nice and lean dude, but really would have thought you would be in the Athletic class, then you'll be competing against guys your own size and shape.

Having said that, Novice Physique can be a mixed bunch of guys at the best of times, guess it depends who turns up on the day

Best of luck, bring home the gold mate, and hope you enjoy the experience!!!!

Still no legs

He's posted leg shots before. He has them.

Anyway, 15 days out from a competition, your posing won't be good by then. It's hard enough getting in down in 15 WEEKS.

Anyway, onya for giving this a go. Planning on doing a few shows this year? (sorry if I haven't been NZBB stalking you).

Good Work on commiting to your first comp mate, the veins through your lower abdomen and quads already show that you will definatley be on target for 3 weeks to look competitive onstage.

In response to Androids post on class selection, I suppose you have the 2 options, One would be physique, especially if you plan on keeping your proportions and adding mass each year this would be a good class to look at. If you find you are growing fast (as it appears you are) long term this could be a good class for you, obvioulsy it takes alot of sacrifice and lifestlye choice to succed nationally with the big boys and ALOT of eating!

Sometimes this Novice Physique class has cut, well proportioned guys and sometimes it reveals some freaky dude who has been slugging away for a decade or more in the gym but never competed, you never know who will front up on the day!

However if you plan to stay more or less where you are at (weight and mass wise)and just add some quality into areas that you want to bring up and fancy taking your conditioning to the extreme, then another option to look at would be Athletic, at your height (180cm) you would need to be under 82kg for NABBA NZ, or could compete at under 87ish for NABBA WFF or I think from memory 84-86kgs for NZIFBB in the athletic/classic classes.

Assuming you drop another couple of KG;s of water and a bit more BF in your final few weeks until the weigh in you may find that with the amount of muscle you already have it would make it touch and go to make the weight with NABAA NZ, which can be a good or bad thing as most of the guys who currently win classes are usually right on the weight. NABBA Wff and NZIFBB's higher weight cut offs would potentially give you room to add weight on stage but still stay in the Athletic Class.IMO one of the worst things a young BBuilder can do is have to sacrifice size/growth (other than what comes off unavoidably through dieting) just to make a weight class as this takes months of lost growth time in putting it back on the next season and screws with your energy levels for potentially a long time!

I wish I was faced with the dialema of having to just make the weight like the top local guys but personally I am always under come comp time! Work in progress LOL.

In any event, best of luck for the day, definately got some great arm and pec size and also good torso mass when you are hitting the ab shots especially over the serratus which adds to that classic look. You may want to look at some overhead ZANE style posing to accentuate this on the day as not everyone has the pec and torso thickness to pull it off. Loochi does these shots with confidence and looks incredible doing them. If you can pull them off it will generally inpress the judges as many of them grew up in the classic era where these poses were common place.

POSING ADVICE= PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, even when you want to go to bed due to the low carb fatique, try to get a few more session in as you can never do enough. Having well rehearsed 1/4 turns and compulsories is a must ,stay flexed from neck down THE WHOLE TIME ON STAGE, even if you arent involved in the current comparison as the judges are ALWAYS watching, even from the moment you start to walk out think big/wide and confident.

POSE FROM THE GROUND UP, dig toes in to flare calves, press onto outside of feet to engage sartorious and vastus lateralis, abs in or crunched down (with your good pec development I would recommend abs in a lift chest), relax face, smile and enjoy it.

Other important point, if in doubt add one more coat of Dream Tan or more layers of Pro Tan as many novices come in way too light. Dont want to waste a 12-16 week cut on a simple oversight.

Good luck mate, hope you enjoy the experience!

Okay heres the posing vid. no pump etc, i know how bad it is. I'm not going to get up on stage and make a mockery of myself with posing like this, 1hour every morning from today onwards.

May aswell point out all the glaring flaws though brahs, my legs really do look pathetic, i'm missing something when it comes to posing with them : /. and my posing from the left is something special, i find it so awkward lol

enjoy.. lolol

(im holding water because its carb day for the week)

Mate, upper body in front relaxed pose looks great, wide capped shoulders, good chest and taper. I would widen stance slightly (too wide and they might get you to close your legs closer),Again to get your legs to come out try turning you feet about 45% out, clench toes and "press"knees out to bring out sartorious and outside quads.

Conditioning wise I would add 30-45 mins fast walking every day to get down just 1 or 2 more percent. Come comp day this can be the difference between 1st and 4th!

To get the other compusories right it may be necassary to latch on to a competitor and have them cue you for say 1 hour every night if possible, if this isnt possible print some pics of experienced competitors and try and match the poses. Other thing is once you hit the shot, dont twitch or shake around too much-try to look confident and poised.

Simple cues:

Front lat spread needs to lift the chest and "press" the lats forward.

Side Chest, lift rear pec and vacumn waist, press near calf right onto ball of foot and press hamstring into rear leg. If you hammies are good, try dropping into a semi bent leg position to emphaisze the hammy.

Any rear shots, dig calves in and pose from the ground up.Really contract hammies on these.

Most musclular goo for gold as youve got good a good pec line, just remember to keep abs tight throughout.

Try and hit your best shots early and hold them for longer to maximize the effect and hit week shots late and dont hold them for as long.

Just my 2 cents

This is really what i need, i've got another coaching session this week. And i'll post up another video after that, really apreciate this kind of post mate.

You know your shit up and down..

great natty progress, mirin hard. what natural heath products you taking brah?

ugh yeah i know, fish oil bla bla bla

Lol burst out laughing at the front lat spread, couldnt help it sorry. Could see your hands twitching to adjust your pants in that side relaxed lol.

Right side chest looked SICK but left side was MEH. Maybe because of tattoo? Anyway good work

Yeah i can't pull a front lat spread for some reason, my worst pose. I need to fix it, and yeah posing from the left fucking sucks. tatt probably doesn't help but it just feels so awkward. thats the other thing i'm going to place emphasis on, other than learning to properly tense through hams etc

Here's why your front lat is awkward. You're hiding your lats in stead of showing them off. Roll your shoulders forward just a tad. Bring your elbows forward more so they're facing the walls, then push out (but keep those hands on your hips). Your hands a really limp like an old man. Keep them a little more stiff like a teenager.

Chest up high, you should feel your erecters tighten up. Remember, chest high, don't lean back, it's an easy thing to confuse. You'll probably have to keep your legs together instead of one in front. Well, if the judge asks you to anyway.

Now go look in the mirror or something, and see if that changes it anything.

Easiest way I find to remember how to do a correct lat spread is like start hunched over and stretch your traps like hug yourself. then hang your arms down but stay relaxed like that. Slowly pivot up and back from the middle of your lower back like where your christmas tree is and you want to squeeze there to help get that spread. shoulders and traps are completely relaxed. then flare your lats a bit more by imaginng your shoulder blates pulling down and apart and then pull up through your chest (tense it).

Mine aren't perfect though and i tend to keep one shoulder higher which it looks like you are doing a tiiiiny bit on the vid which is why gotta practice keeping upper traps relaxed etc.

Obv you wont have time to do all this at the show but its good way to practice. The mirror suggestion is also good.
