Vitargo: The ultimate Carb!

Pittbull

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I am looking at the NZ distribotorship for Vitargo, here's some infomation on the product & I'd love some feedback of what you guys think.

What is Vitargo?

Vitargo is a patented carbohydrate derived from barley starch. Starch is comprised of two compounds one is called amylose and the other, amylopectin. Each compound has a characteristic molecular structure and physical properties. These physical properties are what make Vitargo superior to maltodextrin and glucose based sports drinks when it comes to gastric emptying, glycogen loading, providing energy, muscle growth and recovery..

Vitargo was developed for elite athletes. The goal when formulating Vitargo was to optimize glycogen replenishment, quickly and efficiently, without gastric upset to enhance performance. At that time traditional maltodextrin and glucose based carbohydrate drinks, bars and gels were available. However, the question remained: Can our ability to recover be improved? That’s what concerns strength and endurance athletes because optimal recovery leads to improved performance and in our case….bigger muscles, increased stamina and strength.

Why you should use Vitargo:

Clinical testing at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm showed that Vitargo®

Replenished glycogen levels 70% quicker than typical glucose and maltodextrin based sports drinks

Passed through the stomach 80% quicker than sports drinks containing glucose/maltodextrin

* Abstract: European Journal of Applied Physiololgy

(Unlike many sports nutritional supplements, Vitargo is supported with anectdotal evidence, a patent and peer reviewed research)

Other benefits of using Vitargo:

Vitargo® passes through the stomach quickly and facilitates the quick and efficient storing of glycogen. Therefore, you are able to eat your "normal" portions of food combined with Vitargo to load muscles with glycogen with no bloating..

Vitargo® contains no simple sugars and is absorbed 70% faster by the muscles than dextrose or maltodextrin!

Using Vitargo® for glycogen replenishment immediately after exercise is most effective to prevent the risk of over-training.

Vitargo enhances the uptake of nutrients because it acts as a nutrient pump into muscle cells. This is due to Vitargo’s unique hypotonic solution which helps nutrients shuttle through the stomach (80% faster than dextrose) and be quickly delivered to muscles. Nutrients spend less time being broken down in the stomach and more time being utilised by muscle.

Vitargo optimises the effectivness of BCAA, EAA, arginine, taurine, nitric oxide products, cell volumisers and creatine supplements (including creatine ethyl esters and Kre-alkalyn).

Who uses Vitargo?

Vitargo can be used by both strength and endurance athletes. Sports teams that have used Vitargo with great results are soccer (English Premier League Newcastle United was amongst the first) and Super 14 Auckland Blues. Other sports where Vitargo has had a tremendous benefit are triathlon, cycling, running, mixed martial arts and swimming. The examples are numerous. For all you hardcore bodybuilders, power lifters and strongmen and women, search the web and you will read comments by IFBB pro bodybuilders Luke Wood, Art Atwood, Markus Ruhl and Milos Sarcev and others as to the effectiveness of Vitargo for recovery, energy/stamina, glycogen loading and muscle size and fullness.

Carbing up for your bodybuilding contest:

Pure Vitargo acts like a pump and literally pulls water into the muscle tissue where it belongs. This “pump effect” gives the body builder that full, round, rock-hard looking muscle that fans, photographers and judges love! Pure Vitargo helps keep the stomach small and tight whereas sugars will distend and bloat pulling water out of the muscle and into your gut. (Sugars can flatten the muscles out! An absolute nightmare for a bodybuilder!)

I'll also be running a board special once I have stock!

Vitargo by Nutrex? Peter Hardwick and Nutrition PLus have been selling this for ages.

The brand Peter sels is as you said Nutrex Reasearch Labs an American company that actualy sources their Vitargo direct from Vitargo in Sweden who actually have a patient on the product.

Aha! I had a look at their website a while ago after Luke Wood sang the praises. It's a product that has a good cross-over between BB and endurance sports, so not a bad score there.

They've got a good website, with pretty clear explanations of how the product works. Certain other companies could learn a thing or two! :D

The product looks like it's got good potential, Pittbull. Two questions though:

- What's its GI? With such a high absorption rate, I'm guessing it must also have a high GI figure?

- Do you have any idea what the Recommended Retail Price might be? I'm sure it's a great product, but it's competing for my dollar against Foodtown's dextrose - 1kg for $3.50. I'm not expecting you to match that price (not quite!) but I'm sure you take my point...

sounds awesome mate,

i think if it has any effect on apperance for the carb load. bodybuilders would pay top dollar for this. if you say it pulls in the water but does not make you bloat, i would give it a try for sure. however hi Gi dont work for me till five minutes before i get on stage. also i get a wicked crash effect as my body is not used to sugar being on a low carb diet for so long.

when will you be bringing it in?

what are the recomended doses, and when would you use in the prep week?

I'm still waiting on Sweden to give me the tested GI, I would think it's pretty high though that's JMO

As for price I'm still crunching numbers & in talks with people at the moment so I can't comment on that just yet. As for foodtowns $1.50 dextrose, all I can say it may do the job you require it for dut compared to Vitargo, dextrose is truely well out of it's league. It comes down to you get what you pay for really. Non of the top guys use dextrose & very few still use maltodextrose! Vitargo is research backed to prove it's much much more effective than sugars!

You won't get any "crash" on Vitargo as it's not a sugar & if used correctly during your carb loading phase you'll notice a dramatic differance!

I'm looking at a Nov 1st launch & will put articles up on correct usage & dosage for different goals eg. carb load for a BB show, post workout for lean muscle gain, endurance events etc.
