So didn't work out as planned today, bit of an entry issue :pfft:

Just did all in one session this evening, worked out well enough !

Standing Military, hit 80kg for 10x10. Then Machine Press, Strict Side Raises, Chest Support Rear Raises and Shrugs sorted out everything else haha.

Feels good, new gym is mean, only guna get better as we sort it out more and more !!

Can't wait till it's completely operational.

Arms all up in dis bitch !

Wish we had mirrors at the new place already :lol:

Hit Triceps with 1,00 reps as usual, did a superset of Pressdowns and DB Extensions, 50 reps on each for 10 sets. Pump was insane !

Then Biceps, another superset, Close Preachers and Ez Bar Curls, 20 reps on each for 10 sets. Made up 400 reps. Was toast after this !

Got through it all pretty quick, only 3 of us and always had 2 going so rest was very minimal, hurt like a muthafucka !! :pfft:

Got one big surprise when we had shifted to GymNation !! Looks good though, just gotta find my way around again.

Anyway finished off the heavy 8/5/3 week with some decent triples, got 207.5 for three on Squat and got 137.5 for three on Bench, both easy so feeling good, will see how next cycle goes !

 

Typical deload this week, less volume, more rest, less weight, ramp up some exercises for next cycle to use as accessory work.

Finishing up the deload over the weekend with Legs and then Chest and Tris, guna be fun, then straight back into it !!

Been getting shit done the last few days !!

Not really but same old shit haha. Hit deload Legs and Chest over the weekend, easy sessions, felt good as.

Tris, Claves and Traps yesterday, the pump is crazy on Mondays, feels boss as fuark !! They're the 3 muscle groups I need to bring up and I think it's working pretty well. Reps are getting pretty high, hit 1,00 on Triceps as usual, went for 400 on Calves and then 350 on Traps, so yea volume is getting pretty high !

 

Lats this morning and then just did Biceps this evening, good times !! Started back on 5x5 on Pull Ups this morning, aiming for +20kg in a couple weeks. New plate-loaded Pulldown has been put together, awesome movement, definitely going to give it a run for it's money !!

Biceps was pretty good too, aiming for heavy Curls again, hit a double ladder tonight working up to 70 for 6 for 2 sets, easy as, then some DB Preachers and Concentration Curls, pump this bitch up !!

Gotta love dat Posterior Chain pump on Wednesdays, dat Glute burn..

 

Felt pretty good today, decent week one, hit 222.5 for easy 8, looking at some big numbers over the coming cycles !!

Romanians, Pull Throughs, GHRs, Seated Good Mornings and Seated Calf Raises left me sitting down for a good couple minutes, so fucked !!

A lot of volume on a lot of compound movements, but it all comes together nicely and the results are speaking for themselves so can't complain haha

So been decent few days of training since last update.

Hit Delts and Traps on Thursday, felt mean, big pump, definitely getting stronger, started out at 10x10 on 80kg for Seated Front Press, felt easy as so 90kg next week !!

 

Arms Friday was the usual, high reps, chasing dat pump, absolutely destroyed !

 

Legs on Saturday was average. Squats was 187.5x8, was sticky as, didn't feel nice, so put me on a downer for the rest of the session, but everything else went okay, I was just in a bad mood haha

 

Chest and Tris yesterday, mint work out ! Bench was 127.5x8, easy as, paused the last couple for the lols. Feeling strong on Pressing movements atm.

 

Some Tris, Calves and Trps today, lifting for the bitchezzzzz !! Monday always hurts ! 1850 reps all up today, 1000 on Tris, 450 on Calves and 400 on Traps, feelsgoodman.jpg

 

Feeling good overall right now, just Squats are feeling like shit and making me a little frustrated ! But oh well, will figure it out and get sorted ! Big numbers to come !!

Usual training week this week, feeling good though, have had good workouts all week !!

Hit Lats and Bis on Tuesday, epic pump in both sessions and definitely getting stronger in all respects. Hit 5x5 with +15kg on Pull Ups then two reasonably easy sets of 15 afterwards, onto some decent numbers next week ! We trained at Pioneer in the AM and they have a H.S. Pulldown so made the most of this, love it ! Might have to start making it a regular thing !

Posterior Chain on Wednesday was killer ! Deads were easy as, 235 for 5, felt like I could have done 10 tbh. The real test was doing a couple more exercises then hitting the GHR, chucked the Safety Squat Bar on my back, f*ck me.. Ended up doing 5 sets of this, doing 3 reps with the bar then finishing each set off with 7 reps of BW, will try do a 5/5 split next week !!

Delts and Traps yesterday split into 2 sessions, hit 90kg for 10x10 on Front Press, happy as with how this went, don't actually think I have done this before and it felt easy so will give 100kg a crack next week !! Usual pressing and raises, definitely growing in the Delt department. Hit a top set of 220 for 25 on Shrugs, feels good brahs. Feeling it today though, neglected my traps for so long gotta get them to grow somehow !!

Arms today then a big weekend on Squats and Bench !

So back to the weekly updates, gotta sort my shit out !!
 

Arms was the usual, hit it hard, got pumped, felt good then got all depressed when the pump went down.. *lol*

 

Squats on Saturday were average again, hit 200 for 5, so equal a 5rep PB but easier then last time I hit it. Still not feeling as good as they should but hey, it'll come right !! Had no water as they were fixing the plumbing around the building so cut the session short after Leg Press, was fucked and dehydrated to the max !!

 

Chest Sunday ! Hit 135 for easy 5 on Bench, feeling good even with a little less bodyweight on this. Low Incline DBs, 50s for 5x10, going 55s this week, the true test ! Usual accessory stuff, Chest feels like it's growing a bit, getting a bit thicker up top which is a nice change, will see what happens over the next couple months.

 

Tris, Calves and Traps on Monday, dat pump..... !!! 2,00 reps all up, I don't even know why I do this, hurts so bad ! Getting growth in all the ight areas though so must be working !

 

Lats and Biceps on Tuesday. PBs on Pull Ups, hit 5x5 with a 20kg plate attached then hit a BW set of 20 reps afterwards, can't complain about that !! Biceps was the usual, big pump, hurt like hell but always growing.

 

Posterior Chain last night, hit 247,5 for a triple on Deads, first rep I fucked up, was pulling right out in front over my toes but still easy. Hammys got pumped as f*ck from accessory work so didn't hit the Good Mornings at the end but still hit a few sets for Calves.

 

Front Delts and Traps this morning, had to train by myself so just went lighter on Front Press, chasing the pump and burn. Felt good though. Hit Side, Rear and Traps tonight, get some big round Delts up in this bitch !!

i feel like your journal should be a blockbuster movie its just so entertaining and exciting. im always left wondering how many reps will he do biceps next week, and then nextweek comes an im just like "WHAT!?!?!?NO WAY!!!!" farout im serious man, like wow, stop it. Too bad that big nigga from The Green Mile died, he would play you so well (if could have sized up a little to play the beast builder) also I hope that all is well with non training persuits. I know someone of your caliber must be close to put all his eggs in one basket. any way i'll leave your journal alone. can't wait to hear how many reps you do tonight.

Didn't even hit Biceps tonight, thought about it though. Doing Bis and Tris tomorrow though so thought better of it ! Few reps on Side Delts, Rear Delts and Traps. Nothing too special though, PB'd on Shrugs, hit 260 for 25, bitches be mirin..

Arms last night.. Was amped for a big session but turned up at Jellie Park at like 7.35 and turns out they close at 8 on Fridays... So 20 minutes of hell ensued !

Was all over that shit like a cheap suit, sets till I couldn't move the weight anymore then superset with the opposing muscle then back into it almost straight away. One hell of a pump !! Got excited everytime I walked past the window cos there was some swole motherfucker watching my every move, must have been learning. But then I realised it was a mirror, nearly chuffed my pants.. True Story *lol*

 

Legs today.. Omfg.. I dunno how standing around at work tonight is guna go.. Finally a decent session on Squats though, hit 212.5 for a triple, easy, might just stick to triples from now on. Volume on High Bar, Leg Press, Leg Extensions/Leg Curls and some Calves to finish off, falling over as we left the gym..

Chest Sunday went pretty well, easy triple at 142.5, couldn't really have asked for much better. One of the boys hit 140 for a good 10 though so wasn't really too bothered with what I hit haha. DBs, Flys and Dips finished up Chest. Went to do some Narrow Grip Fat Bar but Tris and Chest were too fucked by this stage so flagged it and went and did something like 400-500 reps on Tris and I was done !

 

Deload this week, been looking forward to it, get the body fresher and ready for next cycle !!

Soooo it's been awhile, haven't had time to check in !

Training is going well though, the usual split still, just at the end of week two of this cycle, hit 242.5 for easy 5 on Wednesday on Deads, 205 on Squats today and 140 on Bench tomorrow, next week will be close to my PB triples just shy on all three I think. Dunno what I'm doing weight wise, haven't weighed in awhile, thinking it's still hanging around the 111-112kg mark.

Had a couple new stretch marks pop up so must be growing in the right places, still feels like I'm leaner at the current bodyweight so guess I can't complain too much, just gives me more growing room to hit 120kg !

Sup team, into a much needed deload this week !!

Last week was pretty hard on the body, feeling a bit rough around the edges but big recovery this week then moving into a 6 week Comp Prep cycle which I will keep you updated on.

Will be cutting down the volume and frequency and focusing on recovery and progressing on the Big 3 for the build up, working on being fresh and ready to go come showtime !

The 6 weeks will probly be a cycle looking like this for the Big 3, 8/5/5/3/3/Deload. Cutting out my Arms days as of this week to give the body more time to recover, so still hitting the gym 5 days a week but will cut it down to 4 in a couple weeks.

Bodyweight still hanging around 110-111kg so not much change there, feeling leaner and better though so just gives me more room to grow, strength hasn't dropped, just leverages change so is all a learning experience squatting with a smaller waist etc. Will be all go come the big day though !!

Comp Time, Come at me brahs !!

Still 4 1/2 weeks away but I'm feeling pretty keen for it, not guna lie !

Hit  all my 8s last week easy as, even kept comp form on Bench (Head down, full grip, feet down). May not sound like much of an accomplishment but when I'm training in general I do all three things wrong on Bench so to still feel good keeping it in check was nice. 5s this week and next then two weeks of triples then game time !

Have cut out Monday and Friday sessions so far, only arm work has been on Back and Chest Days. Although after this week I will cut out Tuesday's workout and just do Back/Delts on Thursday, say 3 exercises for each. Then in the final week I will cut this day out too and just train 3 days with Deads, Squats and finishing up with Bench.

Unsure where bodyweight is sitting in the morning, still hanging around 110kg when I weigh in at the gym so probly be a little under that. Not too bad considering have gotten noticably leaner but strength has gone up and am sure have gained some muscle since last comp, where I weighed in at a tad over 111kg.

Keep you lads posted on how it all goes over the coming weeks, big things to watch out for come Nationals though !!

Comp Prep, feeling good !!

Hit easy 5s last week on all three lifts. 232.5 on Deads, 192.5 on Squat and 132.5 on Bench. All flew up and kept techinique tight across the board.

Hit 245 for another easy 5 last night, so Squat and Bench left to hit over the weekend. Feeling confident though ! Then onto triples for the next couple weeks before comp time !!

Heading in for Lats/Delts in about an hour or so, guna be fun ! Might even throw some Bis/Tris at the end just to keep me sane, looking forward to it !

Lol, didn't realize it had been so long since I posted on here !!

Comp Prep went pretty smoothly, feeling good for the upcoming weekend.

Started a new job a couple weeks back, Thanks to Terrymundo, so haven't been able to get to the computer as much as I used to.

Still looking at an early 700s total this time around with some room to improve for Commonwealth/Oceanias, which is just 10 weeks after Nationals.

Will post a Comp summary once it's done and dusted and will have video's of majority of my lifts hoepfully, might have to chuck them in the Gymnation competition, keen on some protein haha. Aesthetics catergory obviously !!

Right so been awhile since I've posted in here but let's start this bad boy back up again and hopefully be able to keep you guys entertained !!

Quick recap to fill in the gaps.

End of 2013 I competed in NZPF Nationals at CSPC in Christchurch, had a rough time, think I totalled 650kg at around 110kg, my PB total from April that year was 680kg (240/160/280) so wasn't too happy with my performance but still won my class etc. Was all set to compete at Oceania/Commonwealth Champs in December that year. Things didn't work out due to numerous reasons but left me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, won't go into details but I decided after this that I no longer wanted to compete with NZPF.

2014 came around and I took the year off competing just to get back into the love of training again without the stress of comps etc, just training hard with the lads trying to get big and strong, the reasons I started training in the first place !

Ended up the heaviest I've been, peaking out at a tickle over 120kg, a lot of unneeded bodyfat and looked like an overfed water buffalo. Felt massive but just looked like a square fridge.

PBs across the Big Three ended up at 272.5kg Squat, 180kgx2 Bench and 300kg Dead. Squat was quite high when I look back at it but we've all been there haha.

End of 2014 (October or so) I decided I was sick of being a fat c*nt and wanted to get leaner than I had ever been before while still retaining muscle. I have a pretty good understanding of nutrition etc but since I was looking to enter uncharted territory for me I decided to do something I had never done before, hire a professional to help me out. Enter Shane Elsey (Ex Mr Asia Pacific for those of you who dont know who he is), 20 odd years of bodybuilding experience. He completely revamped my diet and had me in pretty dam good condition by the time New Years etc came around so no one called Greenpeace on me at the pool or beach due to a beached whale lol.

I took a break from heavy training during the last part of 2014, mostly followed Mountain Dog principles during this time so very intense sessions with a lot of intensity techniques like drop sets, forced reps and negatives, mid set stretching etc. It all felt really good and added some good size I believe and helped me retain size while dieting.

2015 comes around and I kept on with Shane to try and build some lean size and keep bodyfat in check. Weekly check ins with calipers etc keep you very honest diet wise. I have no problems sticking to a diet 100% as I love the routine and structure.

GPC NZ caught my eye as a new powerlifting federation and my want to get back on the platform led me to getting in touch with Soundsgood and Court hoping to sort something out. In the mean time given the success I had had physiquewise with hiring a nutrition coach, I thought well what better way to take my lifting to the next level than to try the same thing.

Enter Tom Lilley (Owner of PTC Gold Coast) imo one of Australasia's top powerlifting coaches. He has been looking after my training ever since and I have never looked back !

So anyway managed to sort the South Island's first GPC comp for Anzac weekend, what a great time !

Had a 10 week build up with Tom into this comp, although this involved him completely revamping my technique on the Big Three so we chilled numbers wise at this comp. Treated it as another training session really. Came away with 707.5kg in the U100kg class (255/172.5/280). This was also my first experience with a 24 hour weigh in. My usual morning weight at this stage was 103-104kg, managed to get down to 99.3kg for Friday morning weigh in, jumped on the scales before lifting Saturday and with clothes on I was 108.5kg !! Successful rebound with food and water.

Next comp was Nationals and was set for six weeks later. So straight back into training hard. My morning bodyweight ended up stabilising at about 105kg the weekend before comp, until I had a massive cheat meal on that Sunday while water loading.... Big mistake. Woke up on Monday morning at 109kg.. Had my work cut out for me to get under 100kg by Friday morning. Long story short managed to toture myself and make it in, weighed in at 99.6kg on Friday morning, onto the good part, the rebound ! Came back on Saturday for comp, jumped on the scales and f*ck me.. 111.7kg, another successful rebound haha. You know you are doing well when you wouldn't even make the weight class above the one you weighed in as !

Comp was awesome, I literally had a perfect comp lifts wise, 9/9 lifts, 27/27 white lights, ended up with a 775kg total (277.5/182.5/315). This was the goal I was aiming for as it classifies me as Elite on GPC's classification table. Felt awesome, definitely the best comp prep I have ever done. I was planning on heading to Vegas for GPC World's to try and improve on this total though, until I found out I got invited to lift at ProRaw Seven at PTC Headquarters over in Oz. Competing here made a lot more sense costwise, training timewise etc so I decided to forgo World's and have a big build up to try smash another big PB total at ProRaw.

Can go into more detail on the weight cuts in another thread in nutrition section or something if you guys are interested.

So Nationals was basically two weeks ago, started my offseason programme from Tom this week, lots of reps ! Doing a conditioning phase for the next four weeks, then a strength/repeak phase for another six weeks to get back amongst some heavy weight before doing a ten or eleven week build up into ProRaw. Really looking forward to the next few months and feeling ready to kill it !

Overall split atm is as follows,

Monday - Squat plus Legs and Abs

Tuesday - Rest (Cardio)

Wednesday - Bench plus Chest and Back

Thursday - Delts and Arms

Friday - Deadlift plus Legs and Abs

Saturday - Rest (Cardio)

Sunday - Bench plus Chest and Back

Anyway sorry for wall of text, not such a quick recap after all !

Will log sessions starting tomorrow, hopefully haha
