Another good solid training today (Mon 17 Sep)

Technique feeling the best it's ever felt. Feeling strong, with plenty left in the tank - just need to make sure I keep on working hard and not get ahead of myself.

BW - 139kg

NHG NFM Snatch - 50x2x3, 70x2x2, 90x1, 100x2, 110x1, 120kg x 1 x 3

Hang Snatch - 70x2, 100x2, 110x2, 120x2, 130kg x 2 x 3 (PB)

Clean & Jerk - 70x2+1, 100x2+1x2, 120x2+1, 140x2+1, 160kg x 2+1 x 3

Back Squat - 60x5, 110x3, 160x2, 200x3, 230kg x 5 x 3

Hang Snatches were good - 130x2 is an all-time PB - 120x1 was my best before.

Cleans felt good. Jerks need a bit more work.

Squats were easy 300x5 is very likely to fall with my build up to the PL Oceanias.

Last Heavy/Max session this Friday at MISH with the NorthSport crew and then a 2-week taper leading in to the NZ Oly Nats on 6th October. Feeling good, but need to stay focused.

6 October 2012 - NZ Weightlifting Nats, Millennium Institute

A good day in the office at the NZ Weightlifting Nats.

Snatch 145kg, 150kgx, 150kg (3kg comp PB)

C&J 170kg, 180kg (2kg comp PB), 190kgx

Total 330kg (5kg comp PB)

Stoked to hit 150kg snatch on the comp platform. 180kg CJ felt good - but my technique went a bit off for the 190kg attempt lol I'll get it next time :) I'm happy with the result but there's still more work to be done #NeverEnds :)

incredible strength.

That clean and jerk is explosive given you don't drop down too much, it's like a small bend at the knees then BAM! up she goes! nice work

you easily pulled those weights up fast mate

Cheers bro!!! Felt good on the day - still a bit more work to do.

Many thanks again mate #Salute

It's 9-weeks untill the IPF Raw Oceania Champs. Feeling a bit under prepared but will give it 100%. 340 sq is looking possible after doing 300x2 a couple of weeks ago. Bench and Deadlift need work though. My target is 800 RAW total (my PB is 775kg raw), which I hope will get me a medal :) But anything can happen on the day :)

I will test in 4-weeks at the NZ Classic Cup (3 Nov) and in 7-weeks at the Bledisbro Cup (24 Nov), then will follow a basic 2-week taper :)

I will still incorporate oly lifting with my training and will look to continue with weekly max sessions - 155/190 in training is the target before the year is up.

Plenty of work to do - still enjoying it :)

Yesterday's training

Snatch Pull + Snatch - 130 x 1+1 x 3

Power Clean + Push Press - 140 x 2+1 x 2

Deadlift Tech - many singles at 180

A1 - Miltary Press - 80 x 5 x 3

A2 - CG Press Ups - 3 sets to failure

B1 - Pendlay Rows - 110 x 5 x 3

B2 - Ring Rows - 3 sets to failure

Stretch

Niue Powerlifting Comp, Claytons Bar, Alofi - 18 October 2012

I spent a week in Niue conducting a training camp for the Niue Youth Weightlifting Team and the Niue Junior Powerlifting Team. We held a test event at the conclusion of the training camp which was a huge success for the young lifters. Many of them broke personal bests and broke national records.

My lifting was a great success too - I lifted well and didn't get injured - which is a win-win in my books LOL.

BW - 142.2kg

Squat - 280, 310, Pass

Bench Press - 150, 160, 170

Deadlift - 260, 280, Pass

Total - 760kg Raw

The squat felt a bit wobbly as we were using the bigger oly plates - which is why I decided to pass on my third attempt - both were easy though.

The bench felt good - was happy to pause 170 again - need to get this up closer to 200 though.

The deadlift felt awesome - 280 is the heaviest I've deadlifted since 2008 - which was before I dislocated my elbow. I think I may have found my deadlift technique again :)

Happy with my lifting on the day but still plenty of work to be done. Happy training everyone.

Mean lifting  That deadlift looked super easy as well, 300kg deadlift and 800kg total coming your way soon mate, massive!

You doing the Raw nats on Nov 3rd?

Cheers bro! Was a good day in the office - still a bit of work to be done but I feel like I've re-found my deadlift technique - hope it sticks around  :D

Yep, I'm gonna head down and have a blast. Will catch you there bro

I won't be there unfortunately, would love to but it conflicts with exams for uni. I'm doing the BBro instead, so hopefully see you at the record breakers?

All goods bro. I was going to the Bbro, but have had a change of plans :( The Bbro is one of the best comps I've competed in and the record breakers will be massive. All the best with your prep leading in to it bro!

Todays training consisted of lifting up to my planned 'opening attempts' for the NZ Raw PL Nationals (held next week).

300/170/270 is the plan to start as high as I can, then to try and lift PBs on my 2nd or 3rd attempts - my current RAW PB's are 330 squat, 175 bench, 282.5 deadlift.

My squat felt a bit sluggish today, well not as crisp as I could lift. My bench felt great today, my PB of 175kg is looking under threat if I can keep the momentum going. My deadlift felt a little bit off to be honest - same as the squat, I felt sluggish here. Nothing major to fix I think, just need to get more rest and prepare the mind to hit the platform with no fear #NoFear

NZ Raw Classic Cup, Tauranga.

An OK day in the office - squats were off today, bench and deadlift were awesome.

BW - 143.1kg

Squat - 312.5, 320x, 320x - bleh! haha

Bench - 160, 170, 177.5 (2.5kg PB) - stoked!

Deadlift - 270, 285 (2.5kg PB), 292.5 (10kg PB) - super stoked!

Total - 782.5kg (7.5kg PB) - stoked again!

I set 4 x PBs, 7 x unofficial NZ Raw Records and placed 1st in the 120+kg Class (I was the only SHW though lol). But I think I ranked 2nd overall on wilks points - 2nd best raw lifter in NZ - I'll take it :)

Only 5-weeks until Oceania Champs :) More work to be done :)

Comp #2 - Bledisbro Cup & NZ Record Breakers - 7-day turn around

Training - Mon 19th Nov

AM - MIT Sports Lab

Back Squat - 100x3, 140x4, 180x3, 220x3x3

Front Squat - 60x3x5

Stretch

PM - Gilliies Ave

Snatch - 70x2x2, 100x2, 120x1x2, 130x1, 135x1x2

C&J - 70x2x3, 100x2, 120x1x2, 140x1x3

Stretch

Tough training today - had to split it in to AM and PM sessions to allow for a bit more recovery. Squats and snatches were easy. But my right quad is a bit iffy - was suppose to CJ up to 170, but didn't want to risk an injury. Other than that, the body has come through fine from the comp on Saturday, just a bit fatigued - nothing a bit of rest won't fix. Keep up the good training everyone!

Prep is going well to back up in Comp #2 this weekend. The body is starting to return to 100%. Training yesterday consisted of Moderate Squats, Heavy snatches and Light C&Js - they felt good. Only concern is my right quad - which should be ok come the weekend. Still a few heavy sessions this week before I start to deload next week - will work up to opening attempts for Comp #3 (next week) and look to push my bench this week.

Comp 2 of 4

NZ Record Breakers - at The HOUSE!

Super stoked to be at the House again - there's something special about the House - first time I squatted 300 was at the House in 2010.

I had a good day in the office and no injuries (which is most pleasing).

BW - 144.1kg

Squat - 290, 310, 320

Bench - 170, 180 (=PB), 185 (5kg PB)

Deadlift - 270, 285, 295x

Total - 790kg (7.5kg PB)

Full comp report here: http://danomyte2014.tumblr.com/

I ended up lifting 8 out of 9 attempts, 3 x PBs and unofficially broke 6 x NZ Raw Records. I got a lot of good indicators from this comp that will put me in a good position to achieve my goals at the Oceania Champs - more work to be done though.

Really great catching up with everyone, meeting new mates and putting names to faces. Stoked to share the platform with many great lifters at this comp #Honoured.

Massive thank you to Warren, Ruth and the crew for all your hard work and dedication with the comp over the weekend - you guys are the back bone of the sport - many many many thanks to you guys   :clap::clap:
