Yeah, that was pretty gross, but what I took from it was the guy has great mental fortitude

Massive props for pushing through that, most guys would've thrown in the towel when they first felt that coming up. Not only did he keep going through an increasing weightload, bucketloads of vomit coming up - breathing obviously would've been tough - he ignored the laughter and (what I assume would be) looks of disgust on the people in front of him, and just kept going.

lol macho bullshiet

That's not macho "bullshiet", that, IMHO, is the mindset of a champ

i see it more as bravado, do you think he would of continued lifting if he was alone? I think not

How do you know that? He may well do the same if he was alone, you can only speculate if you don't know the guy personally.

It looked like it was a competition of some sort - I'm not sure he would've been competing if he was alone. Ergo, he wouldn't have been in that position if he was alone (likely training), nor would he likely have had a need to push that hard.

If you're right and it was bravado - so what? I've seen plenty of show offs who would crumple at the thought of pushing themselves that hard. Got to give the guy his dues for pushing through that sort of barrier, whatever his reasoning.
