fueled by my one burning desire. The desire to become the best! Not sure when I will compete next but that time will surely come and I will be more improved than ever before.

I will do my best to update you all on my training and nutrition in this blog here. If you want to follow me, that's awesome! If you don't want to follow me, hey that's fine. But my sights are set on that National overall win.. And when that happens, I will be gunning for a natural pro card in the states. I've always achieved everything I've set my sights on and this will be achieved in due time.. : )

Starting tomorrow, the blog will begin!

Week 1

Weight: 70.8kg

Day 1

Power Upper body

3x4 30kg Pull Ups

3x4 60kg Hammer Strength Row machine

3x4 90kg Incline Bench Press

3x4 50kg Dips

3x4 45kg Hammer Strength Shoulder Press

3x4 160kg Shrugs

Obviously as you all can tell, I am not that very strong compared to some of the lifters on here lol and although I felt like I had a lot of energy to expend at the gym, I didn’t feel too strong. I feel that it could be because of lack of sleep and also because I had quite a bit of dietary fats before going into the gym (hardest substrate to be digested out of the macros) – Tomorrow is going to be Power Lower Body and I will definitely take these thoughts into consideration.

Nutrition: 3999.61Cals , 294.44P, 92.89F and 496.46C, 5 Litres of water (64.01Fiber)

Favourite food of the day: 2x Morning Glory pies from Jesters :D

You may notice that I am going against my belief of “you don’t need too much protein” – I want to ensure that this off season I push myself not only in training but also in nutritionally. I’d rather be safe than sorry. This is my first week since the competition (October 13 2013) where I am fully tracking and being disciplined so hopefully weight will come down a bit or at least stabilise. My goal is to not get to 74kg in body weight.. Well, if I do get to 74 I will most likely be a bit out of shape (Already a bit now) – Keep in mind that when I mean out of shape; I mean for myself so don’t go thinking I’m fishing for compliments or I am trying to offend anyone LOL. Aiming for 4,000 calories a day. Honestly I think I should be able to hold my weight with that much... I will let you all know by next Monday.

My initial plan was to reverse diet after the show and get calories in slowly but I’ll be honest and dieting from Feb to Oct – I kind of need a mental break and to catch up on social occasions etc. Plus I don’t think I will compete next year unless I make the necessary changes I want or get that urge to do so... So I want to be inbetween. I don’t want to let myself go like in the past; but I don’t want to be tied down to the restrictions and guilt trips that come with reverse dieting. EVEN though I am a firm believer of you can eat whatever you want; you only have so much calories you can spend and honestly if a good friend or I go on a date at some point I don’t want to be like
“Sorry mate, but I only have 34p, 13f and 65c left and it will be hard to hit my macros ; )” ... f*ck that. I want to be able to live life to its fullest but also keep that progressive overload if that makes sense.

Off to work now... Part time worker at Les Mills, basically a bitch boy. I put your weights away. Put Soundsgood’s weight away yesterday when he was close to spewing from his dropset squats LOL!

Took this picture last night after Carls Jr - That place rocked! Definitely will be back for more at some point!

GR: Thank you mate! Can't wait to see it on the HD DVD : )

Jimmy: Hell yeah dude! Let's have a training session sometime!

FOTR: Thanks mate, everyone has their story and yep. I tell people; if a World of Warcraft player can do it, I'm sure you can too! Lol : )

Leeroid: Thanks mate, like I told you. I think you have one of the best genetics in here. Just got to give it time dude! As for competition, we will see when I feel that urge.. But hopefully I can get a good year or atleast 6 months of 'growth'.. : )

GR: Haha thanks mate, I doubt it I think I could definitely put more size on and conditioning wasn't bad, but definitely can be leaner and I will make sure of that next time : ) - Honestly mate, I think it comes down to just low bodyfat? Keep going until every muscle is lean as and you can hardly pinch it - I could still pinch glutes. Next time I won't hopefully!

Week 1

Weight: 71.0kg

Day 2

Power Lower body

3x4 92kg Standing Calf Raise *Very controlled*

4x4 200kg Leg Press Calf Press

4x4 117.5kg Stiff Leg Dead Lift

3x4 12kg Glute Ham Raise

4x4 120kg Squat *Sit on the ground and count 1 mississippi*

3x4 245kg Leg Press *Bring it down eccentrically and count 1 mississippi, 2 mississippi then press*

Nutrition: 3999.36Cals, 297.51P, 95.65F, 487.12C, 5 Litres of water (87.66 Fibre)

Favourite food of the day: A whole dominos BBQ meat Lover’s pizza (Low carb base) : D

I must say that today I was very happy with my performance and energy levels. There could be two reasons for this. The first being that I took action and got enough sleep while also reducing my dietary fat intake (prior to training) – The pump was great and I felt like the squats I could have done a lot more but I didn’t want to get cocky, I want to gradually add the weight over time. The weight isn’t all that heavy but going very deep and controlled is pretty damn tough in my opinion (for me at least lol)

Despite that I have gained 200grams, I actually look a lot leaner. Striations still on the triceps, lower back, shoulders, chest... Have to squint with the quads and glutes are non-existent. I am going to keep the calories / macros as they are for the next 2-3 weeks and see where I fall on the scale / mirror. Then I will make adjustments accordingly. Again I don’t want to be anywhere near 74kg but I am also not opposed to the idea of getting to 74kg. Play it by intuition I guess! Just want to have less than 10kgs to drop for when I prep again. Main goal is to have fun and improve on my lifts and that will bring the development needed.

High light on the day (posted this on my FB) – got an email from NABBA

"Hi Everyone,
The Official announcement... You have made selection for the NZ Team, for
our next 4 International competitions.

This will allow you to plan ahead.

Of specific attention is the upcoming 2013 NAC Universe Championships to be held in Hamburg, Germany, 30th November.

Please contact me, asap, if you are interested in going with the NZ Team."

Nabba NZ

Bit of an accomplishment I guess you can say – Definitely flattered but at the same time I don’t feel like I deserve it coming 2nd overall at the competition – A lot are telling me to do it but I’d rather secure my spot as the best in the country (for athletic) then venture out with the big boys. Plus even if I wanted to do it; a bit late now that I am eating more and already booked a flight to cairns for snorkling , diving and heaps of other stuff : ) – the way I see it is; if I can ‘wow’ the judges next time I compete and take it out, I will most likely get this offer again and I will take it to see what I am like amongst the best of the best. For now there is much work to do in this game and in real life.

Speaking of real life; I have lost my desire to play video games (completely) and even though my hormones are back to normal - love seeing gals at the gym with their spandex lol, but the only thing I think about is nutrition and the science of the body lol. Not sure if that’s a good thing or an OCD thing lol. Will be training glutes tonight later at JETTs with a good friend – I think the best way to get striated muscle is not only get ‘shredded’ but to have decent development in the area too so we shall see! Definitely something I’ll keep you all updated with. : )

Hey, congrats on the selection! But I think you're making the right call. If you aren't feeling the urge to compete right now, then any competition is just going to be a drag - let alone the hard work that's required to compete at an international level.

Much better to take a holiday, then come back refreshed. Expecially if you're diving in Cairns (that's on my to-do list). Do you do much diving in NZ?

Hey mate congrats on being selected and the latest competition. I always enjoy reading your views on training and nutrition as a lot of the time they are different to mine and not in a bad or incorrect  way I just enjoy reading them. Which brings me to my question which is not a challenge at all, I know you you believe in a if it fits your macros then eat it type approach and you don't think meal timings are very important.... In your first training entry you said you felt what I interpret as weak or sluggish and you thought a reason could be because you had too many fats... Isn't that kinda contradicting yourself when you say meal timings aren't important? People might say it doesnt affect body composition but I know it affects physical performance and that translates into body composition as that is why we train to better out composition and physical appearance.

As I said I'm not calling you out so don't take it the wrong way, just curious.

GR: Haha thanks for the kind words GR! Honestly if I can do it, so can you... I know I can do a bit better too! Just aim for the stars, you might not get there at the start but eventually you will man. Never let anyone tell you otherwise - I've had tons of people (ages ago not now) tell me I have no chance or I am a skinny *insert swear word* that won't make it. Infact I think I made a post in 2010 comparing myself to Sanjeev Narayan and about half or more said I don't have what it takes. Granted still don't have a taper like his but that's fine. If there is one mistake I've made is comparing myself to others - Don't ever do this, there's no point. It will only do two things.

1 ) Make you think you're better than what you really are

2 ) Discourage the hell out of you

Just aim to be a better you : )

Pseudonym: Dude thank you for the gift voucher! Got my cookies n cream protein powder lmao : ) put it on my oats and it tastes pretty damn good! Although I'ma huge cookies n cream fan - I love my chocolate... I love competing but at the same time I want to come back a bit more improved. I know what needs to be worked on and I just need to put my head down and do my homework at the gym. But yes mate, you're very right. Sometimes you need a holiday just to like.. Come back hungrier and I still plan to train there because my mate wants to - but it's going to be a lot of fun. Never done diving before and apparently the great barrier reef is amazing :D

RT: First off mate, nah I won't ever take offense to anything you or anyone else says - I want this blog to just share my inner most feelings an thoughts - you can ask any question or dispute any claim I do, that's totally fine! I rather have that actually. To answer you question - I still don't think meal timing is relevant... TOWARDS body composition. But towrads trainnig? Hell yeah man it does. But I still believe the only meal that matters is the meal prior to training... Sometimes I don't have my 'post workout' meal until like 3 hours or so. But sometimes I have it like straight after the gym. All on how busy or how I feel really. Hope that makes sense? Can't wait to squat again man that was easy! Hope I didn't jynx myself lmfao.

ONPT: Hey champ! - Have any of you seen this guy? Honestly best light weight on this forum hands down - thank you for posting on my blog :D - humbled - Yeah I am hard on myself eh. I am just ampd to come back better than ever! I also reckon you're the epitome of 'being too hard on yourself  ;) - honestly everything you is true and I agree mate. At the end of the day, if you can beat your previous in any shape or form even by 1% that's a win really. I still look at people like yourself or the natural pros and just tell myself I got a long way to go. The moment I start to think "yeah I'm not bad." that's the day I know I will fail. The hunger for more!

Today is my off day but I want to incorporate bicep training. going to go at 8pm. It won't be a long workout but really want to focus that mind muscle connection and get a good pump. Hypertrophy training starts tomorrow. Will update the blog soon!

PS: Got tons of quest bars when I was dieting and now I have no desire to eat them... LOL

Week 1

Weight: 70.8kg

Day 3

OFF DAY... (Biceps?)

3x10 30kg cable curls (Eccentric dominated work)

3x10 12kg Incline preacher single arm dumbbell curl

3x10 15kg Seated hammer curls (Eccentric dominated work)

3x20 20kg Reverse EZ bar curls (Eccentric dominated work)

3x10 40kg Seated incline machine curl

Nutrition:4001.01 286.20P, 118.75F, 446.87C, 5L water, 53.34 Fibre

Even though it was meant to be my off day today I was just motivated to smash the hell out of my biceps so I did a pretty quick workout for them, took some selfies and then ended up chatting away for a while to some of the members at JETTS lol. Gotta admit I was very vascular and full looking today. Definitely good pump and was first day wearing a singlet to the gym lol! Usually all covered up but gotta make the most of it before the dreaded Arabian genetics summon the hair follicles back lol. Excuse the facials y'all.

Also went to the bathroom to have a sneak peak at the end of the session and still see some leanness in the legs but definitely added some fat. So long as I can maintain this bodyfat I will be happy but we will see. Still early days..

All n all, great bicep workout. Time to finish off some work before bed then do chest, tri an shoulder tomorrow. :D Can't wait. Want to get a fuller chest and more capped deltoids.

Week 1

Weight: 70.8kg

Day 4

Chest / Triceps / Shoulders

3x9 85kg Incline benchpress

3x9 85kg Flat benchpress

3x9 52.5kg Decline hammer strength

3x9 145lbs Peck deck

3x9 80kg/60kg/40kg Cable push downs (Drop set, 9 reps each drop set)

3x9 20kg Ez bar front raise (Slow eccentric)

3x9 15kg/10kg/5kg Lateral raises (Drop set, 9 reps each drop set)

3x9 100lb Reverse peck deck

3x9 130kg barbell shrug (very slow contraction since weight wasn't too heavy)

Nutrition: 3998.80 Cal, 302.18P, 102.74F, 466.35C, 120Fibre (From quest bars that's how it got so high lol) 4L of water

Favourite meal of the day: All of it : ) - was very 'clean' lol.

Great workout and great pump, a pump I never felt before..! The benching felt very easy and light - was actually repping it pretty fast but still felt my chest being hit. Triceps got a great pump indirectly from the benching then when it came to the dropsets, my shirt was filled. Awesome feel and look lol. Had a friend approach me and was surprised to see how 'big' i gotten. I wish it was all muscle but most likely none of it is lmao.. Delts never recieved such a pump, it hurt like hell... That's an area I definitely want to improve upon just because I feel it lacks in some poses.

Speaking of poses, That is how I guage what needs to be worked on. I don't just look at the mirror and say "you need to work on your legs" - if I can hit a pose and it looks freaking awesome then that to me means the muscle there is in balance. So far I am confident with the following poses

- Front relaxed

- Side relaxed (both)

- Back relaxed

- Front latspread

- Side chest from the right side

- Side tricep from the right side

- Back lat spread

- Abs and thigh

The ones I really feel I need to work on are the following and as to why...

- Back double bicep:  Posing is great I feel but missing back thickness and hamstrings could be a bit better, I guess this goes with the lat spread too..

- Side chest from the left side: Posing is great, but perhaps a bit more upper chest... Not so much on my other side chest, perhaps it could be a posing issue..

- Side tricep from the left side: AWEFUL posing and just the whole pose looks like utter crap. Definitely will be working on this DAILY - high body fat or not lol.

- Front double bicep: Need I say anything? Biceps are non existent ! Nah actually they are looking a lot better! But still a joke really.

- Most Muscular: Have to do hands on hip in the class I compete in and I can't stand this pose! I know why I can't, because I need more deltoid caps and bigger arms, mainly a greater seperation of the bicep and tricep.

Basically the next time I compete I want to say or think that in every pose I hit I am 100% confident that it's my best pose. Leg day tomorrow and I can't wait to smash it! :D

Clueless: Hey mate, trust me - despite what everyone says about me being lean still - they are 100% wrong. Added quite a bit of body fat but I really could care less - I don't see myself competing again for a long time. But to answer your question, I think whether I eat a lot or be at a higher bodyfat, I think I wlil still have a hard time adding muscle. Getting harder and harder every year so I am going to track my workouts and try to increase my strength. I am going to aim for 1kg of muscle a year - I mean whether I get less or more, that's my goal anyway... I definitely want to have some what of an improved physique for the next time I compete but at the same time I want to enjoy life but also get my shit together for my future lol : ) we will see what happens.

Jeez I ramble on too much. My bad!

Rapz: Thank you bro : ) - If I had 2 weeks or so I think I woulda been on point! But definitely was happy with it! And now I'm happy with where I'm sitting at. : )

4,000kcal a day is easy imo... I hit the necessary food that gives me my vitamins and minerals and then I find calorie dense food like pizza or pies etc - I only do this ONCE I capture the important food first, otherwise I might start abusing them 'bad' food lol!

Dude wish I had your size, you look incredible!

Will update my log shortly y'all.

Day 5

Hamstring / Glutes / Quads

3x9 4kg Glute ham raises

3x9 72kg Laying hamstring curl

3x9 60kg Seated hamstring curl

4x15 50lb Abductor (Max weight so trying to add more sets / reps each time)

2x9 180,120,80,40kg Leg press dropset

1x 20kg walking lunges outside

2x9 94kg Leg extension

Nutrition: 2760.29Calories 159.28P / 86.15F / 336.97C / 54.77 Fibre / 3L water (Obviously It's only like half past 2 so I still got like what 12-1300 cals left. Got work soon so gotta make some food for me to munch out on over there!

Favourite food of the day: 2x Steak and cheese pies

Weight: 69.9

Wow what a fucking pump! (Excuse my Arabic..) - I honestly think it's because of the 'pre workout' macros - basically 70-80P, 20F and around 90-100C 1.5-2 hours before training. - Like my focus, my drive my recovery is just mind blowing, don't think I've felt this in my previous times I've trained (in the other seasons obviously) - or it could be the increase in calories after competition. Or because I felt that I got ripped off from the comp! LOL - that there sore loser mentality. I guess there are many factors but I am defintely going to keep the preworkout macros as they are for every training session. I honestly suggest you guys figuring out what macros suit you before training and finding the right time.

Weight dropped a little, I won't increase calories. I want to stay on this amount of calories for like a month or so before I readjust.. Hopefully it stablizes around here then I can start increasing lol. I definitely look leaner and fuller this morning. Striations on the quads more apparent, hamstrings seperation from the quads most definite, xmas tree lower back DEFINITELY there... Glutes = fat as f*ck lol. Feels weird to see them like that but oh well. I'm all good with that... For now.

Even though it was an amazing workout and I feel like I gave it quite a bit, I still feel like "I could have hit my hamstrings harder" - Anyone else feel that way? I don't think I've ever walked out thinking (with any day) "Yeah that was good, I'm done." lol

Here's a picture of a protein bar my aunty sends from America - Big 100 colossal peanut butter caramel crunch. So freaking nice man lol.

Ah well, time to go to work! Never a dull moment.
