Very cold place ole Dunedin but a very beautiful city

It was honestly quite warm this weekend  Was much colder this time last year, plenty of snow.

Great to meet and lift alongside you MT, loved the intensity you took to every lift and the great battle with Tutua made it all more exciting to watch. I was surprised with your third bench too, the 145 flew up. The focus makes a big difference I spose.

Thanks Sam thought I was quite composed actually  besides that troll on the 3rd bench where I think I yelled and missed just kept to myself and focused on the lifts one by one.

Good to meet you too mate.

Nice to catch up to mate hope you house guys enjoyed your visit to Dunedin

Ok so I have had some time to relax finally and re-think my next goals where I want to be and more importantly how I am going to get there, so as usual logging my thoughts and getting some feedback would be appreciated.

Had a look at the NZPF calendar and the Raw Nats are held 3rd of Nov in WBOP is that correct? if that's right give me 12 weeks of training incl a 1 week deload at the end so thought I might run the Russian Strength Program back to back but this time do the full 9 weeks if I start on the 20th which gives me time to muck around for a few weeks and enjoy not being sore for 9 weeks.

So with that Comp in mind and no call outs (as of yet..) I set some personal goals that I would like to achieve either at this comp or mid term of breaking the current raw NZ standards records which if what tutua sent me is correct,

237.5 Squat

167.5 Bench

255 Deadlift - done now 257.5 \:D/

Veeeery ambitious I know as we all know I have an average squat and i'm not saying I will do it this year but I will keep pushing myself until I get them believe me!

So taking lessons learnt from Nats and developing further and working on technique along the way should be a fun ride for MT stay tuned folks.

Good to get under the bar tonight, wanted to come in Tuesday but I was still very much sleep deprived so used another day to sleep and chill out eat like a pig. Squats felt pretty good until I developed some pain down the outside of both legs. Not sure what would have caused that it's the only niggle I have from the comp so will try and roll it out keep an eye on it called Squats there moved onto Bench assistance. Can probably tell by this point Trap was my TP for the night so some high rep CGs and guns to round off a good start back. Arms are smoked have never done elbows in concentrated curls before man they were tough, good parmp in tomorrow or Friday.

Good goals M.T, good to have something concrete to work towards. One of the pluses of Powerlifting or any normal sport is that you can set a goal and work towards it in measurable ways.

You aren't far off those numbers now so head down and hit it hard bro!

Damn bodybuilding and it's subjectiveness!!

Bit of a maintenance day good to get some cardio and stretching in really need to pay more attention to both.

Very unfit which is no surprise struggled on bike but liked the volume of sleds to get the sweats going. Got in early and had finished before the lads so trolled a bit and Tutua and I took HJP out for lunch, review to follow.

Squats were fine until my ankle pain flared up good mid way through the top sets so had to pull the pin 2 sets short. Really need to see Doc about that and some physio but hey weight felt easy no issues there, the good news is don't have to squat until fri/sat so time to mend.

Was thinking might be a bit out of my depth starting on 130 Bench on day 1 gave it a shot and smoked it good start to the program body is in good nick besides the above ready for deads.

Ah yep pulled it back today feel so much better for getting that done properly. Made sure my warm ups were just enough to get me warm lots of blood flow without getting too tired for the top sets. Started off pretty slow Drizzt had to spot me for the later sets (cheers ba) but got them done in the end filmed some of them too so will chuck that up later if I get time.

Bench was on form too decided to chuck in some pauses as that's my weak point come comps felt as good as they can be for week 1 also filmed a few sets of these.

Box Squats were actually pretty hard have not done them since Westside last year keen to chuck these in here and there help develop some strength out of the hole and core stability all in all a tough week but very much keen for moar.

Oh forgot to update my NZBB peeps on the latest.

MT has had an appendix out last Tuesday so will not be doing RAW Nats and no training for 6-8 weeks while I mend up.

So far just walking for now and back to work today so on the mend.

Smile on my face the whole session was so good to be back in there and smell that aroma of iron and a hint of body odour lingering from a previous session.:wub2:

Think I made a good call waiting the 6 weeks before coming back from surgery I felt very energised usual high rep stuff kills me but cardio feels good atm main focuse for the next 2 weeks is high rep and short rest quick burst type of exes to try and put some frame back on this weedy body of mine.

Squats felt pretty awesome finally got me some Titan neoprones sleeves and they were amazeballs good time to start using them changeing my form to a few inches wider see how that goes.

Bench was my main goal for today trying to shock the chest and tris and wake them up, have a feel i'm going to be sore real soon. Accessorie stuff was also high tempo short rests when I wasn't chatting to the guys.

Back in tomorrow for some more squats and assistance can't wait.

Squats were pretty good cardio feeling great nailed out some easy sets of 10 that was until I some pretty intense cramping in the hammies all but took me out of the game. Was keen to push it to 140 for reps but after 100 the cramping was in full flight couldn't shake it. This is on top of some already decent DOMS from last Saturday so just trying to iron things out without taking too much rest.

Bench was flat still and feet up, again trying not to use the hammies at all 100 felt easy keen to step that up next week.

Assistance was fast and minimal rest. Going to be sore tomorrow I think.

So been feeling like I have lost a bit of drive to train mainly due to having no structure or direction, this happens almost every time I finish a comp and have no plan for anything and just muck about. Decided to start up a little 5x5 program to,

A: get back some lost size and hopefully strength

B: get the routine back which should put me in a better place.

Punched in some very moderate numbers so shouldn't struggle at all, that is ofcourse until I had my 1st session.

Yeah that was tough not gonna lie. Still kicking some sort of flu so the sweat was dripping off me, even walking gets a good sweat on but not complaining about that I just need to bring a towel in next time :doh1:

Very slow start to the program wouldn't expect anything different. Week 1 should be interdasting, also note 1st time doing direct ab workouts in 8 or 9 weeks> feels very weak and fragile so will tread carefully there.

Chest caved in on the 1st 150 and went too slow on the 2nd go at it, popped up ok would like to muck around in gear for a while to help increase my raw numbers.

Thanks to Wa for helping me out and over seeing the whole schabang was great. Pretty pooped after that will finish this session off tomorrow I think.
