Double Patella tendon rupture

Has anyone experience of Patella quadriceps tendon rupture to both legs:

How long in rehab before movement, and load bearing?

Whether full strength can ever be achieved in time?

What dietary supplementations may improve healing?

Any drugs advised: HGH, IGF1..?

Matt Ashworth did this many years ago - had been off with an injury & return after only training for 3 weeks or so and attempted a 320kg squat!

Took a fair bit of bone with the tendons too.

Unsure what his actual recovery time was but he was certainly back lifting again within a year.

Apparently it heals better if bone is still attached, if the tendon detaches and has to be re-attached back to bone then its more difficult to get it to heal... Bone attaches better to bone than tendon to bone, which is what I've done...

I wondered whether there might be anything I could incorporate into my diet to better help tendon recovery and repair..

Not sure what micro/macro nutrients could assist

I've been told by my Surgeon not to use steroids or HGH.. I did think only Winstrol was harsh on joints and tendons not all steroids in general or just Testosterone on its own... There is a study that suggests Deca promotes collagen synthesis, and a medical journal I have read recommends IGF-1 to assist tendon repair... ????

For a start I'd be using a boatload of Joint Formula (Chondroitin, Glucosamine Sulphate, Collagen etc) to help your body build those connective tissues back. High protein, which I assume is the norm for you, probably assist as well, though if there is bone damage at all you won't want to impact on calcium levels (read somewhere about high protein decreasing calcium absorbtion or causing increased excretion of Calcium - cant remember details?? Research or check with surgeon?).

In terms of rehab I'm assuming you'll be doing lots of controlled very slow negatives, when the time is right, as this helps lay down new tendonous tissue. Physio (a good sports one) will advise you of all this.

Heal up.

Couple of tales from my US forum :

HGH to repair tears in tendons and muscle - afboard.com

It's a miracle drug. I used GH for 2 torn tendons and a bone fusion. All three injuries healed in a fraction of the normal healing time. The bone fusion blew the neurosugeon away. The 6 week xray showed a complete fusion and that takes 4-6 months normally. I also use my usual test/deca. But the GH did most the work.

Dont be fooled there are so many genetical things that we probably dont evern fully understand, that allows some to heal faster then others.....

that being said... i used gh when recovering from my horribly snapped humerus and the doctor shit his pants when he saw me 4 months later in the gym

oh yeah and that was 2 then 4 iu eod!

I can tell you from 2 experiences, my good bro and myself it worked wonders, no bs. I tore my Labrium to hell, almost 320 degree's of it, bone on bone scratching, had surgery, still felt bad, especially in the gym, started GH, moths later.. my shoulder is 2x's stronger than the other. My friend, who just did a 15wk's of low dose test "500" and deca"300" took 6iu's of blue tops and had a 2 small tears in his RC like yourself, he has zero pain and has been thanking me none stop, he has no insurance anymore since he lost his job but he did have an MRI that showed the tears prior to cycling. Kinda suck, my bro is 6'2 225 now, sniff, sniff, he is stonger than for the first time in... 17+ years..

No bone damage apart from what's been drilled into to reconnect the tendons..... I have a high dairy content in my diet so Calcium levels should be OK anyway..

Will certainly be using plenty of Joint formula...

Thanks for the info...........

I know that feel.

How'd u do it?

Did something similar, about a year ago. sounds like yours Is a whole nother level of pain though.

I had autologous blood shots and that worked quite well. 2 treatments made a world of difference. I suppose igf 1 might do the same or better. My doc (sports clinic) asked me if my sports was drug tested ... So I assume if u pushed it, u may be able to get igf 1 shots and have it paid by ACC.

During the recovery period I found nuerofen, fish oil, and ginger useful. Pretty much any anti inflam I could use to calm down the inflammation and pain.

Good luck bro!
