This question has probably been floating around before but i'm interested in becoming a personal trainer and have a few questions to anyone else that has experience in this field.

First question would be, Would it be nececery for me to go to Uni like Auckland Uni and study sports science. I have the credits I need to get in but was wondering if I should just go study with the New Zealand Institute of Sport. Also another questions is, What kind of pay out am I looking at. I know this will vary but on average how much money am I looking at

Hi eatclen,

I worked as a personal trainer for a few years. I studied at NZIS and did the six month course. Tbh very little of the skills you need for the job are taught. Most PT's are self trained for the majority of their knowledge.

I really enjoyed the job (best job ive ever had :D ) the money is variable. You set your own rate, so it really depends on how good you are at marketing yourself.

but all in all I definately recommend just doing a short course and getting into it :D , enjoy
