The benefits of starting powerlifting.

Hey all.

As I've mentioned before I spent years convalescing from injuries I sustained in a freak accident. This is what I looked like in late December last year.

Age: 39

Bodyweight: 93kg

I started powerlifting in January this year and this is what I looked like after about 3-4 months.

Bodyweight: 96kg

After another 4 months of training this is what I currently look like. Woo. Yay. Stuff.

Bodyweight: 102.7kg

I know it's nothing spectacular but after so many years of being frustrated with my physique, I'm finally happy to be able to change it, albeit slowly. Things can only improve.

wow pretty nice progress! i see you what you were on about with the hairiness, any plans to shave for the next progress pic? :pfft:

I think I'd need stocks in a razor company to get all my body hair off. A friend suggested waxing but after watching my two oldest sons wax their chests to see who could handle it better (got to love sibling rivalry) that's not likely to happen. :P

do you really have to wax? sounds like a lot of pain unless you're getting ready for a show or something.

when i started trimming down the hair for the first time i kind of went over everything starting from the highest number then with a slightly smaller number on the electric trimmer every few days until the 2mm point where i finally stopped...got down to that point slowly so no one around would notice and call me out for being a body shaver :pfft: at 2mm size it looks very clean until you get real close up and best of all there is no pains to deal with as you would when clean shaving or waxing

Yep, I would probably go that way. I'm never going to be a competitive bodybuilder although getting my wife to rub me down with oil would have it's merits...ahem. Nevermind.

I've suggested shaving my body hair once or twice to my wife and she just gives me this really strange look. She's probably worried about all the small woodland creatures I'd make homeless and the damage to several ecosystems. :P

Looking leaner at 102, Pabs! Awesome work mate. That beard is badass too btw, kudos!

Thanks, Drizzt. My wife reckons I've lost quite a bit around my mid section and less fat around the chest. Always a good thing. Just need to work on those stubborn love-handles. :P

My son is quite envious of my beard growing skills but he'll get there. Plenty of time for him to cultivate the ultimate manscape. :pfft:
