Thanks bro.

Good goal bro! I look forward to following your progress!

Oh and don't hate on OBLIX, plenty of real tools around the place but that negavity just ain't worth wasting calories on.

Yea, I'm kinda not really angry at him... but I will use the thought of him to fuel my workouts. :pfft: :pfft:

Bro really? Fuel? Find something positive to fuel your workouts lol... and remember I am doing novice NABBA-WFF next year so we can do a show together. Nate said it was ok lol

So Harry, what do you think about to get that extra rep or make you do another set?

I just do it, I think about why I am training, what I am trying to achieve and just do it! I am pretty self motivated and when that's waning I have some decent people around me that can push me along.

During pre-comp which is when I seem to make the most gains I seriously think to myself "a fellow competitor is going to do more". And that gets me motivated enough to do another rep or set. That srs'ly goes through my mind every workout in the last 12 weeks or whenever I start "comp prep" mode.

As I write that it hits me...It would be useful if i thought like that every day of the year

That's it... I always think I won't get beat cos someone worked harder than me... if they beat me cos they're better such is life but it sure won't be cos they worked harder.

Thanks guys, I think I'll have to do a bit of a rethink about how I approach the gym and what I use motivate my workouts. I might just try Android's method out next workout. :)

Using Harry's quotes now Andy?!

IDW, like I've said, f*ck size, just get ripped. So many of the guys who step on stage (and even win) at the MR NZ could look SO MUCH better. Nail conditioning; win.

SUAS, I don't fully agree with that. With heavy training comes the size. It's about having the right amount of mass on you to make your physique appear better than the others on stage. I need to be at least in the mid 90's and at a very low bodyfat to stand a chance and I need to really bring up lagging parts such as my biceps and triceps (or just fill them up with synthol jk).

Size plus conditioning beats conditioning alone. Size plus aesthetics plus conditionings wins every time. It's the best combination of the 3 that is required. If you aren't on though then someone lacking in size and balance can win based on condition alone.

Daniel Hibbs won in the 70s. (weight that is). Yeah, the more size you have, the better, but not always. (seen those middle eastern cunts? fuuuuaaaark!).

I reckon 93 on stage? 8)

forget weight imo

here's my take on it, like it or leave it here it is :-)

Daniel Hibbs didn't prove that a light-weight can win Mr NZ at all.

He proved that a well-balanced physique and good conditioning is the winning combination over size.

Balance yourself out, make muscle groups (for your size) the best size and shape they can be, and then make them as a complete package look the best.

I think you're on the right track when you say you could improve your Arms, improve them so they are the right size for the Shoulders and Chest you turn up on stage with.

I mean we all want to be the biggest of course, but you can't...there will always likely be someone bigger than you on stage.

Aim for big, that's cool and food will take care of that....I mean you're trying to get big now aren't you, so you've go that covered.

Now work on balance which is something you can control with targeted workouts. Doing each bodypart once a week is only going to make you bigger in the same propertions you are today (or some other random shape if a bodypart grows more than another). Actually work at making lagging parts bigger and slow down the growth of your strong points.

e.g. if you have strong Shoulders like Harry...why would you make them bigger again if you had tiny Legs (not like Harry! LOL).

Just "roughly" for me (not for everyone)

What bodyweight I can reach at 10-12%b.f I can take another 10% off that to get my onstage weight.

To work it out backwards and see what I'd have to be to get on-stage at 93kg...I'd have to be around 104kg at 10%b.f.

Doesn't take into account how low b.f you get to, or how dry you get.

Went to Waiwera Hot Pools today.

Wore my Speedos as practice for getting up on stage next year. Hahaha! Man, how do you guys do it... it must be hard getting up on stage the first time.

Anyway, was a nice day... I was on the way up to the slides and a young kid, probably about 12 years old, and his mate asked me to flex my biceps... he said "Woah! You've got big muscles!"... all I said was "It's a lot of hard work!". Maybe he'll be a bodybuilder one day eh! :D Also, my girlfriend caught a group of girls checking out my back when we were relaxing in one of the pools. So, all in all a good day. :pfft: :pfft: 8)

Topped off by going to Maccas and having a Strawberry Sundae and Hot Apple Pie. fuuaarrk I got sleepy as hell not long after eating those. Had to get the misses to drive from then on.

that reminds me... been getting a few compliments lately. This woman who I can only describe as a milf (probably in her early 40's) who trains at LM said to me "That's quite a hot upper body you've got there mate!". I just said thanks... but I should have been cheeky and said likewise to her. Ahh the life and times of a bodybuilder. 8)

That sounds like Mandy, nice big fake boobs, blondey?
