Right time to kick start this journal again.

Competed in my first comp today and was happy enough with the results.

As Jim Wendler says..."The most important thing to have is a goal" I now have that goal in mind and something to work towards.

Yes OFFICIALLY hooked on Power Lifting!!!!

Now time to get strong!!!! :salute:

Thanks Old Bull.

Was great to get involved. Made a few stupid mistakes that caused me to miss a couple of lifts but in all, a good day out.

So good to have that feeling of wanting more.

With the help of Steak and the boys at CBC I hope to post a decent number next time around.

Monday night and back into it.

Dead Lifts.

Warm up....

100 x 3

140 x 3

180 x 3

Then into it....

187.5 x 5

200 x 5

212.5 x 5

220 x 2

Took video tonight to try and work out why I dropped my weights at the comp and figured that I needed to move my right hand a full hands width out. Tried this and my lift came up perfectly parallel.

Assist work.

Lunges

3 x 6 @25kg

Hanging Abs

1 x 15

1 x 15 with 1 chain

1 x 15 with 2 chains

Body not feeling too bad and seem to have sorted out my problem with the bar dipping on one end, so in all a good night at the office!!!

Hey VP, so good seeing you training up at CBC. It makes it feel a little more complete with you there.

Only 8 weeks out from comp so I couldnt take a night off, probably should have but I am chasing that crazy bugger Red at the moment so I can afford to get lazy. Also still buzzing after the comp so there is no way I could stay away.

It was pretty obvious that I was still fatigued, strength was not all there tonight.

Catch you next time.

Can I keep up with Steak that is the question. Dont want to hold him back but could give it a go if he agrees. :pfft:

question is can you handle not maxing out each week

lets do lunch...my peeps, your peeps...i know a place that sells very nutrious sandwhiches and a bloke who sells bench shirts...or

you might get to buy VPs as he turns over gear quicker than most gear whores..beside he will be wanting a Levithian suit soon ...its a Westside thing

Stuck to my program tonight and will keep doing that, not going to max out. Been doing a lot of reading the past few days and it is suicidal doing it my way.

Will talk to VP and see what he says. Gotta get some things together.

Tuesday night and I did it!!! \:D/

Agile 8, got to keep the mobilty going no matter how boring it feels for now.

People a lot wiser than me insist on doing it, therefore, it shall be done!!!!

Yeah bro, it's good stuff aye. I did the mobility/rolling parts of it before every squat session (and the static stretches after if I could be bothered :shifty:), and it improved my flexibility for the squat massively. Good stuff to do

I am beginning to see the greater picture nowdays, its not all about the lift, its about the prep that you put into it.

Going to keep on the mobility stuff, hopefully it will boost my squat, these little pins of mine need all the help they can get.

How you feeling 3 days on?

Sounds like me mate, after a good year or more of rehabbing various things that gave in, I've realised I need to place a greater emphasis on preventing these things from happening in the first place, even if it means adding 30mins or so to each session (dammit!)

3 days on I'm not too bad, sore adductors and sore shoulders but that's about it. Been in for a couple of sessions since and have picked up a cold :x But otherwise all good.

Yourself? What's your plan for the CBC Comp leadup?

To be honest I am all good. No soreness at all.

Went in on Sunday and did some stretching and foam roller work. Last night was back in doing my dead lifts, so training is back to norml.

My lead up to CBC comp will be sticking to Wendlers Program. Every 3rd week I will and I extra single rep as a progress check, by no means maxing out.

I will do 2, 4 week cycles. On the second cycle I will increase my 1 rep max totals without testing, by 15-20 kilos and work the next cycle to those new numbers.

Hopefully my new deadlift setup will not let me down and I can get a pb on that. \:D/

That will be about it and as they say....time will tell.

Good to hear you not feeling too bad after comp, just take care of that cold and get it sorted asap. Lock yourself away and sweat it out if need be.

Wednesday night and first off I want to say thank you and sorry to Big John.

My night started as it should have, warm up and straight to the squat racks. Problem being the house was full tonight so I had to use Ol Silverbacks (Steak) squat rack .....all good \:D/ .....lol!

Started good, then 3 things happened.....

1)Got fatigued....I tend to do this rather quickly nowdays.

2)Gave Big John a hell of a fright

3)Lost my fear of ditching a bar.

So you probably guessed by now I dumped my bar on my second to last squat and caught Big John a little unprepared. So sorry Big John for the marks on your wrists and thanks for helping out!! :pfft:

Into the workout.

Squats

Warm up

60 x 5

100 x 5

140 x 5

75% x 5 x 150

80% x 5 x 160

85% x 5 x 170.....well x 3 and then I lost it.

It all felt really good, I just lost the energy to end well. But gained confidence, most important.

Leg Curls

8 plates x 10

9 plates x 10

10 plates x 10

11 plates till failure.

All good in the house of pain tonight, just got to up the energy levels and it will be sweet as!!! :rockout:

He sure did, I told him to leave it but he was commited to try to help. Only reason he didnt do any curls was because I was still tangled up in it, lol.....

Zercher Sleeper hold

spoting enough of the load so the lifter doesnt smash himself on the floor, Al i was trying to avert was doing possible dmg to your shoulders/tendons in that posistion

but dont sweat it bro, I wear my marks with pride 8)
