poos_n_wees
How important is genetics and drug supplementation in bodybuilding? I know its been thrown around as an excuse – who hasn’t heard the “If I took what he does, I’d look like that too” or the “She’s got awesome genetics for bodybuilding.” Not everyone is good enough to get into the All Blacks or the Silver Ferns – would you agree that this is the same for bodybuilding? That not everyone has the right genetics etc to make *it* (pro) in this sport? Or could the right training/diet/supplementation get you there no matter what? And lurking on other forums revealed this:N Engl J Med. 1996 Jul 4;335(1):1-7. The effects of supraphysiologic doses of testosterone on muscle size and strength in normal men. Bhasin S, Storer TW, Berman N, Callegari C, Clevenger B, Phillips J, Bunnell TJ, Tricker R, Shirazi A, Casaburi R."Interestingly enough, significant changes in body composition and strength were seen from testosterone use even without any heavy exercise stimulus (about a pound of lean mass gain a week on the 600 mg dose), contrary to the popular notion that steroids only “work” if diet and training are in order."This pisses me off. Whats the point of training and dieting when you can just sit on your ass eating Pringles all day?I think I need a coffee.
deegee
There have been a few studys done on AIDS patients who were given dosages (400-700ml/wk) of test and on a high protein diet without doing any excesise they all put on lean muscle mass. People on many bodybuilding forums say you wont grow on test unless your training and diet are sorted, I think this is somewhat misleading and said mainly to deter people jumping on to steroids as a fix for poor diet or training, because they certainly will grow but just not as much as they wished.I dont find this disheartening its a personal choice for most bbers. It is still not quite as easy as sitting and eating pringles ! waldo
The boss always used to say "If it was that easy then everyone would look like Arnold".

I had always thought that test was only effective if combined *successfully* with proper nutrition and training, and the results from that study threw me off. And as for Arnold, he started training at an early age.. would you say he was genetically gifted/suited for bodybuilding? Is bodybuilding hinged on genetics? FemMuscles
I have had clients who have taken all sorts of testosterone stacks with promises from their dealers what kind of gains they are going to get and when keeping track of their body fat and lean muscle gains its pretty sad gains! When I have changed their eating and if they quit training like a girl then the results along with stacks they are using is/makes a huge difference. If nutrition isnt watched then you might just look like a bloated fat boy who might be strong BUT who cares if ya look FAT! These same people also end out with high bad levels of cholesterol and other health problems/issues = so I say if ya ganna go down that track and spend that kind of money that you do it all properly, train and eat well for your goal.
2guns
If nutrition isnt watched then you might just look like a bloated fat boy who might be strong BUT who cares if ya look FAT! i would think the majority of people on the gear look like this.it seems all they try to do is eat as much calories as u can, sure u need alot of calories if u want to grow.but im sure theres more to it than just that. but if im worng someone please correct me
FemMuscles
Hey 2gunsEnd of day if you were to ask many who they wish to look like a) Lee Priest on-season or b) Lee Priest off-season. They look more impressive in the competion mode and those are the pics we look at and admire in the mags, but how long do they look like that for? Not long, Doing the stacks that cause quick gains can be also be from water since most the off-season stacks make you bloat - this can place alot of pressure on the heart when holding that amount of fluid. Once they are on these stacks they do eat really badly just to get any calories and these type of foods also cause health problems. So YEAH get the calories up to allow for what stack you are on BUT still make sure its from good types of food and nutrition. End of the day when preparing for a show unless you are taking some hard stuff to cut down quickly you ganna have to put in SOME hard yards to get your body fat down and water balance/electrolytes right! MUSCLEROIDS
Like I say to my people who want to or are on the gear it's 90% good food, with 5 days of cardio and 7 days of weights. As for genetics that does help with the out come. The one's with an athletic body will need time to get the look they want. Look at how long it took Lee Priest to come to terms with good nutrition it's been the last 2 years that he's looked his best. If KFC was that good then all Islanders would have awsome bodies. And Pros do diet but they combine it with a cutting cycles.
