wasnt there a big shitstorm about spin class being catabolic not so long ago...

#LOL

dunno about the catabolic arguments but besides sitting on a bike, what is the relationship in training style between spin class trainers and sprint racers?

well a spin bike or a windtrainer can simulate any kind of cycle training.... its all just based on resistance

true for long distance racers but I was under the impression that Sprint trainers do a lot of barbell work like squats, lunges, some kind of deadlifts etc.

Correct, Simon Van Velthoven was telling me about all the weight training they do. They lift heavy weights and lift often. He is a NZ sprint/track cyclist - its far different to the long distance road racing stuff. Its not just sitting on a bike for long periods of time

This maybe why Robert Foerstemann is quadzilla?

that's more like it. i'll be damned if he built those on a bicycle.... tho i'll also be damned if he built those on heavy quarter squats, guess maybe he was just planning to show off for the camera on that one or it was end of a big workout.

Be nice, they're half squats at least :) Think of the ROM your legs go through on a bicycle, at no point are they in the position of a deep squat. No need for cyclists to squat atg, better to maximally load the ROM they're actually going to use.

Its the same guy, just the first picture is his "unmodified" legs. That viral pic is more than his leg being closer to the camera or better angle/lighting. Gives the impression that either his left leg is 10" larger than his right or most likely its just been morphed, look at the top of the thigh and width of waist like its been stretched out  .

After seeing that video, and the size of his legs in it, I believe the pics weren't doctored

My guess is that alot of you guys have no idea how sprint cyclists actually train?! - Im based in Invercargill and the NZ Team are in my gym most mornings as the velodrome is close by.

Lots of big compound lifts ie squats, deads, glute bridges, power cleans etc etc.

As the quads are so highly isolated in the sprint it should be little surprise then to what extent they may hypertrophy. You only have to think of other sports and the relative muscles they overdevelop to a greater to degree and its obvious what potential there is for this in sprint cycling - especially at the TOP level in the world....
