How many of you guys drink alcohol regularly? Do you feel it affects your gains or has little to no effect? Also curious as to how much you drink when you do. I dont drink that often but when i do i may have 12 woodies or something , then cant eat or train the next day.

If your natty I def think it would make a massive impact and it does I remeber when I was drinking every weekend by drinking i mean getting fkd up had fk all gains

now I just dont get smashed enless its a special occasion tho I do have a couple every time i go out.

9 times / 10 when I go out (most weekends) I get MUNTED and will usually drink half a bottle of whiskey at home then 6-8 drinks when I'm out and sometimes the odd disco biscuit or Devils dandruff.

Like vader has said I also found it to have had more of an effect when I was natty, but in saying that I still went out 3/4 weekends and made good progress. Unless your competing I don't see why you shouldn't have a balance between focusing on training and letting loose if that's what you enjoy.

I try not to drink unless I really feel the need to. But I'm one of these people if I go out I find it hard not to drink, so I tried to cut out pre drinking etc and made myself only have like vodka diet coke. Helps that im a lightweight though (this is especialy true when on low carbs) and it kinda made me change my club behaviour like instead of beeing crazy falling all over the dancefloor I'd end up being outside smoking and talking instead.

I think being natty and a girl is the worst because of the impact on hormones.

But I found that when I was training and going out I still made gains, but after a while even though I like going out got to the point where afterwards I would feel so shit about fucking up my training it wasn't worth it and my Monday/tuesday sessions would usually be shocking still after a big night on a Sat. Then It would put me off going out unless there was a proper reason i.e results day. Freshers/Refreshers. Holidays so old mates were back from uni. Close mates birthdays etc.

It depends on the social situation aswell. Because where I lived there was only a couple of clubs and everyone knows eachother in the age range because of the schools/colleges/uni I ended up getting to know who else was there who'd be not drinking etc and who I could have a dece conversation with, it wasnt like you go to a club and know noone there have to kinda like be drunk to enjoy it. If I went on a night out like that in the bigger city nearby I would definitely drink. But say I was chilling at a mates and they were like lets get a bottle of wine or something I'd definitely not feel the need.

I think what really sealed the deal was going to Ibiza and seeing the effect that alcohol and partying had on my body after just 10 days... I wish i had a before and after. if i go again I might do that.

@Vader. Pretty much agree with what you said bro, I think i gained 20kg in 2 years after giving up drinking as a natty.

Haha Ibiza is an amazing way to not get shitfaced every weekend and save it for two crazy weeks on the best island on the planet (bar NZ obviouslyy??)

My friends wanna do 2 weeks this year, Makes me feel ill just thinking about it. but its actually almost worth the 2.5k flight back to the uk and the 2k spending money I'd probably need (modest for 2 weeks but I'm a girl so...) Now I just need to get that job...

Used to stress out drinking was hindering my progress but I don't now after seeing the progress others at my gym make while getting smashed every weekend (not naming names mr drop my drink everywhere then go have a sleep in the toilets at the running bull :pfft: ). Now I just have a few small Volka and redbulls before I go out then a couple while I'm out, just enough to get that drunken confidence 8) gotta have some balance in your life :nod:

Although booze alone tends to make me eat a shit ton of whatever I can get my hands on. Pizza(s), burgers, pies, chips.... Then I need a few big hangover feeds the next day too so I end up smashing back many thousands of calories I could probably do without. Im an 18 beers kinda guy more than whiskey tho but I do and will drink anything really. I don't get the munchies from weed any more but once I pass the 6 beers mark, it's on. I only get smashed on weekends and I don't train in the weekend so it doesn't make me miss workouts but Monday can be a bit slow going sometimes

I think it differs for different people, I think as long as it doesn't effect your ability to train and you can still make it to the gym and give it your all then you are fine. I usually only drink Saturdays and usually get pretty fucking hammered :lol: But Sunday is my rest day and I still hit the gym fine on Monday, I don't drink on Thursdays cos I know it would f*ck me over for my Deadlifts on Friday so just a wee bit of common sense never goes astray :nod:

I think it differs for different people, I think as long as it doesn't effect your ability to train and you can still make it to the gym and give it your all then you are fine. I usually only drink Saturdays and usually get pretty fucking hammered :lol: But Sunday is my rest day and I still hit the gym fine on Monday, I don't drink on Thursdays cos I know it would f*ck me over for my Deadlifts on Friday so just a wee bit of common sense never goes astray :nod:

Agree with you here, had a few hungover sessions during Smolov and could not think of anything worse such a stupid thing to do and fucked up my workouts. If I had the Sundays as rest then sure hit town have a few drinks 12-20 beers sleep in eat shit.

In saying that have been off any drink/drugs for this whole year (besides 1st Jan) and have been feeling great health wise and workouts been good as well even started to lean out pre diet also. I think it comes down to how well you recover if your a stay in bed all day eat crap foods after a bender then perhaps drinking isn't for you if you deal with it ok keep hydrated then shouldn't be any issue with having a good time.

Wellington seems to be very popular with the binge drinking and town scene which I have nothing against just the longer I stay sober the more I realise how much I hate drunken dickwads and idiot behaviour.

i've fit it in to my cut about once every two week - no dinner and make sure get all the protein i need before going out leaving about 800 free cals for the night

I usually take a bottle of diet coke/sprite drink some and put 8 shots of rum/vodka in there and then only need 4 or so vodka soda's or rum diets in town.

Haven't broken diet and not tempted for feed after.

I hit the piss pretty hard, but when I have breaks of 6-8 weeks of the booze I find I can easily drop 1.5 KG a week and get pretty cut up. If I have a large weekend OTP and let my diet go I can easily go up 1.5KG :(

Everything in moderation though aye...

i dont think moderation exists in the language of bodybuilding lol.
