Coan Phillipi Week 10 - FINAL DAY OF PROGRAM

Before I go any further... 260KG YEAH BUDDY!!!!!!!

Ok, so 255kg was on the program but 260kg has 6 plates per side and I wanted that so thats what I decided and what I went after.... :nod:

Deadlift

60kg * 6

100kg * 3 - 2 sets

140kg * 3 - 2 sets

180kg * 1

180kg * 1 (b)

200kg * 1 (b)

230kg * 1 (b) - fast

250kg * 1 (b) - felt decent...

Work Set

260kg * 1 (b) - 10kg PR, bit slow above the knees but got it without hitching!!!

Speed Sets

150kg * 3 (b) - 2 sets, nice and speedy

Power Shrugs - With straps

180kg * 5 - 2 sets

No more heavy deadlifts now, 8 days out! May squat sunday, last decent weight before the comp. Did that before the BBro last year, minimised assistance two weeks before, the final heavy squat was the Sunday before the competition which actually worked out well so just repeating what worked previously. Can't wait for CD's!

Yeah unsure how I would structure the attempys though aye... Maybe 240, 260, 272.5? 250 may fatigue me a bit too much and I want a gimmie for opener! haha

I may even just squat light to save it for the deads? What you think?

That is true bro, I've always been guilty of the opposite and opening too low, but I see your point. 240-260 then 272 sounds better :nod:

Yeah if you're looking all out for deads, and you're not in danger of missing qualifying by going soft, then by all means take the foot off the pedal. Were you going classic anyway? Could always just do something easy like a 180-200 to get enough for your qualifier, but not stress the body too hard, then go for broke on the deads :nod:

I'm hardly an expert at it though bro just throwing ideas around haha.

Ahhh I don't think there is a classic total qualifier from memory - you just have to post a total classically (at this stage anyway) to qualify (I believe!).

I assumed you were going for the standard Nats? Just doing raw nats this year or looking at both?

How do I know what the classic total qualifier is?

The talk is at the moment NEC that it will be between 10-15% of the equipped total to qualify for the Classic Cup. Some say 10% others 15% so it will go to the vote. I would look at 10% to be safe.

An yeah Drizz probably just raw nats this year, got a wedding in Oz near the normal nats so think the $$ will have to go for Raws as that's my main focus this year!

Appreciate the support Rod, Phedder, MT, Red & VP! Only six days now!

Had my final heavy session today, squats an bench openers an seconds. Forgot my wrist wraps so just taped them up haha.

Squatted first an worked up to singles at 200 an 210 - best in competition raw is 205 so should nail that.

Then benched, worked up to singles with competition calls, 2 sets of singles at 120 an 130 - my raw competition best bench is 115 so that will be getting a good hiding :)

Heres the vid - training without a mirror and in soft suit to mimic comp conditions. Stupid bench moved on last set, not much though luckily.

Wednesday 14th March

Deload Session - Final Session before Meet

Easy session. Hardly worth recording but it helps when looking back at prep for each meet. Simply worked up to 50% of planned openers an did 3*3 at that.

Squats

60kg * 3 - 2 sets

100kg * 3 - 3 sets

Bench

Bar * 3

60kg * 3 - 3 sets

Deadlift

60kg * 3

100kg * 3

120kg * 3 - 3 sets

3 days... Goodluck to all competing!

Cheers Phed, didn't quite click today. On the Phone at the mo so just a quick update:

Squat = 260/280/passed final

Bench = 140/145/passed final

Dead = 260/missed275 popped shoulder/passed final

Total = 685

1st men's 105.

Bit of a woeful day, gutted I didn't get a 700 total, just nothing felt any good today. Will do a proper write up with vid tomorrow probably.

Central Districts Champs Report

Weighed in at 89.4kg, was great not worrying about weight an just eating normal all the way up to the competition. Will likely try sit around or just above 90kg for 2012, quite like the weight at present.

All warmups went well, no issues with the squat or bench warmups, went smooth an followed my plans I had laid out. Deadlifts felt heavy on the warm up, but thats expected with them being the final lifts of the day, I never remember lights for each lift so will just put good/bad lift...

Squats

Attempt One: 200kg - Good lift

Nice an smooth so stepped up the 2nd...

Attempt Two: 215kg - Good lift (10kg Raw PB)

Felt pretty good again so thought I would give 500lbs a crack

Attempt Three: 227.5kg - Good lift (22.5kg Raw PB)

Hadn't planned this, good feeling to nail it!

Bench

Attempt One: 120kg - Good lift (5kg Raw PB)

Smooth, stepped up the 2nd...

Attempt Two: 135kg - Good lift (20kg Raw PB)

Bit tough, back cramped a fair bit so passed the 3rd to keep things ok for deads...

Deadlifts

Attempt One: 240kg - Good lift

Easy money

Attempt Two: 260kg - Good lift (17.5kg PB)

Bit tougher, 600lbs wouldn't have been there so tried for a CD record...

Attempt Three: 267.5kg - No Lift

Got it above the knees an hit the wall. Not enough in the tank, think its not far away, 600lbs is also getting very close... (the 265 record got beaten in the eqquiped category in the afternoon anyway!)

Total = 622.5kg

Big total PB!! Equaled my equipped total raw! Was hoping for approx 600kg so very happy. Squats did far better than expected, hit my bench aim and happy with the 260 dead! 600lbs will fall earlier than expected this year
