lazyone
hehe, I know the name's a bit offputting - but has anyone incorporated these into their workouts at all? http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Qua ... Squat.htmlI just figured out that a machine at my gym is specifically for THIS exercise (I've always wondered what it was for).
Oros
I sometimes put in a few sets after squats, leg press & DB lunges. IMO they work very well once the quads are fatigued, you can feel the quads really straining right up near the hips/lower abs. After a few workouts the quads seem to adapt and you don't feel them stretching during the sissy squats anymore, so I drop them and do leg ext'ns instead. Not really the same muscular involvement, but good enough substitutes for each other. Pseudonym
I really like sissy squats - as Oros says, they're great in conjunction with other exercises. Try super-setting them with leg press.
lazyone
Awesome - thanks for the suggestions guys. Superset them yesterday with the leg press... and umm now I'm having trouble walking and going to the loo :?
Pseudonym
Hahaha! You slowly lower yourself down, trying to take as much weight as possible through your hands on your knees. But eventually the weight gets too far back, and you have to let yourself drop the rest of the way. Yep, I know that feeling!

Pseudonym
Perhaps we need those handrails they have in disabled toilets and retirement homes...
THEBERG
i use to do sissy squats and they are anything but sissy, one the hardest exercises i've done, i beleive they are for the outer sweep on thighs (vastus lateralis).
