Nice pics bro. Matt Jones looks awesome. He is still only 19 years old.

2 guns , yeah 280 bro .. i know that sounds like shit, but i have spotted him doing it a few times , 6 and a half plates on each side and the guy just walks back off the rack and does it . god knows how, 3 a side is heavy enough when its accross your back . Have seen him do 6 plates unassisted for 6 reps few times. Pretty honest squats to.

I know some dudes will read that and go " yeah right " but you go watch him do a leg train and you can back me up bro he's a freak. trains with so much weight and goes so hard i have seen him flake out on the floor purple in the face with blue lips a couple of times as well. And once again thats no shit.

il believe when i see it, not doubting u but claims people say they lift in the gym i dnt normally take too seriously til i actaully c it.

but i know he is a very committed guy and trains and eats real well.

i think he will have abit of competition if he decides to do the nxfbb nats this year tho. should be a good year!

:) The insane thing is that it's true.

6 and a half 20 kg plates a side . like i said i lived with matt from may 2006 until this year and trained with him off and on right up until he left for auckland 2 weeks ago.

His leg trains at our gym were always the same, he would come in, put his mp3 player on do a couple of warmup sets and then just keep on slapping on plates. i used to pull out at 140 kg and then just spot him as he kept going up. after he got up to about 4 a side he would bang his wraps on his knees and keep on going.

Matt gets up to 6 a side almost every time he does legs so i'm sure you guys up north will see it for yourself soon enough.

I have seen/spotted him doing that weight ( 260 ) about 10 times and have spotted him at 280 a couple.

People in the gym just stand there gobsmacked when he starts squatting that, even the older guys that have been training for years. Only 2 guys in the gym could match matts weight on the rack and both of them are guys that have competed as powerlifters on a national level in their 30s.

And we aint talking 1 or 2 reps, i have seen him load up 260 on the bar and get 6 good reps on his own before he needed a spot, and seen him get 4 at 280. Then watch as he goes back down to 5,4,3, a side for reps until he cant stand.

He could easily get a couple at 300 but has never tried but i'm sure he will in the near future.

It's a sight to behold.. and that's the truth.. 8)

fair enough guys. i know if someone told me a 19 year old guy was squatting that much weight i would just be thinking yeah right pull the other one. but like i said , 2 guns has met him , knows the guys he is living with up in auckland now, i'm down in taranaki, I'm sure 2 guns will get to see him train legs in the next couple of weeks and then he can back me up. But it's the truth, i dont even think i could even stand up under that much weight.

I will get Matt to do legs in two weeks as he needs to recover from the comp also i will take some pic for all you to see and I will get 2guns to be there to.

Good on you for giving him a rest. The guy needs it. I see first hand the torment he puts himself through when he is dieting.

Pics will tell the tale....
