If you mention it and stay then gives you grounds at a later date to take them to employment tribunal for not taking your complaints or position seriously and either creating or exacerbating you're mental health issues. Then they can not only pay for your counselling (you might meet a sympathetic and single female counsellor) they might also pay for hrt because the long hours and lack of appreciation have killed your testosterone levels.

think u know what i mean by end it bro.

job is pretty shit now yeah. i get paid 55k only and they wouldnt raise me on that at all lol, PMO isnt even a profit center typically but i bring in our dept consistently 15-20k a month thres really no excuse nto to pay more, but at this point even if they offer more it wont keep me. nah they have no grounds to fire me, i aint done any unprofessional shit and part of why im busy is that some clients will only have me work on stuff cos the others here dont pay as much attention to detail. i slipped a bit recently going nuts and shit but the workload is sickening.

typical weekdays 9-5 office, home at 6, eat gym til around 8 , work til 10-midnight or beyond (last couple weeks been up til around 2-3am). weekends i try to switch off full CBF mode but at times there are some important cutovers where i have to be on to support the engineers and direct stuff. the weekends where i get no calls or switch my laptop on are the best but very rare.  also its pure salary work no overtime / time and half etc. just load me up with crap that i dont get a choice about, no mercy for being a junior who just started recently or nothing.

and yeah i already discussed the mental problems with boss and team lead. boss was a bit of a bitch actually was like"no wonder you been so uptight recently i hope you snap out of it. i think you should drink more alcohol after work that usually helps" thats all i got when i told her the docs assessment of my situation. my team lead was more empathetic of situation but no authority to do much really.

lol thx brahs this place is full of interesting people,  i been feeling down again and think ive transitioned to 100% mental. i was just gonna keep some things to myself and end it soon yolo style but let me turn this lifting thread in to kkk counselling and see if anyone can help? i feel good when i go out in weekends then go back to work smashes every ounce of my spirit down currently. dunno if work my problem or what is root cause really.

i dunno if im going crazy or if this is just some symptoms of depression or some shit but i been having some vivid dreams that feel so real, but the fucked up thing is its not fantasy shit its its just like i re-live my shitty real life when i go bed, i never recharge and my mind is racing in full adrenaline mode all day shaking & stuff and i confuse shit that happen between them and dunno what is real and what isnt anymore, my brain is fried. think i broke my metabolism again too. i feel so exhausted when i wake up and its been getting worse each day. i get confused between which one is real and hwich one is the fake dream, i had a convo with my boss and i swear it was fukin dejavu, most days feel like iuve already done the same shit.  my realization that i was officially crazy was when i found out it was in 'my other life' i been doing work on one of my projects to push it across the deadline but in this 'life' turns out i had barely done anything on it for two weeks and the critical milestone is due today. im gonna tell my boss the truth tomorrow , or in my dream or whatever and find out if company has counselling or someshit. we had 2 more ppl from our team resign today. thats like 3 ppl who left this year, 2 of which joined this year too!  we were already down 2 heads and now with this the worklaod gonna get more shitty. i need out but cant afford to just gap it either , the big boss says its too hard to find experienced people to join our team and that 'things will get better soon <insert OP will surely deliver skeleton pic here>

**** full potatoe crew checking in ****

not sure what to do from here. pls respond gymnation. things get good then i f*ck it all up again with wierd shit like this. was afraid i would turn in to certain other member of this forum if i medicate but maybe i should consider? or it would just be worse? should i just go full yolo mode and end burning out bright rather than drag this shit out?

We had 12 engineers leave this year and we only had 20 to begin with! So I understand work load struggles but your companies short falls shouldn't be adopted by yourself.

Im assuming you don't have a mortgage so probably best to move on and quit your job if you aren't enjoying it your employer might try make things more comfortable with might help for a bit but truth is we out grow places.

Even getting a job outside of IT might be refreshing with PM experience can transition easily to other industries. A lot of our PMs aren't engineers , not a role that I would personally like to have that for sure...

Yeah your boss is a piece of shit. What kind of advice is telling someone with mental issues/depeession to drink more after work?Just leave. That money is rubbish too but yeah pretty typical entry level nz salary.

I do long hours atm but like once I go home that's it. No more thinking about it. And I make lots of my money on overtime as it's time and a half so I don't mind. In last fortnight made more from overtime than normal salary lol.

If I got asked to do it without a extra pay whatsoever I'd tell them to get fucked. Not my problem if project is delayed or incurrs unnecessary costs because someone else has unreasonable expectations of me.

What financial commitments do you have? What ties or whatever do you have holding you back from going somewhere better?

You'll die relatively soon anyway man. 50 more years won't seem like long once it's passed. Better off to just ride it out.

Site works the best. Working in some countries our allowance is greater than salary alone and tax free!

OP get a new job 55k and living in Auckland is rubbish

other thing is if you think you may have something mental going on, see a doctor sooner rather than later. brain is organ like rest of body can get sick.

bro here is what you do based on my experience shifting up roles quite quickly and not getting too badly walked over.

book meeting with your boss

tell her you are unhappy with the conditions and you appreciate all the support and development you've been offered BUT you are starting to burn out and you want to either work 9-5 or be paid for overtime.

you work for [MOD EDIT: Name removed] yeah? big enough company that can't afford a scandal if you go blabbing about how shit they treat you.

Much easiler getting better roles and money once you have experience.

Start looking and line something up

Dad used to work for (((them))) a few years ago. Doing PM.

What specifically are you working on? Dont think he liked them very much either but worked less hours probably double salary.

Maybe try a different company or get your name out there as well rather than a career change.

Have you tried working solo as a PM contractor? More flexibility in hours, better pay probably, but would have to spend extra $$ on chartered accountant since double tax and more paperwork.

Also from what I can remember he went to bosses house for dinner, or taken out for lunch / pub etc not told to drink more or called uptight.

Pseudo messaged me about this thread ...

shot bros i guess i just got my whinge session out the way, my conclusions here

1) i need to harden up a bit

2) find new job asap

3) gymnation is full of GC

<dispensing career advice to someone I've never met and who hasn't asked me for it starts here ... >

I'd put a zero in your list:

0) decide if you want to be the boss or not.

and I don't mean boss like in all the gym meme's. I mean the guy responsible for the outcome.

Like every single industry on the planet, you can be the boss, the person in charge, the guy responsible for the outcome. That's exactly what a PM does. Fundamentally the role of the PM = make the shit happen, on time, on budget, no excuses. That comes with stress. No getting around it, it is stressful because it involves other people; their safety, making them do stuff on time, keeping them happy, and answering questions to other people about progress/budget/quality/risks/issues/etc. People are not robots (yet!) and having a discussion with Jeff and John about working the weekend because they're running late is not fun for anyone, especially the PM!

Same stress comes with being the boss in every other industry. Imagine being the foreman on a construction site building a high rise building - being responsible for every one's safety AND getting a fucking building built AND a budget!?  Or imagine being Captian of a Navy Ship, or Executive at a Timber factory, or even shift manager at McDonalds! Nobody gives a f*ck if the the Navy Captain has been awake 36hrs straight and is feeling tired or stressed - if the ship runs a-ground she's getting court-martialled!

You don't have to be the boss.

In the IT industry you can do a heap of cool roles (e.g. a developer, tester, IT Architect, Infrastructure engineer ....), get paid well, do interesting work and have no responsibility other than getting your own shit finished on time and to a spec given to you. You can work 9-5 if you want and still be part of something bigger than yourself.

So my advice to you is start at step zero. Either options is very a good decision, but just making that decision will help you put everything else in perspective.

<End of my un-called for wisdom ....>
