Hey Guys, Just thought I'd Introduce Myself Here

I spent a whole hour lastnight typing my intro on my phone then the page failed! lol and I lost it all, so here I am again this time on a computer.

I have come across this site a few times in the past and thought it's time to register. I am new to weight lifting (complete dummy..lol)

Names Caleb, Im 22 years old, 138kg (I was 148kg but lost 10kg over the past 2 months) 5"8

I have learnt a lot over the past couple months, I have been logging with MyfitnessPal and that has helped me understand calories a lot better. I have a protien shake for breakfast every morning but the rest of my meals need more focus.

Now with the weight lifting side I have no idea if what I am doing is right but I want to eventually learn everything I need to. I have weights and gym equipment all at home so I work out with what I have. (total trainer, weider pro 355 also has thing for leg extensions, ab king, dumbells & a few weights etc.)

I have very little knowledge on how to use them so I have been repeating my same routine for the past 2 months.

I have read somewhere not to work the same muscle group within 48hours so I only do weights every second day, Mon, Wed & Fri. Please correct me if this is still wrong.

My routine is: (excuse me if the names are not correct)

MONDAY - 27lbs, 3-4 sets, 10 Reps, Squats, Bench Press, Overhead Press, Standing Barcurl, and the one while standing i pull the bar toward my chest with my elbows up high. Then 30 Min Jog/Walk.

TUESDAY - 30 Min Jog/Walk

WEDNESDAY - (Repeat Monday)

THURSDAY - 30 Min Jog/Walk

FRIDAY - (Repeat Monday)

Saturday - Rest

Sunday - 30 Min Jog/Walk

Thats all I have been doing for 2 months. I looked around on here lastnight and found workoutBuilderPDF.php?workoutid=305

Workout #305: Powerbuilding for dummies and have printed off a few copies to try this workout plan. I start as soon as I have posted this :D

I have just finished seasonal orchard work and start back 30th July, so I want to do as much as I can over the next 2 months while I'm off. Also I am moving to Australia Jan2013 so I hope to be somewhat tonned by then, the earliest is by October 20th when I see all my family at my cousins wedding

I have tried to educate my self in a day google searching and that failed lol so I am taking a more realistic approach and learning bit by bit, a day at a time.

I am determined and I know i will get buff, but is it possible I will have something to show for it by October the earliest?

I want to do this right and the best way, also fastest if possible. My diet side is ok, I love Hawkes Bay water, have only had about 1Ltr of fizzy in the past 2 months, and no alcohol in 3 months.

I am pretty solid most of my body is close to the bone at 138kg have a few cuts, nothing big though, my stomache is the chubbiest part of me, I could do with losing more weight aswell but I think my size/strength for my size i ok for how big I want to be.

All advice would be good, it'd be nice to keep in touch with people to make sure I am doing everything right.

Thanks for reading.

welcome bro

what are your goals? something related to strongman stuff, oly lifting etc i'm guessing?

natural strongman
I am new to weight lifting (complete dummy..lol)

checkout the newbie resources here

includes information on both diet and workout programs

but the rest of my meals need more focus.

to reiterate, lots of great info in the newbies guide. also plenty of valuable info in the diet/nutrition forum

I want to eventually learn everything I need to.

i dunno if anyone ever learns "everything"

I have very little knowledge on how to use them so I have been repeating my same routine for the past 2 months.

check out youtube, best place to go if you want to see how to do stuff properly (save joining a good gym and having experienced guys show you). as for repeating the routine, you need variation in there as your body adapts and stops responding as well as it did in the first month or two. again, check out the newbie section

everybody is different, some guys recover within 2-4 days, others take a week or more. generally, newbies recover really fast, more experienced lifters less quickly. recovery depends on a lot of things, supplementation, which muscle groups we're talking about (big ones can generally be worked once a week, smaller ones such as biceps/triceps/calves twice), diet, sleep, etc. point being you should work the muscle groups as much as you can while giving them enough time to recover, don't take "48 hours" as the golden rule. working them too often can lead to overtraining

cool, riccardo knows his shit

somewhat toned by then

firstly, slow and steady wins the race. nothing good comes out of rushing it in this game. really important that goals are realistic, with some long term goal in mind.

second, i'm a little confused. it sounds like your goal is to look strong and relatively lean, am i right? if you've never lifted before, how are you solid at 138kg? no offense or anything. i'm an inch taller and 36kg lighter, and lean, and i've been lifting for years. pics or explanation?

Hi thanks for the reply.

I am wanting to get really buff shoulders, biceps, chest etc. the only way i know to explain is like Vin Diesel, enough to see my chest and shoulder muscles through my shirt, I am not to worried about abs but if its recommended to work that aswell I will.

i dunno if anyone ever learns "everything"

Just everything I need to know to get me looking how I want

taboo word around here

:) thanks

thanks, and yes I know it will take time, I just wanted to know if 5 months could be enough to have something to show.

no offense taken :) I have always been big, the past 2 years have been the worst as I have become chubby. I cant explain it, I'm not ripped but I dont have fat like most people my weight. Everythings bulgy and my bones are right there, I have been like this my whole life. How do I upload pictures to here?

Thanks for all the other info I will check out youtube when I can as I live Rural and its only dial up out here.
