New guy starting out tomorrow, need advice.

Hi there, I am an 18 year old male starting body building tomorrow at my new gym. I am not aiming for competitions I just want to get myself looking my best. First off I need some advice, Motivation is hard for me to keep, I tried gymming last year for fitness and I went everyday for two weeks then stopped because I burnt myself out. Also, I have a bit of fat on me so I am guessing I would need to do cardio first to lose that and get ym joints ready to start,

Another thing is I get worried about what people think about me, I seem to fixed that as my motto now is "haters gonna gate" but here is a picture of my body now, and I know that it is going to take me forever to get looking good but I know with enough hard work and commitment anyone can do anything.

As you can see, a lot of work, I am quite podgy at the front. And you may have noticed my left nipple (Right in the pic) Is slighly bigger then the other one, this is due to a condition I have, I am hoping it will go down with training but if not, I will get corrective surgery one it.

Last of all please only post constructive replies, I look forward to getting your feedback.

EDIT: By the way I am 5ft'8 and 84KG currently.

Hah. That's what they all say. Wait till you start seeing the progress - suddenly a competition doesn't seem so far-fetched after all!

Motivation... I find it helps to have a goal physique in mind. Find photos of people whose physiques you can aspire to. Then when you catch yourself thinking about whether you can be bothered to go to the gym, picture yourself having that physique.

Have you got a workout routine in mind? Check out the routine in the Workout Library if you need.

Hi there and welcome.

As usual, Pseu's advice is spot-on.

If I was gonna add two pieces of advice, it'd be these two:

a. this is a marathon, not a sprint. You won't get there straight away, but if you go hell-for-leather and blow-out, you'll never get there.

b. do it for you, not for anyone else - the 'haters gonna hate' anyway - but you are the only one who can deliver you the physique you want.

Check out the resources tabs - heaps of good advice there for both exercise routines and diet.
