Ann
Hey everyone, I'm new to this site so howzit all going? I went to the Nabba Nationals both prejudging and night show. Walking away from that show left me pondering questions. What the hell are the judges looking for? I know that a few people were asking alot of questions - not many were answered either. Granted the judges got quite a few of the placings right, however, overall, it was pretty much a joke. I've just come off another site - Bill Dobbins - and in one of his articles he mentions - OVERALL PACKAGE - ummm - that's what I feel was missed with many of the classes. A big shout out to the Open Men - they looked fantastic and Philly Nuku rightly deserved his placing, he may not have been bigger than some of the other guys in his class, but he was well proportioned and came in looking very good. International athletic, Masters as well as Open Figure - appalling calls. International Athletic stumped me - Here are the placings that I had these guys in1) Aron Noble2) Delaine (can't remember his surname)3) Gary NairnBased purely on hardness, muscle development and overall symmetry.Open Figure Tall1) Jacqui Jarrett2) Lisa Bellingham3) Jackie PooleBased on overall proportions and muscle development as well as symmetry. My pick for the Ms NZ Figure Title went to Lisa Pavelka from ChCh. This women looked fantastic and no-doubt someone who could foot it on the international stage. Masters - well what do you say to this one? Sure the guys that placed were lean and hard but I doubt very much if any of them knew what a squat rack was!!! Gees, and they wonder why the Regent was only half full!!! NABBA is not what it use to be. Back in the early nineties the Teachers Auditorium in P/N as well as many of the other regionals were sold out for both the prejudging and the night - show - now all we have are half full arenas. Judges, it is time that you started listening to those competitors that make these federations and stop the political crap that you know is going on - you're killing the sport!! Well that's my HUGE BLEET for this year...... See you all. Oh by the way if you wanna email me about my opinion - here it is ajh-2000@hotmail.comBye for now
2guns
what about the novice physique (tall) how can that guy ivar win?also wondering how the best rountine is judged?????seeing he won the best routine at the counties show, when his wasnt even that great compared to others.must be his sparkly trunks! :pfft:
Ann
Yeah - must've been the sparkly trunks!! I don't know!!!! I doubt very much the judges at Nabba have got an ounce of rhythm anyway, they're not exactly choreographers, if you know what I mean. People can give me alot of flak on this matter and that's fine - just my opinion, but I mean really - look at the judges - (apart from Leanne of course - that girl can pose) the rest of them I mean OMG!!!! Ya can't tell me that Ms Poole is Janet Jackson now can ya!!See ya all later  :rockout:

Andrew
ok here’s my call on the International Athletic class at the Nationals … Aron has a wonderful physique but came in a little softer then usual (most notable in the legs) and was giving away a little size to Gary and Delaine, As for Delaine the guy could have easily won if he had done two things 1:Tan he was to light, makes a big difference if you get it correct 2:Wasn’t wasted, being wasted doesn’t help your posing!! (he did the same thing in Taupo last weekend)… All three where of a top standard and at that level it can be the small things that can make or break you
poos_n_wees
This aint the first time nor will it be the last where people will disagree with how the judging goes No use crying over spilt milk. If I was a competitor and disagreed with the placings, I'd approach the judging panel and ask why I lost out. Then I'd make damn sure I bust my ass to show 'em up next time round. I guess this is the risk you take competing in a sport that requires "subjective" judging.
