From anorexic stick to lean skinny boy

So it's been a year since I started lifting and I thought I would post some comparison pics. I gained 17kgs so far but I started off as one of those dollar a day Ethiopian starved younglings.

I'm sure most of my weight gain has been in my legs and glutes, as my chest and arms are still embarassingly small.

I'm not really posting this to show off, rather it's a good way to summarise my year of lifting.

Here are body measurements

Body part | Dec 2010 ---> Dec 2011 = x gain

Bodyweight | 54kgs ---> 71kgs = 17kgs gain

Chest | 84cms ----> 95cms = 11cm gain

Arm (flexed) | 26cms ----> 33cms = 7cm gain

Waist | 72cms (relaxed) -> 72cms vacuumed, 77cms relaxed = 5cm gain

Thigh | 46cms ----> 57cms = 11cm gain

Shoulders | 98cms ----> 117cms = 19cm gain

Calves | 31cms ----> 36cms = 5cm gain

Forearms | 22cms ----> 27cms = 5cm gain

Now for the pics :pfft: go easy on me

Last three photos courtesy of Big John at 2011 North Island Powerlifting champs. Also that's TinyTraps in the background of my squat and deadlift pictures lol.

I think I have achieved a lot this year and I'm really pleased with my progress so can't wait for 2012. Bring it on!

Oh and I'm 100% el naturale :pfft: :pfft: :pfft:

Nice work all round - you should be proud of what you've achieved, you've obviously worked pretty hard.

What are your goals for 2012 then?

Thanks twophat, goals would be as follows for Dec 2012:

Body weight 80kgs or a full and lean 74kgs, dunno about this as I want to set some records in NZ Powerlifting and I might have a better chance if I stay in U74s BUT I want to get big too.

Arms 15 inches or 38cms flexed cold

Squat (belt only) 200kgs

Squat (with squat suit and knee wraps) 231kgs

Bench 110kgs raw

Deadlift 220kgs belt only

The reason Ive listed three goals for squat is because with the introduction of raw powerlifting, I want to set records in both. The standard for the U74 Raw squat is 195kgs. The current record for Nzs equipped squat U74 is 230kgs by Brett Gibbs.

Current lifts are

Squat 180kg with knee wraps, probably 160-170 without knee wraps

Bench 90kgs

Deadlift 190kgs

at a bodyweight of 69.36kgs

Keep at it

So you are leaning more to power lifting?

But asethically want BB physique?

Good luck with 2012 goals and ups for posting

Yes, powerlifting is my main goal at the moment but I would like to get bigger as that's why I started lfting in the first place. I admire both sports, and I be mirin guys in powerlifting like Kirk Karwoski, Ed Coan, Konstantinov Konstantin as well as the bodybuilders like Stan McQuay, Arnold, Kai Greene and Phil Heath. Don't really think I have the genetics for BB, to be honest.

Current lifts are

Squat 180kg with knee wraps, probably 160-170 without knee wraps

Bench 90kgs

Deadlift 190kgs

at a bodyweight of 69.36kgs

which equals

Squat 180/69.36 = 2.595 times your bodyweight

Bench 90/69.36 = 1.297 times your bodyweight

Deadlift 190/69.36 = 2.729 times your bodyweight

2012 goal

80 Kg

Squat 231/80 = 2.8875 times your bodyweight

Bench 110/80 = 1.375 times your bodyweight

Deadlift 220/80 = 2.75 times your bodyweight

try the weight gain if thats what you want if you want bigger lifting gains then the weight to lift ratio is better cheers

Cheers for that, interesting way to put it. But I like this better:

2012 goal

73.9kgs

Squat 231/73.9 = 3.1 times bodyweight

Bench 110/73.9 = 1.5 times bodyweight

Deadlift 220/73.9 = 3 times bodyweight

I'll see how it goes with the weight, about 71-72kgs in the morning on home scales at the moment. :roll: Oh and I forgot to mention this in original post but I'm 5 ft 7 inches (171cms)

Thanks Drizzt, nice gains yourself. What is it, like 100kgs you've put on your squat this year?

Thanks man, yeah I used 180 as my max for Smolov back in May (I think it was May?), and landed that 280 today, so about 100 in 7-8 months I suppose.

But this thread ain't about me, enjoy the new year bro, stay strong 8)

All homo slinging aside, you have made decent gains Tom (yes, from a bag of bones, but still a great gain) in a year. I can respect that much. :nod:

But I will still stalk your postings (no homo), waiting for you to put your foot in your mouth. :lol:

Now, on topic: drizzt, you real brah?
