Just kidding bro if you have an injury you need to talk to your physio, yes you will still be able to do deadlifts but you need to find out why you injured yourself in the first place (twice) ? You obviously have a technique issue or an imbalance/weakness somewhere that needs to be addressed first

Good luck with your recovery

Hi There,

I injured my lower back twice and both times i was doing DEADLIFT.

I am going to start gym again after egiht months?

Should i still do deadlift?

I will be really thankful if you could please advice me?

Thanks in advance.

Don't lift as heavy, ensure correct technique, and don't curl your bum in

Or... You could build up strength elsewhere in your body BEFORE commencing DL.

Build up confidence again.

It took a year of physio to get me squatting again, and I was not confident. Poor form ruined me in squats, and I did DL afterwards and made it worse.

After a rest and by doing lesser alternatives, now I am stronger than ever.

You could also start with rack pulls so you aren't coming from the floor.

dead-lifts, like squats, are not really necessary and can be a dangerous exercise even if performed correctly.

just do curls crunches and bench press. i think most people on here would agree that these exercises, otherwise known as 'the big 3' are the 3 most essential exercises

Don't force yourself to do an exercise that injures you or that you just hate doing.

Agreed

Rack pulls and progressing load with barbell rows should get the entire back stronger while you can practise your technique or get strong enough to do some dead lifts.

Repped brah.

Overdeveloped back and leg muscles are the root of all back problems and most injuries. Stick to machines and dumbbells bro. Stay safe!
