I worked a LM last in 2010, I really hated the binding contracts that they slam members with. I thought at he most you should just have to pay an exiting fee. i.e. $100.

But its only a 12 month contract, not sure how long you've got to go so just wear it and make the most of being an LM member.

To get the last laugh all you need to do is not to rejoin and get your circle of mates gong to a different gym.

Cheers.

Face up to your obligations..

Whether the contract is one sided or not you still signed it......

Buy a car for 10k and find its only worth 8k. Tough shit to be blunt.

No i am not employed by the gym but if people are foolish enough to sign on the line the take responsibility.

I bet if you went to a bank and asked to break a contract they would charge you as well..........

In the end it is called due diligence.

I had this problem also- it reminded me of trying to escape the Roman Inquisition as they came after my first born child. I was left thinking the Mills family are one of the most stingy and money hungry families in NZ- they have mastered the art of binding contracts which are impossible to escape- much like the big banks. Pages of terms and conditions. To me, this is the core of the Les Mills empire- money. Not people's health. It was a disgusting experience.

I seen a membership canceled like this

"Accidently" Drop a empty vial, labled Trenbolone in front of staff etc. Talk loudly about steroids to trainers ask loudly if the could help you with a cycle. Loudly encourage other members to try gear. Etc, They will soon pull you aside and cancel you membership as they dont "want that kind of culture in their gym"

Thread necromancer lol. Interesting topic though, the law is currently changing, they're specifically targeting telcos and gyms for the ridiculously onerus contracts they get people into. Its not on and for anyone currently facing this situation it's probably worth taking it to disputes tribunal to get the decision made there, you have a decent chance of getting out of the contract.

i have found a good way to do this is tell them you are leaving the country in 3 days, tell them you can offer 30% of whatever they want as settlement as you are broke and don't want to have bad debt.

9/10 they will agree.

from their point of view 30% of 100$ is better than them paying a debt collector $100 to collect 0$ (if you have left the country)
