Male hair removal

Im a hairy bastard  and I don't like it so I've always been removing the stuff. For you Id suggest just removing with clippers once a week starting now so you can see your progress but once you get nearer to the show Id go the waxing option as it is cleaner and lasts longer. Its what I do. I gave up shaving my body ages ago

Id get it done before the show at least once though. 6 weeks out Id go and get the bodyparts you need waxed done and then do it again within a week of the show. First time is always the worst and most painful and most likely to get skin reactions etc so you want to go in prepared. Yes it hurts like shit but only fo a few seconds. Chest is most painful for me by far. Arms & legs not so bad, back not so bad either but chest is evil. Im a real hairy bastad with thick black hairs so you may not have it as bad as me.

When you go to get waxed make sure you've pre-clippered but not too short or it wont all come out. You want it to be about half an inch long when you go in. After 5 weeks it should be about that long again so you'll be gtg again. Follow the therapists instructions. No heavy sweating, very hot showers or chlorinated/salt water for 48 hours after. No creams or bodywash for same period. After a week you'll need to regularly exfoliate to prevent ingrown hairs

May sound like a pain in the ass, because it is. Shaving is worse unless you're not very hairy at all. If you aren't very hairy then waxing would be a piece of piss. Also, regular waxing will reduce the hair overall and it will stay thinned out for months after stopping. Hurts less the more you do it too. Dont do it if you're on roacutane or doxycycline as you can get bruising and skin damage. Don't do it if you're wired on EC or clen or coffee as it definitely hurts more. Make sure you're well hydrated too to reduce pain.

Feel free to ask any questions, been doing it for years now

I'd also add that you should do the final wax about 4 days before your show. The effect is best in the first week but show tan definitely comes under the list of shit you shouldn't put on within 48 hours.

Turn up to the appointment wearing budgie smugglers or they won't wax all the way up your legs properly as you need to keep underwear on unless you're going sack and crack which is not really necessary and not something I'll be trying....

You'll have to ask them if it's OK to wax your arse cheeks as long as you keep the smugglers on and they should be fine with it (but you'll have to tuck them in your ass crack lulz)

My mate Dave from up North had used a few different products and found 2 that work best.

1:Veet waxing strips, for more of the tamer hair growth very quick clean and easy to use not so cheap but effective.

2:Hot wax any kind of hot wax and probably the preffered of the 2 hurts like hell putting it on if your not very heat tolerant like me... uh Dave but the removal process is less painful and gets more into the roots so regrowth is slowed a tad, cheap as for a big tub of the stuff can what you don't use you can reheat for next time.

Both of which found in your local supermarket or Pharmacy so Dave says.

This is fine as long as you're not too hairy. If you're one of those guys with a patch of hair in the middle of your chest and a snail trail then yeah go for it. But if you look like a moth eaten gorilla I wouldn't even bother. You'll still have to go in and get your back done so you may as well bite the bullet and get someone who is experienced to do the rest. Waxing yourself if you're a hairy c*nt sux shit and takes ages. I'm not like one of those hairy Turkish bastards but I'm halfway there :pfft:

Also, don't wax your armpits if you're a guy, it hurts like f*ck. Armpits and pubes only need shaving

If you do want to try waxing don't do it just before your comp, even those depilatory creams, give them a run a couple of weeks out, you don't know how your body will react and the waxing can traumatise your skin and make you hold water etc etc etc

I reckon clippers then razor.

That's why I suggetsed he get it done 6 weeks out and then again in the week leading up to it. I find the skin irritation is gone after 2 days but I'm a regular. Will prob take a bit longer first time.

Then again it all depends how hairy OP is. He never said

i'm not that hairy and shaving works just fine.

Whatever way you go you don't want regrowth on show day it blurs the lines for the judges more than you'd think...crisp smooth look looks way better.

I've never waxed the parts you can see :pfft: but seems unneccessary for the whole body when shaving works just fine about 5 days out from the show...one day before you get a spray tan

Yeah chest is evil evil shit, I don't do it any more. The rest Ive gotten used to and its worth the month of relative hair-freeness for the discomfort :) I only do limbs in summer but I do the back/shoulders monthly just to keep it down and not send the women folk running for the hills

If I shave my body (or use veet) I get stubble again within 48 hours. Id have to do it on the day or the night before and then the tan would irritate the shit out of it, etc, etc.

All depends how hairy you are! I have thick black hairs that hang on like bastards when you try to yank them. Blood has been drawn :(

Im a trichophobe though so that shit's gotta go!

Thanks Dad! (although it's not really his fault either...)

Be really careful with waxing... coz guys have way more oil production i think it is they can often break out in acne, esp on the back. I've seen bad scarring from that coz the hair folicle gets infected really deep. I wouldnt recommended it at all for your first comp if you have never done it before. 6 weeks isnt enough time for it to clear if you have a bad reaction

Fair enough if you have really oily skin but I've been doing it for years and never had a real bad one. If you look after your skin you should be OK but there is always some risk.

Op could always get one of these :pfft:

Its just that everyone reacts different. Everyone has different thickness of hair as well and the thicker it is the more traumatic for the folicle. If you have been doing it for years your hair growth will be finer and more sparse anyways. Try waxing of course, but not before your comp... its just like how some chicks get their first spray tan just before their wedding and end up looking like a muppet. Common sense

LOL - yep.... I know a guy who that happened to.....

In all honesty if you have thick hair growth I wouldn't go there. I'm not exactly greek thick hair, but I definately react badly to waxing.

I've had this done at least 5 times - each time the same outcome - nearly every pore gets infected (small whitehead type dots) then the nasty deep ingrown hair / acne scar type stuff.

I've never had bad skin, but after a wax it takes at least 2 months (with lots of sun/UV) to look like I'm not a 21 year old thats been using 2 grams of test a week!! :pfft:

Hair clippers FTW, with maybe a blade shave just before a comp.
