Hey, i want some advice please. im 95kg and 6 foot and its mainly fat. i want to get muscle and lose weight too. what way do you think i should train.

I have had enough of being fat, i look in the mirror dissapointed in myself but i signed up for the gym 2-3 weeks ago cos its time for a change. I am enjoying it and feel better about myself. My brother is a gym rat and he has a good build to him. He said to me once i get into it he reckons my natural build is a bit better than his so he thinks i should be able to be big and have tone like he does. He is moving away for the year and i want him to see the changes that i make. I will upload a link with a pic of me but i am real selfcontious about myself and it was hard for me to upload this so no negativity would be great. Also help and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Good post! Not even I have the confidence to post yet.

I say cardio and general strength training in all areas. Don't neglect legs like most of us on this site.

Stick with it, may be a few months before you notice big changes but it's better than doing nothing!

Will be great to follow progress, lets see what everyone else things.

Thanks for posting btw.

Bigger balls than most mate

you need to change your attitude bro. you are more likely to stick with your goals if you think about the positives rather than training to escape being fat. you won't stick at it when things get tough if you don't have the right mindset.

i reckon if being fat bothers you that much you should do some cardio with the weights rather than jumping straight in to a bbing split.

the improvements you see in the mirror will be pretty minor and prob won't motivate you much. make strength your focus and try put more weight on the bar every time you head in the gym.

i reckon you should do starting strength (http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/ ... he_Program) where you do weights mon, wed, fri and do an hour of cardio sun, tue, thu.

try keep your heart rate above 150 for an hour and you will burn fat like crazy.

when you have leaned up and have a decent strength base you could look at switching to a classic 5/6 day bbing split to put on some more muscle. depends what your goals are.

oh and train with your brother. if he's already a gym rat, training with a partner is the best way to get your ass in the gym every day.

if you don't give up it could very well be the most positive thing that ever happens in your life.

Training is the best thing that ever happened to me. Do it for yourself bro, you'll be amazed at how you feel in a year. Short term pleasures vs long term pleasures. Successful people, truly happy people, sacrifice the the first to gain the second

mate all i can say is get the right information and set yourself some short goals and get a good diet set up and the rest will fall into place, soon you will see the weight fall off and under that weight is the muscle you have been working on all that time and it will start to show and this will motivate you even more, remember to set the building blocks in place first,, go hard and give it 100 %,,, good luck

Thanks heaps NZhredder and yorky boy. I have loving the gym ! Was doing back today with my brother and the guys at the gym said to my brother. 'Shit he will be catching upto you soon! ' then my brother replied 'yea i know thats why i'm working even harder!' :pfft: . I know its not all about how heavy the weight is. Yesterday i was doing chest. was doing incline dumbells last week only using 10kg's cos my form was shit. yesterday i got the hang of my form and i was doing 26's.

I know it takes time but I am loving it and it make me feel good about myself. Don't care if the weight is light or anything everyone starts from somewhere. I just do my own thing. Everybody starts somewhere.

Have also changed my attitude already. A week or two ago i was negative saying to myself i am shit. but this week ive been going hard and when my brother says one more rep, i do one more after that! Want him to be proud of me!

Ahhhh!

I just worked out who you are!

You look like you've been in the gym a lot longer than two weeks bro - seem to have taken to it like a fish to water. Was a goo back training session I saw you doing yesterday with your bro, keep up the good work - the results will come, usually with strength first (as you are starting to see) followed by muscle mass gain.
