Well after talking with RM today I will also do the Auckland Novice Comp on 5th Nov as it falls on my test week so will be a good trail run....

All presses were about an inch from chest just sitting there hovering in my mind I was saying f*ck you touch you prick...I was trying to pull in with out lossing tightness but no joy, so after a chat with Damo next week seem I am a fairly close grip bencher we are going to take the grip out a bit and try again, on the bright side they are all coming up ok.

Coast Barbell

Unfortunally I have had to put super kat away - fact is my raw strength is not there too use it yet, so I have borrowed a loose 48 F6 club shirt for the next two comps cheers Damo and Rach 8)

There is a flip side have decided after speaking with Damo to take grip right out near max from my closer grip benching sytles which allows a cut in range off motion going forward it won't pay off in the next couple comps strength and number wise but hopefully next year I should see some returns for it.

I tried that decreased ROM bullcrap fucked my shoulder up BUT did feel snappy and fast, mind you wasn't doing much weight on the 1st 3 weeks of 5x5 so moved back in for now but keen to try it out properly once all is fixed.

I wouldnt recommend it (max grip) for raw benching full time. Raw, I think you should bring it in to a med wide position...say for the sake needing an example, middle finger on the rings. If you have long arms (and in some cases like Panzer and I) you can raw bench at max grip with good strength (we are good for 160 raw out wide).

We also tend to train our raw bench with a variety of grips along with designated close grip sessions.

Hey bro yeah I'm hearing ya mate I'm no albatross like Damo and Panzer and even RM :pfft: :pfft: but it does put alot off pressure on shoulders but I find it only when taking out off the racks for set up due to the fact its almost a front raise lying down :lol: to get it out to set up so training partner or spotter is a must for anything over 70% off 1 rep max other wise shoulder injury is bound to catch up sooner or later, but yeah short movement thats great its just a matter off getting everything else right for me the arch while still having leg drive which I lost last night but I felt tighter it'll come right soon.

But good call to mix up grips helps over all benching train hard bro and smart :wink:

Chur boys my usual stance it what you mentioned Steak middle finger on rings sometimes pinky depending on the pain using more triceps. Always keen to change things up though Squats are the same have tried many different variations being still very new to the game but think I have found my groove now.

Coast barbell

Change off title, as I have being carry a back injury for last 3 weeks due to a outing in a deadlift suit, my back was around 98 - 99% recovered until last night all warms upto 200kg felt good put suit on for 225kg start and hello back starting playing up while trying to get depth... so f*ck the gear besides bench only comps... after being awake for 4 hours last night I'm going to save myself a big headache and lift raw from now on in at 3 meet comps.

anyway last nights training

1 x 8 @ 80

1 x 5 @ 100

1 x 5 @ 120

1 x 2 @ 225 a tad high

1 x 1 @ 225 same

4 x 1 @ 230 same issues droped last set couldn't hold off back pain

So after having a strong come back I'm in fuckin recovery mode highly pissed off... going into North Islands anyway will put something on the board and go from there leading into raw meets for 2012
