I reckon its worth bulking over a long period of time 8-12 months and doing a "mini cut" every 3-4 months just to control bodyfat if you go over the top.

I'm doing a 18 month bulk but controlling calories so I gain slowly, so hopefully won't have to do mini cuts and don't want to do any metabolic damage.

That sounds like a better plan! im still learning with all of this so advice like this helps. Im counting my calories at the moment using my fitness pal app, bloody awesome! at the moment im downing 4500+ cals a day some days 5000, probably a bit on the higher side but i think my body is slowly adjusting. I plan to compete in a novice competition sometime this year maybe?, im just waiting to meet up with a BBing coach a friend of mine reccomends, from there that will most probably determine how long i continue to bulk.

If you do decide to compete you should do well. Especially if you bring your back up, which it looks like you have already started to do so.

Cheers JB, this time round im put a big emphasis on my back trying to increase both width and thickness, better picture of my back from behind, same time difference as the pic above. Slowly but surely il grow this motherfugga :pfft:
