Traveling with a criminal record

Hey.

unfortunately as an unguided teen I ended up with a couple of DIC charges, this is going back 10 years.

Ive been to ozzy and lived/worked there and just decleared them and seemed no problem.

but what about somewhere like Russia?

have you had any problems visiting countries with criminal records and what did you do to make sure everything was sweet?

Id hate to think the dumb shit we did affected the chance to travel to other countries. .....maybe get more youth into lifting to avoid such a dilemma :)

yeah clean slate doesnt apply to travel..

best bet is contact the consulate of wherever you wanna go beforehand, most likely you'll have to fill a form and be sweet. I have worse than dic's (dumbass age 15-20) and im ok to go pretty much anywhere just have to explain myself. better than lying and ticking no convictions at customs then getting sent home after paying for flights etc.

I thought it was 12 months jail or longer for NZ Harry, and after 7 years they're not interested, from memory..!!

Best course of action is not to mention anything DIC is bugger-all, I am aware of someone thats travelled to over 25 countrys with criminal convictions for ABH & GBH, and has not mentioned it with no issues... *mosking*

I haven't read that link yet but wil.

Id hate to lie about it and get stuck in some foreign land and sent home. Also I have already decleared going to Australia so I assume it's in my passport.

Helen Clark, what a women :) yeah looks like 7 years and your sweet, obviously conditions apply.

i rang the travel agent out if interest and they are going to contact te Russians and ill post back what they say.

but I get the feeling old school DIC etc shouldn't be to much if a prob....fingers crossed

If you are travling to the states with crimnal record  it might be best to contact the United states Embassy and ask about travling to the states  with crimnal record given the way that things are in post 9/11 world

yeah you'd probably be considered a threat to their national security as you might get drunk and hijack a plane to get back to your house or something
