Hey bro,

I ended up conv stance as I tryed to replicate a squat as much as possible. Also regarding warm up and openers, I like to know I can do it on the day as a mental edge getting onto the platform. I dont think it tyres me out as you usually have about 5mins rest before your first lift.

Remember I hadn't actually deadlifted in over 2 months. Are you gonna have a few lifts this year?

So I've decided my training reigeme for the foreseable future.

I will continue to squat 6-7 times a week. More if I can but don't think time will allow it.

Also I'm going to run smolov jr for bench. I'll do this as much as possible, minimum of 4x a week. I'll add 5kg into the program when I run out of workouts.

Deadlifts will be done when I feel like it. But at the moment I will just pick a weight and see how many times I can do it. Probably once a week.

I know its not very specific but I'll see how it goes

Fair enough. As u gain more experience, u should become more confident and not worry about hitting ur opener.

Hoping to have a crack next Saturday bro! I'm hoping for 240 130 230 raw plus but my back is feeling real dodgy atm.

All good workout. I held back on the squats today to make sure I can hit a pb later on in the week. Bench was nice and fast today, Im really working on my set up which feels good

Bit late to the party, but awesome lifting at the comp bro! Interesting to hear the raised heel worked well for the deadlift, a lot of people seem to be against it but I noticed it worked well for me too :nod: Are you gonna stick with it?

Not sure at this stage Drizzt. It helped me as all I've been doing for the last two months is squatting, so having the shoe on has helped. Im not sure if I will stick with it at this stage. A little more experimenting is needed.

What's on the cards between now and December ?

Um at this stage I'm going to skip the NI champs and the Nationals as I have a baby due in July. I'm going to cross my fingers that I can still qualify using the classic cup in November?

Ummm - great news on the baby, for sure :)

Not such great news, possibly, and I hope I'm wrong, but I've a feeling the Classic Cup is now the Classic Championships - but it's in the last weekend of September.

I checked out the NZPF Calendar and it's 28th Sept in Christchurch.

And, if I remember what I've been told, to progress to the Oceanias as a raw lifter the qualifying total has to be at either NI/SI or the Raw Nats... I know I've been advised that the NZPF Nationals at Powerhouse the first weekend of August won't count for raw totals.

Yep, that's the one which qualifies for Oceanias, so I've been told. Funnily enough, I was looking at airfares to Christchurch myself...

But you said 'November' - and AFAIK that meeting which is usually in November, was brought forward to September.

My new knee sleves and wrist wraps arived over the weekend so I gave them a go. I felt a lot of confidence with them. Bench on Sunday was good, heaps of strength. I'll be hitting bench tonight some time. Just started a cycle of daa as well. we'll see how the strenght goes!

I felt really good during this workout, the weights were coming up well, although I was a little weaker than my last 'good' workout about a month ago. The DAA is starting to work as I feel eager to hit the weights and have an overall better state of mood.

Just got a new smart phone and downloaded coaches eye to record my lifts to look at technique. I'm keen to try it out later on.

Two bench sessions over the weekend,

8 sets 4 reps @ 110 yesterday

10 sets 3 reps @ 112.5 today (I tried to get the last three sets done in one but only managed 8. Still really good for me tho. That makes for a calculated pb of 140. That was the last of round 1 smolov, at least two more before september
