Wednesday - Squats

Squats 60x1x10, 100x1x15, 140x1x5, 160x1x3, 180x1x8 (PB), 140x1x10

SLDL 70x1x16, 110x3x12

Squats felt good on the working set. Didn't really warmup much at all as it was peak time at the gym and the rack was free so jumped straight in. 

Hips felt tight from sitting at the desk all day, but loosen up after a few paused squats. Trained just on feeling today planned to only do four at 180 but was feeling good so banged out another four.

OK its been a while since I posted here, been busy with tieing up a few things at work before heading off. 

Update:

re-injured my lower back on the left hand side deadliftng for the thrid time in the last 18 months. Took Monday off work to do hot/cold theapy a long with some hamstring and glute stretching to help speed up recovery as much as possible. 

Feeling a lot pretty now. Could hardly pain free on the Monday morning. Begining to re-think wheather I should do deadlifts anymore, not getting any progress at all and if anything it has gone backwards significantly. Not keen to just keep re-injuring it to make no progress at all. I haven't been pushing it and ease into it after each injury. Just seems it strains/pulls a lot easier now since the first time it happened. 

Going to lay off training all together for a fortnight then start lifting light and slowly progressing with the squat and bench. It seems my entire left hand side is beaten up as also having issues with my elbow, shoulder, hip and wrist on the same size. 

If anyone finds out the miracle drug Azide is looking for my injury recovery flick the details this way!

Man, those recurring lower back injuries suck. I can totally sympathise with you there. I've just started doing the Cirque du Soleil back/core workout (that was the first video I posted), and I'm really impressed. It's a lot more challenging than most pre-hab work, and that's keeping me interested. It's too early to say whether it's helping my lower back strength, but the Cirque guys swear by it. When you get back into training, give this a go - it can only help, and it's fun.

Haven't left for the states yet go on the 10 th of October. Just got put on another project and got to hand over before I leave more loose ends than I thought haha. Will try get a training in or two when I'm over there.

Starting to think about what's my body going to be like in ten years time. Hopefully not all banged up, people have always said that and I've just brushed it off. But starting to think otherwise haha.

The last week training has been more of a deload to allow the back to recover. Training has been rather simplistic. 

Friday 3nd Oct 

Bench 100x6x10 (paused)

OHP 70x5x5 

Sunday 5th Oct

Squats 180x5x5 

SLDL 120x4x8

Leg Extensions 5 sets 

Back was feeling good on the friday so decided to go a little heavier on the squats. Changed my flights to the states leaving on the 12th of October and returning on the 24th. Decided to do a Contikki tour on Vegas/Bass Lake/San Fran/LA due to relationship issues and timing.... Wasn't going to cancel the trip for those reasons though!!!

Stretch. 

Took it easy cause heading over to rota-vegas to test out the knee wraps tomorrow with leeroid aka joocybrah. Will have to teach him a thing or two about squatting. 

inb4 snapcity 

Hips felt tight as during the paused squats extremely painful at the bottom but hurt equally on both sides so nothing so stretching/rolling can't sort out. Haven't squatted in knee wraps for months so will be interesting.

Friday - Squats & Bench

Squats 60x1x10, 100x1x5, 140x1x3, 180x1x3, 200x1x1, 200x1x2 (wraps), 140x1x18

Bench 60x1x10, 100x1x5 (Paused), 120x1x3 (paused), 140x1x1 (TNG), 120x1x6 (TNG), 100x1x12, 60x1x32

Leg extensions 20,20,20,20,20

Trained with Leeroid out at rota-vegas. Wasn't to happy with the squats wraps are still awkward as to use don't feel like im getting anything out of them. 

Was happy with bench though have had elbow issues for the past few weeks so haven't been able to touch those weights for a while.

So landed back in New Zealand on the 24th of October in the after noon from LA. A little summary of the trip for those interested.

Flight over the Vegas felt long as was only 14 hours but being in a tiny seat in a plane next to a crying baby and not being able to sleep isn't ideal! Once I landed in Vegas got a limo to the hotel  *dirol* and check in. Was staying at the Harrahs hotel the rooms were wicked and cheap was 100USD for a twin share which had two king beds and bathroom etc. Every hotel in Vegas is also a casino so once I check in tried my luck at the slots, lost $20 pretty quick was boring as thb don't know how people get hooked on that! Decide to try black jack with $10 buy in a few minutes later came out wining 120USD. 

That night went to some exclusive night club called Goast Bar which was on top of a 65 story building the views were ridiulious. Not much talent was in the club though so decided to hit the tables again with some of the lads having a taste of luck earlier in the night. Played for 2 hours and ended up winning 400USD of 20USD. Just kept tipping the waiter one dollar and kept getting free drinks. Then got the limo back to the hotel. 

Second day when to Cirque du soleil which was buzzy as after a few brews. Then hit the night club sence again. 

After Vegas headed to Yosemite Park for a tramp up the mountain was painful as considering how hungover I was. The scenery was worth it though! Spent the next night at Bass Lake which is pretty much in the middle of no where so just had some brews on the lake and lit a massive fire. 

San Fran was the next stop stayed for 3 nights, the hotel was wicked! The first thing I noticed about San Fran was the amount of homeless people and drug addicts. You would walk down the street and see people shooting up heroin. Did a boat cruise in the bay which was mint as there was a bit of talent *ok* then did all the other tourist stuff like hiring a bike and cycling the golden gate bridge. The night clubs were pretty good too. Definitely a city worth visitng so much history. 

Then heading to LA stayed at Saint Monica which was epic the beaches are so nice and the weather was perfect a calm 35C. Hit the beaches and got my bake on, still pasty as fark them welsh genes! Also visited Malibu and watched a NFL games the atmosphere was amazing but the game itself is boring as! 

Finished the trip up in LA and visited Hollywood and Beverly hills a crazy amount of plastic surgery there! Wanted to try go to Charlie Shreen places and bang 5 gram rocks with him up couldn't get past the gate. 

Brought some sleeping pills at the store for the flight home so was out like a light. Smashed them back a little early though and was falling asleep while boarding the plane. Didn't think I was going to get on! 

Alcohol is ridiculous cheap in the states to top shelf liqour was going for 10-30USD for a litre was crazy!

Getting back into to training. Its a bit challenging but after watching GPC nationals pretty movitated to get back into it! 

Monday

Bench 60x1x10, 100x1x5, 120x4x3 (paused)

Incline Dumbell 36x5x12

Incline dumbell flies 18x4x16 

OHP 50x1x12, 70x4x8 

Face pulls 5 sets of 16

Was sweating like crazy during this workout fitness has definitely gone! at least what fitness I had, I guess drinking for a fortnight straight has that effect *secret* 

Training legs tonight at the home gym, slowly working back to the odd numbers focusing on form.

Nice one Jimmybro, sounds like an awesome trip. So did you go with a group of mates, or a bunch of randoms on a kontiki tour?

Was a bunch of randoms lucky they were all good kents, had a wicked time will definitely do another contiki! 

Next contiki will probably be europe I've heard it gets pretty loose. Couldn't imagine things getting crazier than they were in Vegas though (none of which was mentioned above :-D) 

Tuesday

Squats 60x1x5, 100x1x5, 140x1x5, 160x6x5, 140x1x12 

SLDL 60x1x10, 100x5x14 

Workout was really basic and will be for the next week or so until I get my footing back. Feels good getting back into training and nigglying issues with hips, shoulders and elbow seem to have none away. 

Going to work towards a 150kg pause press and 230kg raw squat by the end of the year.

Bench 60x1x10, 80x1x10, 100x1x17, 120x1x5, 100x1x12

Incline dumbell 32x1x16, 38x4x12

OHP 40x1x16, 60x5x12

Face pulls 5x16

Was training with a mate was a bit of a muck around session so decided to see how many reps I could get at 100kg managed 17 might have had another rep or two but want to save some energy for the later sets. Previous best 19 reps so not a PB. 

Sunday

Squats 60x1x5, 100x1x5, 140x1x5, 160x1x1, 170x5x3, 140x1x24

Leg extensions 3x16

Called it a workout after squats pretty much was feeling a bit ill after the 140kg set. The 170kg paused sets went well will progress to 180kg sets next week. Trying to nail 140kg for 30 reps! Thats the goal this year. Should be able to fresh have only attempted after working sets to get some volume training in for dat der hypertropy.

Wicked reps on the bench and squats man. 30 would be a mean target to hit at 140.

Cheers Skeletor, should be achievable considering I always attempt it after working sets will video when I attempt it. 

As for bench I was pretty suprised as I had taken two weeks off to just drink, party and eat f*ck all. Back on track now though.

Wednesday

Squats felt good. Was exhausted after last set. At the end of workout moved a bench with my foot by dragging it along to floor in the process straining my knee. Hopefully its nothing major.
