PWO Stims / Caffienated drinks and Urinating

For the past 5 years or so I have drunk about 4-6L water a day and usually have a couple of glasses or a small bottles of sugarfree V or coke zero daily. I also use PWO stims like Mesomorph or Jack3d before most training sessions.

Even though I go to the toilet frequently during the day and try and restrict fluid intake a little bit in the couple of hours before bed I have always had to get up in the middle of the night a minimum of 3 and usually closer to 6 times sometimes up to 10 times to empty my bladder.

I decided to try and combat this by not drinking any caffienated drinks or pre workout stims for the past 4 days. The first night was normal, second only got up twice, and the last couple of nights for the first time in many years I have managed to sleep through the entire night and only get up once to use the toilet.

I know I am not alone with this problem, and there are many other guys out there in a similar situation. Quality sleep = quality muscle growth so Im hoping to see results in my physique. I'm off caffienated drinks for a while now

Any other thoughts?

Oh man, I hear ya! Coke zero is terrible for that I've found. Sack 1-2 glasses and can guarantee I'll be emptying the bladder a few times in the next hour. Can't say I get up that amount of times during the night, but 1-2 is fairly normal. However I do often sleep right through...

Another huge culprit I've found, is BCAA (SciVation Xtend specifically). Never used to "go" much while training, but now it's pretty normal to take 3-4 stops per 1-1.5hour session.

caffeine is a diuretic, kinda makes sense now but only after hearing that you tried it and it worked

As I was reading your post I was thinking high sodium from drinks, your body also tries to flush out more often...but then over a long period of time it would adjust prolly...gotta be the caffeine you think does Jack3d use much caffeine? (1MR uses 300mg per scoop!)

One option!

I use way too much caffeine (2 expresso coffees in morning, then 1 expresso + energy drink + thermo before training). I drink 5-7L of water a day as well and I guess Im lucky as I'll only get up once at night.

Dont think I could quit caffeine if I wanted too?!

bro...put a tea spoon of salt in a glass of warm water and drink it before bed.

you'll be cured

old fishermans trick to save lives in rough weather.

serious? Im up 2-3 times a night aswell, 1 if I'm fucken lucky. I do drink a coffee about 3pm(large latte no suger  ), use xtend and sometimes use a PWO around 4 and in bed by 9:30..

The worst thing about it is sometimes I've pissed a shit load over the night I almost wake up dehydrated. :( so feel the need to have a couple cups during the night also.

ditch the caffeine u say? might try it.

Another huge culprit I've found, is BCAA (SciVation Xtend specifically)

have u found any other bcaa formula to reduce the urination?

Have had to get up during the night ever since I've been on nightly protein shakes, mixed with water.

Have switched to cottage cheese / pp or yoghurt / pp and now go right through.

Have always been able to have coffee in the evenings without effect. Only use turbos for pre workout (always workout after work) and reckon I tend to burn off all the goodies in there during a workout with no sleep issues.

My poison is Pepsi Max, I love the taste. I normally chop 4 odd litres of water per day but the lack of taste means that I enjoy a cold pepsi max after work. Same problem, if I chop a bottle (1.25l) in an evening I be visiting the can probably 3 times before bed then a couple during the evening, definately the caffeine plus the water volume affects my sleep.Harder to sleep plus frequent waking up.

If I have some before say 3pm, then I dont have the same problems.

Ha didnt even think that could be the cause ive been getting up so much. Thought it just came with getting older. Was working in a guys house around a year ago. ( big fella around the size of Steak ) Not him though and he had packs and packs of the biggest disposable nappies i have ever seen. Might just invest in some of those then i can just stay in bed.
