Hello, I'm on a quest to get bigger and stronger cos I don't want to be a toothpick any more. 18 years old. Started lifting at the start of this year and managed to gain 13kgs of lean muscle since then. Now 67kgs and a lot stronger. I train powerlifting style and competed in a novice comp in July, U66kg Sub Junior, squat 140kg, bench 80kg, deadlift 160kg: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=12049

Eating like a horse, or trying to. Currrently getting in around 4500 cals a day which seems to be maintenance. I've been plateaued at 67kgs since May. So upped it to 5000 which is really hard: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=13214

I train Mon Squat, Wed Deadlift, Fri Bench. Workouts tend to last about an hour in my garage.

Goals are to become 80kgs (don't care if it's fat, just want to get bigger), and achieve a 1000lb total in powerlifting.

Push pull comp next week so just tested my bench 1RMs today and it seems ok. Strength seems to have returned to previous levels and thanks to ~5000 cals daily, my bodyweight has come back to pre golf/flu weight of 68kgs. I'll keep eating big, hopefully pack on 2kgs in a week and get that 90kg bench hahaha.

Hey Tom good on you for posting your goals up..... I think I remember seeing you at the Auck Nov Comp with Daniel?

Probably, were you the one that checked our gear before the comp and the middle judge?

I might be one day 8) but no you're thinking of Suzy D...I was there supporting one of our lifters from CBC.

I'm trying to figure out which one you were? The one that failed squat 180 first attempt then got it the second time?

I wanted to test my 1RM for deadlift today so I could get an idea for my opener on Saturday at Te Awamutu. I tried 160kg and it came up, although there was a bit of a hitch. Not bad, I woke up at 3am and worked hard 4am - 2pm so was a bit tired before training. I filmed some of my lifts so I'll put some of them up.

150kg seemed a lot easier so I think I'll open on 150 this weekend.

Why would you do a 1rm deadlift 5 days before a comp...where you test your maxes! Im going to go out there and say thatwas a bad idea.

Yeah i agree. Had to figure out what my strength levels were like bcos h had a cold for two weeks and lost two kgs. But anyway, fark, i shouldn't have done that. I went hard out today. I hope i recover in time lol.

Yahahahahahhaa!! I'm so stoked today. Dunno where my strength came from today. Insane...

I competed in a push pull comp at Zero Limits gym in Te Awamutu. Weighed in at 68.65kgs so in the U74kg class.

Bench

Attempt 1, 80kgs WWW

Attempt 2, 85kgs WWW

Attempt 3, 90kgs WWW (10kg PB)

Deadlift

Attempt 1, 150kgs WWW

Attempt 2, 165kgs WWW

Attempt 3, 180kgs WWW (20kg PB)

180kg deadlift was a real battle but man, the feeling of exhilaration when I locked it out! Amazing! I strained my hammies lifting it though, so was stretching it out afterwards.

6 out of 6 attempts, 18 white lights out of 18. Really happy with the result as my prep was crap and I did a silly thing on Monday. 10kg gain on bench, 20kg gain on deadlift in 2 months since my last comp in July. Bodyweight has also gone up 2.7kgs as I was 65.9kgs in July, today I was 68.6kgs.

Daniel took videos so looking forward to seeing those.

Just a light workout today, worked up a bit of a sweat. Trained in the dungeon with my brother, who did the same exercises with me just with lighter weights.

I don't have dumbbells yet and I don't think I will for a while as they are quite expensive so I am substituting plates for dumbbells.

Next comp will be North Island Powerlifting champs. Goals there will be 1000 pound total, 160kg squat, 100kg bench, 200kg dead. I didn't think I would achieve the grand total this year but after Saturday's result, I think it is possible.
