A bold and rash statement,......I think you're a slightly de-llusional teen, a few heavy, but un-judged or certified lifts that impress a few local lifters on a minor forum puts you nowhere near the league of the hardcore Olympic, or powerlifters or strongman competitors.

EU has competed and has admirable certified lifts to his name but, lifting in a gym, which is in your comfort zone, with a bunch of impressed, but un-informed bystanders is a hell of a lot different to being the sole person standing on a lifting platform, with legs of jelly and arms of lead, being observed by judges looking for the slightest reason to red light you.

You can quote whatever inspiring scriptures you like, but the call "no lift" is gut wrenching, especially when you know you can do no better.

But, what the hell,.....prove me wrong if you can,, we'll soon see if you post any records on this forum.

Is this going to bring up some interesting views or what!!

Oros- I have to say, bit harsh mate!!

Firstly, have you ever been to the gym where BigMac trains, I presume not. Your comment of a bunch of impressed, but un-informed bystanders is totaly inacurate. 99.9% of these so called by standers have been members of that gym for years and either competed nationaly or Internationaly on the lifting platform in Olympic Lifting or Power Lifting. and are now passing on their years of experience to the likes of EU & Bigmac the future of Olympic Lifting in New Zealand (along with others of course)

Bigmac's prompt reply to a statement by 2guns (I don't need no freaking gear) is an admirable one and good on him for standing up for his beliefs.

Your response to this indicates to me and possibly other viewers of this forum that this subject is sensative to you.

For your information the sport of Olympic Weightlifting in NZ has the most in competition & out of competition tests per head than any other sport in NZ and this is a fact that can be backed up by viewing the stats available to the public on the NZ drug free sport website

So why did I mention this. Any weightlifter would have to be mad or stupid to take ANY inhancing substances.

I have taken the time to view your training log and find nothing that realy impresess me other than you ridiculing members of your gym with inflamatory remarks about the opposite sex.

I have been to many gyms and have seen the likes of yourself who take ownership of gym equipment instead of perhaps taking the time to pass on your knowlege and explain to inexperienced members, gym etercute.

But before I pass judgement on you, I will at least give you the respect and opportunity to please explan to us the viewers of this forum your sporting achievments as this may give me a better understanding of yourself and your comments.

Hey, you may even impress me.

(as quoted by you) But, what the hell,.....prove me wrong if you can,, we'll soon see if you post any records or outstanding achievements on this forum.

And before you have a crack at me. I have represented NZ for weightlifting at Commonwealth & World level as will as representing NZ for over 15 years. I am also a national referee and a coach and can stake a claim that when I see talent i am more than happy to acknowledge it.

GOOD ONYA BICMAC KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND ILL SEE YOU AT THE NATS!!!!!!!!!!

I third that. BigMac, keep on keeping on! I wish from my days as a teenager at Gillies I could lift what you do.

Juddy, 100% correct. The old fellas at Gillies have more knowledge than I don't know what, and some at 60+ years old lift more than most on here could ever hope to. The likes of EU and BigMac will absorb said knowledge and in turn do the same as they get older. Cycle of life in a weightlifting gym!

hahaha, and u said he was harsh! :pfft:

my bad for suggesting that to be competitive in the strongman bigmac would need to use gear.

ive seen them do some demos and they are freaky guys moving bloody heavy things, something i could only dream of doing at present.

my comment wasnt meant as a put down to bigmac, ive never seen him train so couldnt make any sort of judgment. i didnt know my post would get people so offended lol... (but always good to have abit of action going down on this site, as it gets abit dull at times)

time will tell...

I'm confused about who Oros was talking to.. but just incase it was towards me and thats ok...

I don't wish to talk myself up ever. I'm keeping those videos so I have a record of the huge form changes that I've gone through and to help guage progress, same with EU. But just incase people think I'm a gym warrior, in the last 2 years I've competed a fair bit.

I have a acheived very little in the sport of Olympic weightlifting. However as a shot putter I won the National secondary schools at age 18 as well as the junior under 20 title. Due to a rule change I was gifted the NZ seniors mens title but I was ranked 3rd for senior men as an 18 year old. I was the 2nd person to hold all 3 of those titles in the same year.

In 7th form I broke all the national under 18 105kg+ weightlifting records as well as the shot put record.

I haven't done jack yet and I'm going to have my head down hard to break my bests over and over.
