lost some consistency with training over the past month just lots of crap i had to do after work to finish sussing car out. cars at tuners now just getting the final good stuff done by professionals on the dyno.  back to normal now, train 3-4x times a week . love just going in and focusing on my workout with those short 30 second rests, in and out with lots of volume in 45 mins. more time to try fit in extra meal before bed and actually sleep at a decent hour.  still maintaining 66kg fairly lean.. hopefully back to making some lean gains soon.

@PETN yep wrx sti. not sure how much you wanna know but i'm in my gearhead mode right now so here you go. saw you've done a bit of work on your car yourself, could have used your welding / fabrication skills lol. on my to do list to learn! i knew sfa about cars when i got it and now i've pulled out and refitted almost every thing in / around it so been an amazing process.

i had to do a bit of work with rebuilding the shocks (and learning how to do all this in the process which has been heaps of fun), fitting a turbo previous owner threw in the deal that he never really got around to fitting (custom one by steve murch with downpipe and properly plumbed in external wastegate) , also took care of upgrading to inline fuel filter, external fuel pumps chuck in anti surge tank so no worries about leaning out and prepared for e85 down the line. all other mods done by previous owner just not certified so i've been having to deal with that pain in the ass bs nzta process to re-register/lvv cert it up mainly shit like fabricate brackets and things to tie things down or bring them within regulation, prove whats been used and that it meets standards/conforms to structural integrity guidelines - all annoying stuff but i can see why they need me to do it. been a pretty full on 2 months working almost every night doing something or other but hopefully this car should never need to go through that process again as the cert papers will cover everything possible you'd need a cert for other than stancenation wheels which will never go on this anyway.

estimate current set up good for 270ish kw at wheels (last tune was 250kw) but will have dyno results next week so know for sure. it's currently getting link ecu fitted up with anti lag and some dyno time to make sure it runs properly and doesn't explode on me (touch wood lol) . next i'll just need to spend decent time behind the wheel get used to driving it since HD clutch and lightened flywheel is pretty new to me. plan on chuckin in flex fuel sensor and get an e85 map tuned up some point in the year, after that not much else as that should easily carry me over the 300kw line which is heaps for a car that weighs this much.

.. and on the outside it looks completely stock bar being fitted with toyo semi slicks

Yeah that's what I was after. Can you get E85 at the pump in NZ? 270kW on 98 is pretty good for an EJ20, or is yours EJ25? Still plenty.  I leaned out an EJ20G ages ago and it blew about a quarter of one of the pistons into the sump. Only had the stock grey injectors and was running 19psi, so bound to happen, although I got 3500km of mostly hard driving out of it like that.

Will have to race you when I bring my gsr lancer back to nz lol. I only do fab stuff on my 4x4s or the gfs car where it usually doesn't matter if it's a bit rough. Actually hate working on cars in general, just like driving them and only do work to save myself being ripped off. I find it terrible for the gym also though. Almost never end up going.

awesome man, look forward to it! gsr = the evo 3 right?  dont know much about them other than they go hard and look sexy as hell. when you bring yours to nz make sure you do your research on which certifier you go through as some (like the one i got) are picky af.

nope mines ej207 and definitely i'm super happy with the level of power it has still easy to daily but i can still have fun when im not stuck in  bumper to bumper. yep e85 is available at the pump now but still rare.only 1 pump in auckland around the north shore, you can also get it in hamilton and pukekohe

my pride and joy right now, this and the bike been keeping me from gym as a bit of a wannabe mechanic recently. i am yet to figure out how exactly a carburetor works and how to rejet after mucking around with it...

Gsr is basically like a shit evo. 1.8 turbo awd. Similar thing to a r32 gts4 vs r32 gtr. Think some evos are badged as evo gsr but that's not what Ive got. Mine has the shit ripped out and evo 2 engine and running gear in it with forged internals and aftermarket cams etc. List of shit done to it is pretty long and I didn't do any of it. Plan is bigger injectors and run a safe 23psi. Atm only 16/12  psi high/low and apparently guy that built it did a 12.5 1/4 mile in it at the drags at 16 psi. No idea exactly what power it's putting down but goes a lot harder that the EJ205 wrx I had did at 16psi although that only had td04 which is a small and shit turbo for top end and imo more suited to boosting diesel L series hilux engines lol. Definitely not 270kW though.

Fuck E85 tune where I am. I can get it from one place in Darwin and then it's like 3000km + to anywhere else with it.

I'm not going to get it certed or VINZd probably. I don't use insurance so not much point. Planning on bringing it in as a not for road use vehicle then just getting a cheap lancer same colour and just using the plates and (maybe) tags on mine and driving it on road. Then swap back for WOF lol. A lot less hassle and expense than vinz+cert.

EJ207 is good bro.

fuk waiting on tuner to send the dyno sheet through but not what i was expecting at all ! apparently its very responsive turbo making power earlier than before but recommended moving on to front mount to get more out of it... 55degrees intake air temp apparently too much heat soak with my top mount :\ 241kw at 22.5psi , 210 wheel kw at 14psi not super impressed seeing as its 20 less than the last tune but it is what it is, was expecting more but will wait for dyno sheets and see how different it feels before judging too much

i like your idea about swapping the tags lol, that stuff only held on with pop rivets anyway right, should be all good to swap out. levle of engine upgrades sounds like its got heaps of potential

Maaaate you should have got an Evo! haha just kiddin.

Pretty decent for a near stock Sti though isn't it? Those ones seem to be pretty beast.  Has it got any head work or that?

I'd say chucking a front mount on like you said will help enormously.

Evo's do seem to respond very well to mods. My evo5 threw down 270kw +  at wheels and only real performance mods I have are 272 cams and turbo back exhaust. Tuned on a Link g4 @ ~18psi. Also got a larger intercooler than stock.

I wouldn't worry too much about peak dyno figures. You'll probably like the increased responsiveness etc even though it made less power. My evo makes more power now but feels a little different, like kinda smoother in some gears.

Good luck with sorting it out though man looking forward to hearing how it goes and how much power you make. Sounds like it's gonna be a beast!

i heard evos respond amazing to mods which is why i was originally considering just paying a bit more and getting one but  i got way too good a deal on this STI to pass it up. was close mates car so i know entire history.

yep it's not the power that was promised but the ride home as fun as fk, it drives so much better now im pretty bloody happy. need to do a fair bit of saving or hope for a massive pay rise (or both) but my planned upgrades for next year is gonna be flex fuel sensor, front mount, some kind of gtx turbo (need to resarch bit more to find exact one) and retune. launch control bit of a fun thing but i'll rarely use it... anti lag on the other hand is dangerous, it sounds so damn good i could be tempted to run it all day until the turbo melts lol

hahaha nice man glad to hear. When does the boost kick in?

So are you running anti lag? Sounds fucking awesome aye haha.

yeah bro got anti lag / launch control on there with a switch, love that race car sound.

the high / low boost switch is also there to jump between the two maps. on low boost map it hits 14.4 psi at 4500 rpm and on high boost reaches 23.5psi at 5000rpm which it slightly drops to 22 and holds all the way to redline. got lightened flywheel there too so is a bit of a rev happy beast haha

What is anti lag?  Always read people wanking on about it on Subaru forums. Assuming it just increases your idle speed/slows your rev drop off so when you change gears rpm doesn't drop much and keeps your turbo spooling but that's just a guess.

yeha good guess,, slows the rev drop off by retarding the timing some what , some extra fuel is burnt in the exhaust which causes the pops / flames and the exhaust gasses keeps the turbo spooling.  idle speed is slightly higher too and can configure to whatever level of pressure you want to maintain

training was making me more and more nauseous threw up while lifting had a bit of a moment and left that last session was 19th march lol. seen specialist since and we moving things along quickly, doing bunch of tests as he can't figure out why a skinny guy like me would get this type of hernia and doesn't think its the lifting that caused it - only elderly, pregnant and obese people normally get apparently.

anyway not sure why so curious just asked to fix me. 3rd endoscopy coming up now, many blood tests  and abdominal ultrasounds been done the actual operation is hopefully not too far away. pretty keen to hit the iron again at some point.

Sorry to hear you're back wrestling this problem again, bro. But it's good that you've finally got a specialist actively investigating it. Hopefully the resolution is not far off.

the dumbest thing is i had private insurance that would have covered it all along but had slipped from my mind so wasted too much time with the public system.  after it really screwed me up on a date (i'll spare the details lol) i was like bugger it thats the final straw ill go pay see specialist myself . they asked about southern cross and i was like wait a minute, i got that! they sorted out the prior approvals and i've only had to pay for a couple minor things so far which will be reimbursed eventually. now i deal with the same guy who will take this from end to end instead of seeing different people and he specialises in this particular type of hernia so things looking hopeful

Please go into the details of what happened on the date

its not that great a story just a night that i felt otherwise would have headed in a good direction but if you insist..

had dinner and managed to keep everything in check through the night then decided to go in for the kiss as it seemed to be going well, threw up in my mouth moments before and awkwardly backed out. was wierd look on her face and i was just blank with no recovery from that so walked in separate directions waited for her to be out of line of sight and chucked on the grass and gapped it to my car where i keep an unordinarily large stash of chewing gum for such occasions. a shame to let one of my very few tinder matches go like that but cbf explaining the situation at the time.

not bothering with any social eating events / dates involving for now, though i find even conversation with  people that move their hands/heads around a lot while talking brings up nausea enough to trigger it so really just need to avoid life for a bit . not sure why it suddenly got worse as i been avoiding the big powerlifting stuff, eating much lighter and healthier in general etc. even a sip of water can set me off so maybe that hole is getting bigger or something

they gave me this other medicine 'metoclopramide hcl' which pretty much kills the nausea 100% but it also makes me real slow & shit at work and slows my speech right down to the point where i sound retarded so not really worth the benefits imo just waiting for permanent solution rather than compounding medication

haha fu! cant believe they passed this as a possibility to me that time and i fell for it. the vomitting part is defs 100% physical and im actually really releived about that because physical shit is easier to fix, atleast thats how i feel lol.

mentally im feeling way better than i was last year still got a ways to go but when shit comes back to hit me im slowly getting better at dealing with it.
