Pseudo messaged me about this thread ...

<dispensing career advice to someone I've never met and who hasn't asked me for it starts here ... >

I'd put a zero in your list:

0) decide if you want to be the boss or not.

and I don't mean boss like in all the gym meme's. I mean the guy responsible for the outcome.

Like every single industry on the planet, you can be the boss, the person in charge, the guy responsible for the outcome. That's exactly what a PM does. Fundamentally the role of the PM = make the shit happen, on time, on budget, no excuses. That comes with stress. No getting around it, it is stressful because it involves other people; their safety, making them do stuff on time, keeping them happy, and answering questions to other people about progress/budget/quality/risks/issues/etc. People are not robots (yet!) and having a discussion with Jeff and John about working the weekend because they're running late is not fun for anyone, especially the PM!

Same stress comes with being the boss in every other industry. Imagine being the foreman on a construction site building a high rise building - being responsible for every one's safety AND getting a fucking building built AND a budget!?  Or imagine being Captian of a Navy Ship, or Executive at a Timber factory, or even shift manager at McDonalds! Nobody gives a f*ck if the the Navy Captain has been awake 36hrs straight and is feeling tired or stressed - if the ship runs a-ground she's getting court-martialled!

You don't have to be the boss.

In the IT industry you can do a heap of cool roles (e.g. a developer, tester, IT Architect, Infrastructure engineer ....), get paid well, do interesting work and have no responsibility other than getting your own shit finished on time and to a spec given to you. You can work 9-5 if you want and still be part of something bigger than yourself.

So my advice to you is start at step zero. Either options is very a good decision, but just making that decision will help you put everything else in perspective.

<End of my un-called for wisdom ....>

thanks dude , the problem isn't really that i need to work overtime now and then.. if that was all i be sweet. the problem is for 6 months i been working at LEAST 10 hours a day (usually more, plus weekends) with no down time at all lol. big diff.. i still like something about the job which is why i stayed, some kind of wierd satisfaction. i am thinking of other career options but also discussed with TL today and she raise some of the stuff with bosses boss. they confirmed they have put up ad for 3 more people and will look to fill in asap. there is light at the end of the tunnel. i was a part of the problem it seems, bit too much of a yes man and didn't push back when my boss committed me to things, just work extra to get shit done on time / on budget - and i def been getting shit done no question about that and when im more stable (if i end up staying) i will be raising the question of pay review sooner than later cos its shit compared to the money im making our dept (the wierdest thing is i can bill the customers for working 70 hour weeks but not get paid by company for 70 hour weeks, hmm!) . anyway all this weeks shit got sorted in the end, got some teams urgently sorted thanks to bit of GM pressure and got heaps done, there are good people who really go the extra mile when you reach out for help, i gotta stop being an idiot loner in my problems and get in on the team thing more.

i also confidentially raised separately with TL about counsellor which is gonna be sorted next week keep my ass from bouncing around. atleast that will give me a clear, unbias/independant view of what to do about my health situation.

Who cares, you're doing it. All that matters. It's your first Comp just focus on making it a good experience. Aim for the good performance next time. I think you might surprise yourself. What did you DL tonight?

VERY frustrating session tonight but went in and did it. i think i fucked up but humbled me a bit on my current limits so i can go in to comp and set a more realistic starting weight.

2 hrs deadlift only session today ((yeah i know i dragged it out too long, especially so late at night!)

61kg bodyweight

warmups with light weights practice the form on 5reps, 3 reps, up to 1 rep as weight move up (same way i done when hit the 1rms on 170, 180, 190 PR in previous months)

done 160 x 1, 170x1 , 180x1, then straight to 200 attempt.. it wouldnt go up. in my frustration i kept trying it every 2-3 min for 40mins before calling it a day. dropped down to 190, nope. 180, nope..... not even 160 by this point. whatever my weight is on comp day, im gonna set the 3rd lift attempt to 3x bodyweight and the 1st and 2nd attempts to something i know i can hit easy like 160/170 so i know i dont get DQ from attempting too heavy too soon. this is the first time i fail in training since past few months so not gonna take it too hard.

tomorrow bench max attempt, then super light squat on monday, full body light work on wednesday. comp on saturday

decent destresser weekend planned. yeh i got some work to do but also going snow planet for 1st time, dinner with mates and some hiking on sunday. gonna be staying 100% positive in lead up to next sat just like the legendary @GymRat in his buildups to nats.

attempted 80 touch and go, stuck on the way up, had to drop it. got stuck under the bar for a bit (video below for lolz)

wore long socks to hide my tiny indian calves.

What's with the cliffhanger ending? Will FOTR manage to escape? Or is he still pinned under there, slowly starving away? Tune in next week, dear viewer, to find out...

Honestly, I expect that shit with Game of Thrones. But not here.

day 2 i am stilll here. someone pls rescue me.

lol jk, not sure why bloody youtube upload cropped out the end, deleted original video off phone too to save space. i rolled it a little to near my abs, done a bit of a lying vacuum pose, then wriggled out sideways. no injuries or anything but next time gonna remember to set spotter bars slightly higher. 77.5 was not a grind at all so wasn't expecting 80 to feel like this. for comp since you have to pause it and i have barely been pausing my lifts i reckon ill just start with 60 and take it up from there. smalll gains to be made in that dept may as well play it safe and not get disqualified. doing light squats today. legit dont know what my 1rm is and too late to test it. will just do warmups and plan squat on the day, maybe starting at 130 for first lift and work my way up from there. only first comp and after a yr off i only trained for 4 months not sure why i been overthinking this as if i gotta win lol

Looking pretty big now in the video bro, probably would be bigger than me if I had the same height.

For all thats happening to you, you have been fairly consistent with your training and diet and not let your other issues set you back in training. Thats pretty admirable and deserves praise, keep up the good work.

Would say the same for your other hobbies as well, good on you that your still keeping up with doing the things you enjoy and not letting the other stuff overwhelm you.

Good shit.
