Hey guys,

Dee here from Wellington. I'm 36yrs old and have been training on and off for around 10 years. I'm 5'11 and weigh 80kgs. Love the sport of bodybuilding and have learnt a great deal in my years in and out of the gym.

I have been following leangains and IF for almost a year now and love it.

Currently I am bulking and training for strength.

Oh..ive never tried to be a massive guy as I have always preferred symmetrical physiques. I'm fairly old school and grew up admiring bb'ers like Shawn Ray, Bob Paris, Dennis Newman.

I have been as low as 73kgs and pretty shredded in the past but very slim so this year I am looking to achieve the same conditioning BUT be at a bigger body weight.

I never get comments like these. "Dont wanna get massive but admire Shawn Ray, Frank Zane etc"

Arent they still pro bbers and while not big standing next to the likes of Dorian Yates and Lou Ferrigno, theyre still pretty massive and definitely beyond natty proportions?

Thanks guys, good to be here. Yep that be me in my avatar. Taken last year. I was around 75kgs there. My waist is around 31 so yeah I gotta small one. I've always been fairly lean from all the sports I played.

I have never trained for strength in all my years so this year will be the first time. I am starting a power lifting program very soon so I hoping I can get alot of progress from it and post up some good lifts on these forums.

tomleegolf - mirin lift stats to age ratio - strong. Also strong analysis of my comment bro. Not sure where you got the connection between me not wanting to be massive and admiring pro bodybuilders?...just because I like onions, doesn't mean I would eat a raw one like an apple. Yeah sure Shawn Ray would be massive compared to any natty guy but it was their shape, symmetry that I admired. They made bodybuilding beautiful (no homo) back then. Lee Labrada. Those are the guys I liked even if they weren't natural, they made the male physique pleasing to look at. Phil Heath is finally bringing some of that back. I met and shook Ronnie Colemans hand at the NZ bbing nationals back in 2000, wellington michael fowler centre. His hand looked like it could fit over my head. His viens in his arms were the size of my legs. If anyone in these forums has seen a pro bodybuilder up close you know they are farken huge but seeing Ronnie back then, scared the shit out of me. I been around bodybuilders but not one has compared to Ronnie and that was in 2000. 2003 was his scariest ever. So when I say massive, I don't use that term loosely brah.
