Mixing grapefruit with drugs

Recommended Posts

Yeah grapefruit helps with the oral bio availability with da roids.

There was a episode on superhuman radio, with the Primordial performance guys, they claimed you could take test enanthate orally and still achieve up to 70% bio availability with loading with grapefruit juice and taking your roids with a fatty meal.

Was interesting.

I think primordial performance use some sort of grapefruit extract with their pro hormones too

Its not a bad idea to increase the effectiveness of the substance, with the exception of maybe viagra

I seen this on breakfast this morning.

It has been known for a while, I guess the public has been informed until this date though.

I use to take grapefruit juice with the old 1M.R. I thought it worked quite well

The enzyme in the grapefruit is reasonable for it, they didn't seem to go into the details on the news this morning though. Some co-enzyme if I remember correctly..

it inhibits an enzyme that metabolises ingested drugs, resulting in the drugs entering the bloodstream at full force

Grapefruit juice is an inhibitor of the CYP3A4 enzyme, and testosterone is a substrate, IE: a substrate of an enzyme means it is partially or wholey responsible for metabolising these substances and hence making them 'work'?

Therefore grapefruit juice being an inhibitor slows down metabolisation, which I think means the testosterone is in your system for longer....

This is what I've got:

Grapefruit juice can act as a potentiator for the following prescription drugs sometimes used recreationally:

• codeine

• methadone

• oxycodone (OxyContin, Percoset)

• dextromethorphan (DXM)

• alprazolam (Xanax)

• clonazepam (Klonopin, Rivotril)

• midazolam (Versed)

• triazolam (Halcion)

Caution should be excercised if consuming grapefruit juice before or while taking these drugs. Though most people report mild potentiation (if any), if one is taking extremely large doses, any potentiation could be dangerous.

Method of Action

Grapefruit juice can inhibit the gastrointestinal activity of two enzymes known as cytochrome P450 CYP3A4 and CYP1A2, though the effect on CYP1A2 is minimal. This causes elevated plasma levels of some drugs, because they are able to pass into the bloodstream without being broken down by enzymes in the intestine. Due to variations in enzyme levels in the intestine from person to person, effects will vary.

The specific chemical responsible for this action is not known. There are a few suspects including various flavonoids and other phytochemicals called furanocoumarins. Concentrations of these compounds vary from one batch of juice to another. Higher concentrations are found in white juice compared to red, and the highest concentrations are found in the pulp of the fresh fruit. One glass (200 ml) of fresh juice was found to be equal in effect to two or three glasses of double strength reconstituted frozen juice. This suggests that store bought juice, which is often from concentrate, must be consumed in large quantites to for effects to be noticed. Consuption of 6-8 glasses of fresh juice may lead to inhibition of CYP3A4 in the liver. The potentiating effect of grapefuit juice may last 5 or mores hours after ingestion.

INB4Robitussin&CitrusCocktails! :pfft:

Knowing this can you forgive Kai? He was just trying an alternative ingestion method to inhibit CYP3A4  :pfft:

Just to throw a spanner in the works, apparently grapefruit increases E2 thereby lowering natural Test levels. apparently

brb adding letro to my grapefruit juice

Seriously though, don't worry about it. Inhibition of CYP3A4 can inhibit metabolism of some estrogens but it's not going to throw your HPTA out of wack or anything :)

The studies were nostly done in post menopausal women as they thought this may increase risk of breast cancer but larger better studies have shown that it doesn't.

It can interfere with contraceptive pills though so be warned :pfft:

Has mdma made a come back in nz yet or unaware phaggots still dropping research chems?. wow.

Not to mainstream clubbers, their only options available seem to be more and more obscure RC's like 4-MEC, bk-MDEA, Alpha-PVP, N-Ethlamphetamine, MDPV.. You don't even find 4-MMC anymore..

Occasionally 6-APB turns up, and recently some Green lightning bolts tested positive with Marquis Reagent for MDMA, which is the first time to my knowledge any pills have tested positive for MDMA in the last 4 years...

There is MDMA about as crystals, 6-APB seems quite popular too, plus more obscure mixes of 4-FA/MMA, 25G NBOMe, bk-MDMA, MDEA, MDAI, MDA.... Amphetamine Sulphate has shown up recently, Coke, GBL, LSD & DMT is always about...

It seems to be individuals or small groups that keep it to themselves, take it responsibly pre & post loading with a concoction of vitamins, anti-oxidants, and tryptophan etc, and don't share with the mainstream idiots out there... Hence you don't often hear about it, or any bad press associated with it..

Which is how I suppose it should be, once idiots get hold of anything they abuse it and spoil it for everyone....

Intredasting...

I didn't use to mind me a bit of MDA now and then. I used to be good mates with amphetamine sulphate too \:D/

I always preferred MDA to MDMA for its greater agonism at 5-HT2a receptors, hence better visuals & tracers...

Phet bomb & GHB used to make a great weekend front load....
