Acne on cycle

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm sure this has been done before, but only threads I found leaded to post cycle antiboics..

I am starting to get quite bad chest ance, also the odd spot on shoulders/face. Would be good to get this under control asap. Never had a prob while I was taking adex (0.5mg e3d) But stopped a few weeks ago when I lowered test dose (350mg week) . I'm guessing this might have something to do with it? So planning on getting back on adex, but what other products do you use to keep this under control?

Thanks in advance

Probably not a great idea if you're taking orals as it can be hard on the liver. But your doctor should be monitoring liver enzymes while on accutane and if they're ok I don't think theres an issue. Realistically you should only need 10mg/day of the stuff for a few weeks if it's not too bad.

i had bad cystic acne before i ever used steroids

if its that bad then def get oratane and dont stop until the doctor advises. it took about 7 months of 60mg isotretinoin daily for my skin to fully clear up

my skin looks better the more steroids i take so i cant explain that. my body must just prefer exogenous hormones to my naturally produced ones

Before you start to take it
Tell your doctor if you:
1. are depressed (have feelings of deep sadness and unworthiness or feel “down”), or
have felt this way in the past
2. have abnormal thoughts or behaviour or a mental illness, or have had them in the
past
3. have thoughts about harming yourself (suicidal thoughts or tendencies), or you
have had them in the past

None of the above apply to me, but i'm just assuming that the above is down to hormone issues? Could be completly wrong tho, im no expert!

Also this on the Accutane

What other drugs will affect Accutane?

Before taking Accutane, tell your doctor if you are also taking:

  • steroids (prednisone and others);

How I was led to understand it: Acne is caused by a bacteria. This bacteria feeds on sebum. Increased sebum production from hormone use gives the bacteria food to feed on so they multiply and expel fatty acids as a waste product that causes inflammation in the sebaceous glands

Try an antibiotic like Erythromycin or Doxycycline. They will reduce the acne population on the skin.

You can take it a step further by limiting sebum production by using B5. It's a treatment many have had success with. You take anywhere from 8-10 grams of B5 a day until acne starts vanishing, then lower the dosage down to 4-5 grams a day as a maintenance dose. Be sure to take B Complex Vitamin because B5 causes the levels of other B vitamins in the body to lower so you need to compensate for that with supplementation.

Accutane should be used as a last resort. It's a really nasty drug that's been banned in most countries because it leads to serious health problems. Exhaust every other option before using Accutane.

As far as the depression goes I don't believe that the isotane affects hormones directly but it's the manufacturers covering their ass. If you research it you'll find cases of mainly teens comitting suicide while using the drug and the parents blaming it.

Correlation does not imply causation, and most of those parents seem to be looking for an easy out.

I have used a shitload of the stuff over the years (was on 60mg a day for months) and IME this drug is harsh (physical sides) in HIGH doses. In low doses the sides are hardly noticeable. I haven't noticed any long term issues but who knows...

Fair point, I guess it comes down to a similar thing to test  to, many people blaming it for suicides because its easyier then looking at the underlying issues..but at the same time there is science linking the two..But I do agree with you and would give it a go at a low dose. I just reckon it pays to stick to the safe side when it comes too steriod use, hense the questions in the first place

Interesting point re: adex - Ive been on it since well pretty much the start and have barely had any acne anywhere apart from the odd yellow head here or there, like maybe 1 or 2 on my whole body max. Wish I wasn't such a poppingzit-addict. They only came after I went higher on the tren, had nothing during just test cycle.

Um why not run lower dose?  if your body is sensitive to the test one would think lowering the dose would work.  How much were you using to start with?  What type of test? (Not asking brands here - test E, Sust 250 etc etc) What was the protocol you used when taking more product?  (twice per week - one dose?) Whats your diet like?  Do you drink enough water?

Before I would recommend taking another product or and anti-biotic I would get some more information - context.

so you dropped dose from 500mg/week to 250mg/week?  and acne started/worsened following this? if so then what optimass said.

always seem to get worse sides dropping doses compared to increasing. which could be down to temporary (not yet stable) high estrogen:test ratio..just a guess, could be other hormones

Also tend to agree with Opti though if you're lowering it makes sense your body might just be adjusting for a week or 2? Probably clear up in no time! Also beach weathers still a good 6+ weeks away you've got plenty of time! :D!!!

Cheers for the replys. I think you guys are on to something. Come to think of it I took a 1 week break for a holiday and that was the first time I noticed them..So hopefully it will come right. In the mean time what creams etc (just over the counter) do people find good to deal with them?

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the exfoliation of skin. The formation of acne is caused by the sebaceous glands becoming overactive and producing excessive amounts of the oily substance known as sebum, which is made of fats and remnants of dead fat-producing cells. A high level of sebum production begins to clog the pores with sebum and dead cells. Thus a vigorous skin cleaning and exfoliation routine that removes excess dirt, oil and dead skin would be beneficial in preventing further acne from developing.

One way to do this is to take a hot bath and soak your whole body for at least 20 minutes. Then, using an exfoliating towel, rub off all the dead skin. You will probably need someone to scrub your back. Don't be surprised if a considerable amount of matter comes off, it's quite disgusting really.

High androgen levels can cause the sebaceous glands to increase in size which is reversible once the administration of androgenic substances is discontinued.
