Been feeling super fatigued last couple of days.. last night I felt so lethargic by the time I finished work I could barely walk properly. Had pretty much no sleep then this morning my mum wanted to take me out for an early 25th bday celebration for lunch(since family won't see me on Friday because my shit shift) to which I was ridiculously grumpy. Was driving her there then turned around half way came back home what a dick..it was one of my favourite restaurants too not like I didn't want the food. I dunno, feels real strange. Really in a complete CBF mood right now don't feel like going outside play ball or browse internet, playstation whatever might just take the day off work too - not going gym cbf doing that right now. I should be doing some meal prep right now but cbf that either. /lazyrant

f*ck life lol

fk that sounded so lame i think im reading too many of gyzzbrahs posts. manned the fk up and sorted my meals, went for a bit of a sprint and shot some hoops before work lol just feeling so damn fatigued still. got routine bloods coming up i'll have my iron levels checked since it seems to run low around this time every year.

Just catching up with this topic now.

  • Be able to atleast touch the standard height (10ft) rim by end of this year. That means a 39" leap, current leap being 18" so need to gain 21" of air!

Man, that's going to be a huge increase! What's involved in making that sort of progress? Is it strength? Technique? Stilts?

If it's a seasonal thing, it could be SADS - particularly if you're working shift and not seeing much daylight. This topic might be helpful.

Dammit might be something to do with this. I was out in the sun fair bit today overall felt pretty dam good. I don't work fully night shift though it's 4pm to midnight and wake up normally 9am-10am now for it so can get a decent amount of daylight in before going off to work (probably more than I would on 9-5). Just not sure if my bodyclock is adjusting proeprly to it because seem to be getting worse and worse quality of sleep / tired feeling when I wake up :/

About the jump goal, not sure if it's even realistic that would be a pretty elite level jump for a guy my height to dunk. Mixture of equal parts technique and strength - lots of fast twitch muscle fibres required for that kind of explosive power.

f*ck lunch mate... Go to whorehouse bro, 2 hour full service... Just chuck on credit card. Just Needa Sort life out brah.

lol read this as 'warehouse' and was thinking wtf for ages

Had a pretty good workout today did deadlifts 3x3 125kg and felt like got plenty more in the tank. Will be training with 2x bodyweight soon enough, wonder how soon until I can reach 3x bw (maybe i'll be 70kg by then so 210kg deadlift?). Got my 25th on Friday sadly will be working but won't be going gym will just rest/eat up in preparation for a crazy weekend. Will post log of workout later.

Day 154 (Thursday 18th September 2014)

Deadlifting currently pretty much anything over 110kg for more than 1 rep need to use alternate grip. I can do it fine with right hand normal grip left hand supinated but if I try reverse the order between sets don't seem to have the same level of strength think I better address that now before later, though seeing as I don't have any powerlifting goals and I got given some straps for bday I might make some use of those in next dead workout to see how it affects my lifts. Will try not to get dependant on 'em though as want to get strong all around.

Push press still having issues with form but towards the end of the last sets think I sort of 'clicked'. Still lacking the flexibility for front rack position so only manage to get a couple fingers on bar with elbows up which makes the transition a bit harder when pushing the bar from delts to overhead.

Week 2, Session 2

Duration : 1h16mins

Workout

  • 2min bike
  • Deadlift : 5x20kg, 5x60kg, 3x90kg, 3x105kg, 3x3x120kg
  • Push Press : 3x40kg, 2x3x30kg, lots x25kg
  • Pullups : 3x5 wide grip
  • Band pull aparts : 3x8 superset biceps & triceps
  • Abs hanging raises
  • Stretch

Bro alternating grip on deadlift is like throwing a rock or closing one eye when shoot a pistol. It's just natural to know which way to do it. Don't change the grips or try get good at the other way.. That's a complete waste of time.

Have one alternate grip that feels right, you should just walk up to bar and grab it that way without even thinking bout it. And then have your double over hand with and without straps.

Thanks man for confirming, I'll stick with my natural/comfortable alternate grip meanwhile trying to strengthen double overhand.

do you not use mixed grip with straps? aside from a couple times fucking around with double over-hand ive always used mixed both when using straps and without.

Day 156 (Wednesday 24th September 2014)

Legs still feeling pretty nicely pumped, also starting to get some real nice forearms pump feel from the deadlifts. Forgot to bring straps but done just fine with alternate grip, 125kg 3x3 came out easy as, feeling like can definatly maintain this level of progress for a few more weeks, will be back to 140 deads in no time! Also mucked aorund a bit with hang cleans but think I might give them a bit of a rest for a while as don't have flexibility to catch bar properly in front rack position, really hurting my wrists. Was kind of annoying this skinny old fag kept bothering me when I was doing them kept going on about "youll hurt your coccyx mate stop that, stop that right now dont ever do it again , that exercise is dangerous"..*crazy*

Bout to head in for some squats and stuff, just waiting for the food to settle down. I haven't been logging the stuff I do in 'off' days but it's basically random jumps looking like a tard, shooting/dribbling practice 30-60mins a day. Yesterday I touched the net a couple times which was pretty cool, gives me hope I may one day reach that ominous rim and slam it!

Who u playing for brO? Bulls or lakers?

Lakers bro Kobe all the way!

Went in to YMCA Massey today to have a look around, seems like a pretty basic gym. Wasn't too busy considering it's a Monday - thought it was OK at first glance and just signed up on their plan. I like that atmosphere at Wolfs but lately all I've been doing is the basic power movements, not really using any of those extra machines which enticed me to join so time for a change I guess.

I was kind of disappointed after signing contract and stuff then when i went for a training session.. found the big downside is that they have jack all weight plates there so if someones doing deadlifts and someones doing bench you'd have to wait for them to finish because you could do anything useful lol... all good if it stays as quiet as it was when I went then I'll be fine for the year, school holidays and was only 2 kids doing curls and some people doing cardio at midday when I went. Heaps of dumbbells and some stackable jump boxes + rings and of course basketball courts which I'll probably be using for sprint training + shooting on rainy days, maybe find someone to practice 1v1 with haha. Feeling so attached to Wolfs, gonna be sad to submit my cancellation there will save $200 vs my current membership and get access to courts so all good I guess. Also helps that it's only 4 min drive (literally :D) from home so I'll save like 40mins driving time each day. /coolstorynoonecaresabout, i feel sorry for you if you read my log and read all that.

Day 158 (Monday 29th September 2014)

Quick simple session today, getting used to the new gym... had to get to work early today so not much time to snoop around.

Week 4, Session 1

Duration : 45mins

Workout

  • Box squat : 2x5x20kg, 3x35kg, 3x50kg, 2x65kg, 3x3x80kg
  • Bench : 2x5x20kg, 5x30kg, 3x40kg, 2x50kg, 2x3x55kg, 3x57.5kg
  • Face pulls / pullups supersets
  • Shrugs/Arms/Core supersets
  • Stretch

Nice squat br0, going up pretty fast. Any reason for the box though, like an injury or something?

Thanks man slowly getting up there with the progressive overload strategy. Didn't use a box this time, basically I started using it because severe hip flexor pains when going down past parallel, the box I set to help me get just below parallel so if it was PL, the depth would still be legal. It also helps to train for explosive power when you pause (not rest) at the bottom and try push up real fast which is what I need for increasing my vertical leap. Hip flexor pain slowly going away !

Getting more comfortable with my squat form these days I think I'll try record a form check video if I can get any improvement tips, probably do same with deads soon.

Day 159 (Wednesday 1st October 2014)

Fkd up a little bit forgot to bring my straps again and also wore the wrong shoes (Nike running shoes with lunarlon which are awesome for running, too squishy for deads lol). Anyway won't blame that, failed the lift either way next week will use 130kg as 3x3 work set again but if it feels way too easy after first set then will run with 135kg as don't seem to be having problems increasing my working weights with deads so far.

Week 4, Session 2

Duration : 55mins

Workout

  • Deadlift : 2x5x60kg, 3x75kg, 2x105kg, 3x130kg, 2x130kg (failed grip), 3x120kg
  • DB Flat bench superset pullups : 2x8x12.5kg, 3x8x40kg
  • Pullups : 3x8
  • Face pulls
  • Jumping alternate leg lunges / ab supersets
  • Stretch
