NABBA Universe - Steve Orton NZ Rep

Thats one of the reasons I would love to see a kiwi judge on the panel at these shows. Not sure how this can be logistically or politically done, perhaps some lobbying by the NABBA WFF Exec to NABBA?

There are probably a 1/2 dozen competitors from NABBA WFF that would have the experience to make a good fist of this.

Just to give our guys and girls the chance to be compared against the top guys so they get judged and can go back and look at the pics and how they compare against the top place getters.

Couple already on the Judging Panel that could do this. Its just getting in with the UK NABBA. They tend to favour the more blocky European look & know all the local athletes. We are unknowns from here & have to get more exposure but its a long way to go & costly to do this.

Watched the youtube clip of the guy from Scotland who won the overall.

Beautiful symmetry coupled with good size, the complete package .

To Steve, well time is on your side mate, up against seasoned guys who have been doing it for years.

As far as getting judged goes, well it can be tough coming all the way from New Zealand and sometimes you definitely feel you can get overlooked.

My motto is may as well get back over there and stand in front of them again and again until they bloody notice you.

Its disappointing to think you need judges on your side, shouldn't any competition be judged purely on merit not who you know? Just because Steve is young and a relative unknown outside New Zealand doesn't mean he shouldn't be judged equally and fairly...

Unfortunately any New Zealand athlete is at a tremendous disadvantage to European or American competitors regards the price and availability of things like gym memberships, food and compounds....

I've just been back to the UK and everything is so f***ing cheap and available, food is half the price, steroids, HGH, insulin, cutting compounds etc can be obtained at a quarter to half of NZ prices....

If Steve is serious about competing on the world stage he might have to think about buying a raincoat and moving to the UK...

Daz69,

I agree about our guys being at a huge disadvantage with the costs/travel involved etc,

However I do think, like most other international sports organizations, Representation of at least one judge is preferable not so they can be on a competitors side in respect to judging them higher than they deserve, but just so they dont get unfairly over looked. So they get a call out and comparison if they deserve it. If they have a large enough panel they can potentially take off the highest and lowest scores to make sure no one gets shafted.

The Kiwi international competitor just need the chance to be compared to the top guys and I'd hate to think that they could put in all that time and money not to get fair comparisons just because the judges panel is full of people from the two or three countries that place well,

Still, that said I have yet to see pics from this class, so it will interesting to see these guys in class 2.

Watched the video of the winner. Great proportions without being overdone and excellent conditioning.

But personally I would place Steve ahead of Andy Polehill based on Orton's freak factor, Hams and Glutes. Yeah I'm probably biased but I can't see how andy could beat 6 guys that were supposedly better than Steve.

Shafted. Big time.

Polehill came out of Class 3 SG. He is a class act alright with a lot of experience. But just looking at the Czech that came out of Class 2 & the other two competitors, I would rate Steve up there. However, we were not on the spot & the judges saw it as it was I guess. One though, would have thought the our boy would have been up close to the Czech but its all subjective at the end of the day. Waiting to see the lineup if it comes through. Steve d.ue back in NZ on Fri

Some ripped freaks here

What a great lineup, good pics. love to see side by side comparisons though

The guy who won very much deserved it but I think Steve would have definitely give any of the other top 6 a run for their money.

I hope Steve goes back next year and they pay him a bit more attention.

Regretably NABBA International only publish the top placings & you dont get to see the minor placings or comparisons. Steve may have some links to other pics. Will post up if he does.
