Windows 64bit

Has anyone tried windows 64bit edition yet. I have a 64bit AMD system but im currently running Windows XP Pro, which is only 32bit.

I have herd that if you have a 64bit system but only run a 32bit windows OS that your only really utilising half the processor.

Im currently downloading the 64bit edition. Its free from the microsoft site as it is not the full release version, just a pre release.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with 64bit windows? Ive herd there can be alot of driver issues so im trying to establish if its worth going 64bit

im in the same boat as you, amd64 running win xp. im gonna wait for some sort of offical release.. im sure it will have tons of bugs etc. also the way my pc is now can do everything i need.

let us knoiw how it goes, last time I downloaded a beta early release it was full of bugs and really annoyed me.

This is what im affraid of, like jono my system is running sweet at the moment but ive herd a few comments that its extremely fast. Ill probly give it a try anyway, can always go back to the old OS if neccasary, bit of a hassle though.

Ill keep you updated on how it goes anyway. Ill get a benchmark test done before and after. Does anyone know which piece of software the majority of people use to do benchmarks?

What CPU do you have, i think i have the lowest end 64Bit AMD. 3100+ Have you benchmarked your system? Might be interesting to compare real world values.
