there are so many to choose from and just when i think i've found the right one theres another right around the corner that sticks out. i've only ever brought a protein supplement once and that was a cheapie $30 dollar whey protein one from pakn save LOL, i dont want to waste my money on a bulking supplement that doesnt even work so does anyone have any options ? \:D/

Yeah I know the "eat more food" thing is best, but I'm not going to assume the guy hasn't got his diet sorted.

I'll rephrase though, ASSUMING the diet is sorted, the only supplements really worth taking IMO are a whey protein and creatine monohydrate.

You're right of course.. I was just thinking that often people think there is something they can do which is going to help them more than just good nutrition, especially for weight gain. Creatine yes if it works for you it's awesome, whey is good for convenience but for bulking you would be adding so much to the shake that it negates the need for a high priced pure whey IMO. Everything you add to a shake makes it more and more like a whole food in terms of it's breakdown and digestibility so it becomes about convenience more than actual usefulness.

In my years of training I have gotten more and more basic, in training, nutrition, supplementation and even when it comes to ergogenic aids hence my simplistic "eat more food".

You're dead right, and like you say, the whey in the end is basically food anyway and great for convenience.

It's funny you say about going back to basics, I'm the same - started basic with lots of food and basic training, then got perhaps too technical with time and have now come full circle and am back to doing the same things as when I first started years ago.

Anyway, sorry tonganstallion for going off topic a bit. I guess the moral of the story is to 'eat big to get big'

Re; the fresh produce/protein powder posts that were posted earlier

protein powder is alot cheaper than fresh meat.... you really have to weigh up the benefit of is more fresh meat than protein powder really going to benefit your gains much more than the cost is worth i dont think it really will to be honest... im taking more protein powder at the moment and less fresh meats... only having one, two at most meat meals per day... rest of my protein comes from eggs and protein powders.

the bigger cost of the fresh meats really doesnt make the gains worth the price imo

btw he asked what supplement, food isnt a supplement so why jump straight on your high horse and say food.... a supplement is something to supplement (take along with) not substitue food intake (nutrition)... just for anyone who might of been confused.

Exactly! This gets bashed to death.. He didn't ask for people to tell him to eat more food he asked for the best supplement. This rates highly with am I ready to cycle

Hands down it's L-Leucine

I agree, but for a 2nd choice I go for the blend: BCAA

A $50 500gm bag lasts a while and it fills them muscles up with repair power. Oh yeah, the muscles are in heaven, for sure.

personally i reckon 100% whey and some type of creatine.

whey:

-myofusion

-gold standard

creatine:

-size-on

-purple k

although theres quite a bit of excess water retention that you might not be to happy with if you go on size-on, purpleK has less. But this shouldn't worry you until you plan to cut down if u dont mind being a little bloated during ur bulking cycle. Just sharing what i've come to learn bro.
