NABBA-WFF NZ NATIONALS - NEW ZEALAND'S only Official NABBA U

Agreed

You have to see Mark Reed in the flesh to appreciate how massive and dry he is. Pics don't even come close to the real thing.

A well deserved win to Mark and a fantasticly run show. Love it when they are all done and dusted before 6pm as well. Gives you enough time to go and enjoy the night with all your support team!

I like the Bruce Mason Centre as a venue. Parking is easy and free, stage lighting is good, and the auditorium slopes pretty steeply so that a) you feel close to the action, and b) you don't have to worry so much about the person in front having a view-blocking afro hairdo. I don't know what it's like backstage, but from a spectator's perspective, it's fantastic.

It was a really well-run show, and the physiques on display were generally amazing. It's a shame there weren't more of them though - it's always disappointing to have so many classes with only one or two contestants in them, and particularly at the Nationals. (So some of these photos that do show longer lineups are actually showing 2-3 classes.) Having said that, there were a few big classes too, and some very close competition.

Now, because we gave the NZIFBB a bit of a serve last week about music stuff-ups, it has to be said NABBA-WFF aren't entirely immune from these either. In yesterday's show, both instances I saw involved the same competitor, so you'd have to wonder whether it was his fault, rather than the sound guy (who publicly proclaimed his innocence! :pfft:). Either way, how hard would it be to make double-checking the music part of the registration/weigh-in process?

I'd also like to see the MC or head judge give the audience more information about the classes. This goes for all organisations, but particularly NABBA-WFF, which just numbers its classes. To announce "Mens Physique Class 4" tells me nothing about the difference between it and classes 1, 2, and 3. You might as well just say, "And here's yet another class of Mens Physique". :D

Anyway, I don't want to nit-pick over what was basically a very good show. And I'm a big fan of the NABBA-WFF one-show format. Here's looking forward to an even bigger better year next year.

Pseudo, the changing rooms are great at Bruce Mason, separate girls/guys rooms and theatre make up style mirrors and lighting, exactly what you would expect from a large theatre.

Agrre totally, the angled seating makes for great stage viewing from most any seat.

Great show guys!

Well done SG with the class win.

Mark looked the business in the overall - too much freaky mass for anyone else though Garth looked a lot more pleasing to the eye for those hooked on aesthetics. Phil Kuklinski also looked great as did Mark Dreyer.

As people here know I'm not much of an athletic class fan (call me old school) but the athletic classes were very competitive - Tom & Chris were very close.

Lesley looked superb as did Teneka & Ali. Kaye was one big & hard figure girl - unsure how that will go at the worlds but she's been around long enough to know what she'll need to change between then & now.

Big thanks to all those behind the scenes & officials - made a great day out for those of us in the crowd.

Great photos nzbodybuilding-cheers!!!

Athletes: SUPERB!!! Thanks for displaying amazing bodz up there on the stage, all of your hardwork did not go un-noticed. We are looking forward to you gracing our NABBA-WFF stage in 2012 and beyond. The potential out there was HUGE.

Volunteers:

Thanks to all 12 of our back stage hands/ marshalls/ tanners, superb work and we couldn't ask for a better team, you were all amazing and there were so many praises from the athletes about all of your help and friendliness.

Crowd:

Thanks for your support for the athletes, it really matters to have you there for them, makes a big difference

Officials:

Thanks again team your dedication to NABBA-WFF is awesome-you know who you all are-no need to say more

Bruce Mason:

Thanks to your great team, especially the audio chief, and in defense the music for the same athlete was HIS OWN music with his name on it, there was no mistaking it. Murray put on an amazing display regardless and he's an awesome athlete, great performance, great guy!

With the support of Nabba International and our new NZ Regional Promoters NABBA-WFF regionals have doubled in size for 2012. So you will definitely see even bigger events-exciting times ahead.

Thanks all

Wendy
