Hello everyone.

I am so fat. 119 kgs , last time I checked. I feel no motivation to lose weight but I need to because it is killing my social life and mental health.

I am not sure why I am not motivated. I think I am a food addict. I was really motivated a couple of weeks ago but I ate McDonalds a few times and gained the 3 kgs I lost.

So I think it may help if I begin a journal.

These are my stats:

119kgs

173cm tall

I dont have a tape measure to measure my body.

I want to start my diet "tomorrow" but it's always "tomorrow". Tomorrow never comes :(

Anyway, please help. Any tips on how you got over your food addiction will help. I think I may also have unresolved emotional issues. I am thinking of seeing a therapist.

Thanks

Regards,

hey mate

im 176cm so similar and got as fat as 121kg before i joined here, so you're in the right place to learn :D

got as light as 77kg in around a year and a half

exercise and eating healthy does heaps for mental health too, sleep better, good for confidence etc.

also dont think of it as diet, think of it as this is how you eat now, its not a temporary thing.

check out content.php?id=162 for some basics.

edit also for food addiction lol just think about how you look and feel for long enough and you will want to eat good, harsh but true. also black coffee kills my appetite hardout so i have 2-3 a day, worth a try for you.

Awesome advice.

@OP - You may not necessarily be a food addict. It's just that food like McDonalds, KFC, Pizza, etc is consistent. You know it's going to taste the same, and taste damn good every time.

You just need to form new eating habits. Start cooking new things and learn to take pride in your creations.

Create some goals and use this journal to track your eating habits and fitness progress.

I agree that it's always the same, but I'm not sure I agree that it tastes damn good! :D

iCan, perhaps you can stop being a food addict by becoming a food snob. Next time you buy fast food, have a really good look at it before you start eating. Look at the fat oozing out of it when it's squeezed. Look at how it's all grey or brown or processed shit. It's probably soggy. No fresh, crunchy colours. When you do start eating, notice how sweet it tastes, because of the sugar they add to keep you coming back. I'm pretty sure it won't taste as good this time round.

also dont think of it as diet, think of it as this is how you eat now, its not a temporary thing.

And also, think of this as a good thing. It's not that you're restricted from eating fast food. It's that you're allowed (and actually PREFER) fresher, tastier food.

Then when you're eating the right food, the only issue becomes portion control.

the tricks I find with diets is getting through the first day, then after that the second day then the third and so on, but honestly if you can get through that first day, thats all it takes, you do that 1 day and you wake up the next day, thinking to yourself, shit I done it and I dont want to ruin that good day so you keep on doing it.

then it becomes a weekly thing, you get that first week out of the way and you think to yourself, i dont want that week to go to waste so you keep on doing it, and after that first week, if you do it right, you should lose 2-3kgs, even more so that becomes more motivation.
