I have been watching this site for a while as I have been getting my body to the point where I feel comfortable turing the corner and getting into bbing. I was quite overweight but have busted my ass for nearly a year now to try and get to the frame point I can build on. I needed to get my diet correct and give bad habits the flick. Im just about there but thought I would jump on and say hi n e way. As I said im pretty green on the whole bbing thing but I have a very basic set of suppliments and a sh?:$tload of will power to see where I can get to. :D

Hi there, and congratulations on your progress. You've put your finger on most important factor - willpower. I have a friend who's in the same boat you were in; he'd love to get his weight down, but he lacks the willpower and "stickability". How did you keep yourself motivated throughout the year - I'm guessing it would have been a pretty hard slog at times?

I studied social psych at uni and how behaviour works. If you take the basic principles of behavioural studies and apply them you can pretty much will yourself to do n e thing. It took me one day to quit smoking and about a week to drop all shyt food out of my diet without wanting to go back. Its good to hear about the gains and stuff you guys are getting on this site. Very inspirational. In setting up to get bigger I have looked at all sides of bbing ie the dark and the light. In you guys opinion can you really get big without turning to illegal options? I hold no stance on users or not just loooking for some sound advice.

That's quite impressive. So what are these basic principles of behavioural studies? Do tell! :D

To answer your question - yes, you can get big without without turning to illegal options. It will take longer, and you won't ever reach Ronnie Coleman dimensions, but (arguably) it's more satisfying to have done it naturally.

And now I'm going to duck for cover, because I'm sure I've just stirred a hornet's nest with that last comment!

If you accept fear as a positive force and mix in a little operant conditioning to create negative associations with the behaviours you are trying to eliminate. Everybody is different so some people may take a day while others may take weeks or months to quit a habit. Im not religeous, nor do I have anything to sell Im just intersted in the fact that you only operate somewhere around 30% of your brains potential. Sometimes its fun to try and fu?#$ with it a little.

I was talking to a relative who advised me that if im looking to get in the best shape I can get to that I need to look at the reasons im doing it. I want to find my physical maximum and maintain that point for as long as i can. He asked me to picture myself at 50 after 25 years on gear and then also after 25 years of holistic ( maybe wrong term) style training. From this ive decided to go all natural. No bagging those that use, everyone got their own game their playing.

hey bro I reckon everyone should stay natural for the first few years of their training before touching gear. Unleash your natural potential before using gear to break out of a plateau.

Heavy basics: squats, deads, rows, military presses, benches etc, lots of clean food, sensibility in varying your training parameters and reading your body + rest will see you grow.

Once youve got your diet on track, then you wil notice what you are lacking and get the required supplements. Until then all you may need is some a multi vit/mineral and some EFA's.

best of luck.

start a journal for motivation.

Use pics and measurements to keep track of progress.

Always record your workouts.

Dont overanalyse what your doing and have patience. ( we are all guilty of doing the former and skipping the latter).

Welcome to the board Beginner, i like the fact how you have applied pysch methods to giving up certain habits.

I studied a few pysch papers at uni and it does help alot in all areas of life with behaviour modification etc.

I can fully understand with you going the natural way if your focus is on health for the rest of your life.
